test drive meme #15

Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open December 25th, and apps are open January 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: YOU SMELL SOMETHING?
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to knock you out, drag you back to its cave, and hang you upside down for some reason. This time, the Door has brought in a number of Wampas, from the Star Wars movies.

Wampas are large and furry, in order to stay warm and alive on their native ice planet of Hoth. While their white fur helps them blend in at home, it's less helpful in Hadriel - but that's fine! They're giant and terrifying with big claws and teeth, they don't really need camouflage too. They'll be more than happy to hunt you down - and if they don't eat you right there, they could knock you out and take you home for a later meal. If you wake up in a wampa cave, let's hope you remembered your lightsaber.]

R A G E

SCENARIO TWO: WE'RE ALL PISSED OFF HERE
[For some reason, something's just pissing you off today. It's something weird, too, something that wouldn't normally bother you at all. Maybe it's jackets or buildings with too many windows. Maybe it's animals or the simple act of sleeping. Whatever it is, it's total bullshit and you hate it.

What are you gonna do about it? Smash some windows? Kick a puppy? Or hey, maybe you'll run across someone who hates that thing just as much as you do, and you'll make a new friend! Or a new enemy, if they're wearing that most horrible of wardrobe items, a jacket.

This is a mini version of our Why Do You Have To Be Mad? event this month!]

D E L I G H T

SCENARIO THREE: THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON
[Generosity and charity have infected the city! And hey, that's a good thing, right? Hadriel could use a little more kindness. Who knows what's causing it - Delight is probably bored - but whatever it is, maybe it's affected you, too.

If it has, you'll be inspired by the desire to give gifts to your friends, your family, that stranger across the street. Of course, Hadriel doesn't have a lot of gift shops, so... well, maybe you should just give them the shirt off your back? Or hey, smash a shop window and grab that can of beans, they'll love that! You could even steal your friend's favorite jacket and give it to your other friend. How generous of you!

Or maybe you're totally unaffected, and a complete stranger just ran up to you on the street and tried to give you a shirt they ripped off their friend. It's, uh. Not weird. Aren't you gonna say thank you?]

Nathan Wallace | Repo! The Genetic Opera | lord what am i doing

[personal profile] sawman 2016-12-23 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
fear; cw blood and violence
[Electrocuted, hamstrung, and finally shot. Coated in blood, part of it his and part of it someone else's entirely, and he'd known, despite the peace of death, that a man like him would end up in whatever hell may await murderers, no matter how legal their contracts might be.

At least he's not unarmed, in the face of whatever one calls...this. It's white and furred and roaring, but it takes considerably more than that to terrify someone like him.

His retaliation is bright and precise, almost surgical in its efficiency. The double-edged scalpel cuts up, across, down again, and whatever the thing is, one thing he can say undeniably is that it bleeds.

It bleeds, and therefore can be killed.]
delight; cw gore
[The concept of gift-giving is fairly conventional. The ideas of what constitutes a good gift, however, varies wildly between different worlds.

So today, you may wake up to find that someone has deposited a well-preserved heart or liver upon your doorstep. Packed in ice and vacuum-sealed, ready for use for, er - whatever it is you might use that for. It's an organ just for you, free of debt! How fun.

And hey, if you need a skilled surgeon to transplant that organ for you, he's heading down the street just now like your very own blood-streaked Santa Claus.1

1. It bears noting that there appears to be nothing resembling a Santa Claus in the universe of Repo!, and this is probably for the best.]

Delight

[personal profile] turingmachine 2016-12-23 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
(The concept of gift giving may be conventional, but no one in any world seems to have an idea of what would be an appropriate gift for a robot.

Most likely, they're busy tidying up when they hear someone at the door.)

"Coming!"

(Now who could that be?

There's not much left to dust on the shelf they were working on, so they finish that before heading for the door. They open it, only to make a confused expression when they don't see anyone there.

...Just a box. Is it for them? They didn't order any packages.

Might as well open it...

Somewhere down the street, the Repo Man will overhear a high pitched, horrified scream.)

[personal profile] sawman 2016-12-24 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Now what's all the fuss about? Organs are a perfectly legitimate present to give to people, even for synthetic lifeforms. Why, plenty of people in Crucifixus might as well have been synthetic with all the surgical implants they've had.

The Repo Man in question is well-accustomed to screams, but he's not quite so used to not being the direct cause of them. Or rather, not being there to witness them directly. There are few things more terrifying than seeing a masked man descend upon you with a scalpel and every intention of using it.

He hesitates. Not pleased with the gift?

He doubles back. It's very much the Repo Man who pipes up at the ungrateful recipient of his gift.]

Not satisfied?
turingmachine: (Ohno)

[personal profile] turingmachine 2016-12-24 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
(Well, Turing certainly wouldn't be able to use it... even if they probably qualified as more 'Human' than a number of people the Repo Man was acquainted with.

Besides, even if they could, having an organ in there would mess with the rest of their inner workings!

When the Repo Man returns, he'll find that Turing has, in their attempt to get far, far away from their horrifying gift, not only dropped the box, but also fallen on their ass.

They look up at him with an expression somewhere between fear and fury, like they're not sure which to feel.)

"Where did you even get this?!" (The possibilities springing to their mind were grim and disturbing.) "D-did you...?"
sawman: (oh hey didn't see you there)

[personal profile] sawman 2016-12-24 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Where do you think?

[His voice is low and rough, and gives the impression of a wicked smile. Though given the helmet he wears, all Turing has to go off of are vocal cues. That, and the metallic blue glinting of his visor.]

Not like anybody's bound to miss it.

[...anymore.]
turingmachine: (pissed)

[personal profile] turingmachine 2016-12-24 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
(As obvious as the answer was, they had hoped that there would be another explanation.

It was a testament to their creator's craftsmanship how smoothly their expression transitioned to horror, then rage. The little robot sprang to their feet.)

"How could you?!" (For something so tiny, they sure could be loud.) "You're a monster!"
sawman: (mmm shiny knife)

[personal profile] sawman 2016-12-24 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
And you're surprised?

[A laugh; something of Nathan Wallace scrabbles gamely for purchase in the back of his mind, to it hasn't been long enough since those incisions for him to come back to himself. The monster in question is well and truly at the wheel, and will be for a while yet.]

This place is crawling with monsters. Might as well fit in.
turingmachine: (pissed)

[personal profile] turingmachine 2016-12-24 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ugh!"(The little robot stomped their foot.)

"That's really the excuse you're going with?!" (They probably shouldn't be surprised. The people who murdered Hayden didn't have much of a reason either.

Just thinking about this makes them sick with rage!)

"We should be trying to stop those monsters, not helping!"

Who said anything about an excuse?

[There's a harshness to the words, a cold rasp to how he grinds them out. Thinking he's making some sort of excuse - as if this is forgivable, any of it. He doesn't operate under any delusions that this is justified. That's the beauty of the thing.

Beauty, rails another scrap of his mind desperately, would be the wrong word for it.

Perhaps he means the other thing.

He indicates the open box with the tilt of his visor.]

If you don't want it, I'll find someone else.
turingmachine: (pissed)

[personal profile] turingmachine 2016-12-25 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
(It wasn't, but Turing, for all that their mental development was on par with a Human on the cusp of adulthood, was less experienced with the world than a toddler. They hadn't yet learned to stop expecting there to be good reasons for bad things.)

"Why are you doing this?"

(Then they're back to disgust and anger.)

"Ugh! Of course I don't want it! What could I even do with something like that anyway?!"

(They kick the box away from them.)
sawman: (the monster)

[personal profile] sawman 2016-12-25 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
[The Repo Man folds the box up obligingly, sealing it back up again. If this...thing, whatever it is, doesn't want the transplant, he can give it to someone else. He's feeling charitable today. No one needs to fall into debt and live in perpetual fear of repossession. Isn't that grand?]

You never know when parts fail. It always pays to be prepared.

[He chuckles darkly, with all the air of a private joke. Hilarious, isn't it?]
turingmachine: (pissed)

[personal profile] turingmachine 2016-12-26 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
(They're relieved to have the organ away from them, and they'll be even more relieved when the Repo Man is away from them too.)

"That's NOT the sort of replacement part I'd be needing." (And boy are they glad for that!)
sawman: (at the opera tonight)

[personal profile] sawman 2016-12-26 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
What, then?

[Look, he recovers, er - "parts" for a living. It pays to know what kind of parts are strictly requisite. Lungs, livers, corneas, he's not picky. Or squeamish.]
turingmachine: (concerned)

[personal profile] turingmachine 2016-12-27 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
(No need for that! Turing is all mechanical, no organ harvesting required.

...They seem a bit surprised by this question.)

"Uhmmmm..." (Do they even want to talk to this guy?) "Most of my parts are pretty stock. That's not to say I wasn't built using the latest and greatest prototype technology... but I probably won't be needing to take anything from other ROMs anytime soon!"

(Please don't go murdering their people for parts...)

"Actually, now that I think of it, I'm not sure if there are any other ROMs here."
sawman: (hang on lemme kill this guy)

[personal profile] sawman 2016-12-27 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, it's how it is. Plenty of people, thanks to GeneCo, make do with cybernetic implants and digital enhancements. They may as well be more plastic and machine than human. All in the name of style and fashion.

As long as they make their payments.

Most of the words and terms are utterly beyond him, and he makes no effort to understand them. Damn it Turing, he's a doctor, not a scientist.]

Very interesting. [On the contrary, he sounds profoundly bored with the proceedings.] I'll just have to take my generosity elsewhere.
turingmachine: (concerned)

[personal profile] turingmachine 2016-12-27 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
(To a sapient robot, a scientist is a doctor!)

"That's probably for the best." (Go away please. They're gonna tell the city guard about you, creep.)
sawman: (~ominous)

[personal profile] sawman 2016-12-27 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
[GeneCo always did like to protect its commodities. That's why they wear masks. Can't have a vengeful son or sister or parent targeting these sanctioned murderers in their daily lives, can we?

Another laugh, and he packs the "gift" away.]

Suit yourself.
turingmachine: (pissed)

[personal profile] turingmachine 2016-12-28 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
(Ugh.)

"Goodbye." (They'd prefer if they didn't see him again. Ever.)
sawman: (eat your heart out)

[personal profile] sawman 2016-12-28 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hefting his fresh cargo up, he sets off on his merry way. Don't hold your breath, Turing. For one, you don't even appear to have lungs. Quite a useless reflex.]
