Test Drive Meme # 1
Welcome to Hadriel's very first test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and Apps are open October 1st.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: ANYONE GOT A LIGHT?
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something on the rooftops watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to separate you from your group and tear you into pieces. In this instance, the door has managed to grab something truly horrific, and it's definitely out for blood (and brains) tonight.
Smokers are enemies in the video game series Left 4 Dead, who use their prehensile tongues to capture unwitting people and either drag them away for consumption or hang them up to strangle them. With all of the activity of characters trying to find out what's going on and where they are, there are more than a few of them, lingering in the shadows and waiting to try strike at anyone who may be lagging behind.]
SCENARIO TWO: YOUR HEART WILL GO ON
[You awaken in a windowless room, the walls strangely curved. The door, when you try it, is quite firmly locked. No amount of force is able to break through, so it seems to be sealed by supernatural means. Next to the door stands a slender pedestal, about as big around as a large man's thigh. At the top of the pedestal is a indentation, as if something were meant to go there.
But you're not alone in this room. There are two things with you: a person and a corpse. Pinned to the body is a note: Place a heart on the pedestal to leave. Tucked neatly into the corpse's pocket is a letter opener, small and not particularly sharp.
Did you have weapons or tools on you before? You don't now. But look at it this way: what better form of bonding is there than helping a friend or stranger dig a heart out of a corpse with nothing but a letter opener and your bare hands?]

SCENARIO THREE: HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BREAK-IN TODAY?
[You're standing outside a storefront, colored glass set into intricate designs. It's beautiful, artistic, but more importantly - there's definitely food inside. Good food, too, by the glimpses you can see through the window. In fact - wait a minute - isn't that your favorite dish in there, just waiting for you? You've been searching for food for hours, it seems, and the city is bare. Your tummy is getting awful rumbly. What luck!
You try the door. Cruelly, it is locked. The food taunts you, just out of reach.
The glass is lovely, intricate, but it's just glass. Or maybe you know how to pick locks. Or maybe there's a back way in. Or maybe some passing friend will be able to help you. There's a lot of options here, if what you really want is a mouthful of the finest... whatever it is you like.]

The sight of a familiar armored figure is, in fact, reassuring. Dorian may enjoy giving Blackwall a hard time, but that's the case with nearly everyone, and he certainly does know that Blackwall can be good for a number of things. Firstly, hitting things with swords until they start moving. Secondly, standing between mages (who ought not be on the front lines of battle) and disgusting monsters with long tongues.
So Dorian wastes no time in making his way over, scanning the area, hearing the same coughing noise that Blackwall did.]
Careful it doesn't smell you.

He never thought the comment would be a relief to here, just the same. Sera, Dorian, if the Inquisitor was there it would be like any other trip out to find trouble and put a stop to it, assuming they weren't the ones causing it. He can't help the grin that spreads.]
I smell more like them than you do, this is strategy. You could use some gore on you.

[Dorian sighs, a touch tragically, and raises his staff. The coughing is getting louder. He pities those here who don't have a strong sword hand or magic to defend themselves with - the fights can be trying enough even for him. He wonders how many might have died already.
With Blackwall, they've both got more of a chance. Dorian might have chosen a different companion, if he had his choice, but Blackwall is certainly useful, and not so objectionable, really. Even if he does smell awful at the moment.
He doesn't ask before casting a barrier to protect the both of them.]
Perhaps you'd best take point.

The laugh dies down as Blackwall remembers his friend. He's vanished enough times without explanation that he trusts that Solas had his reasons, but Blackwall still regrets not getting to at least say goodbye.
Dorian might not be his first choice in companions either, in any case, but he's here and even if they disagree on many things Blackwall can't deny that he's both usefull and skilled in equal measure.]
Perhaps I'd better.
[Bad idea to put a mage in front, and just as Blackwall gets between Dorian and where the sound of the cough comes from it proves a good move indeed - Blackwall's prepared when that awful tongue-thing shoots out from the darkness and slams against the barrier Dorian just put up. He shoulders his shield and makes a charge in that direction without waiting for it to have time to recover.]

There's only one of them, at least for now. This shouldn't be difficult at all. The barrier is holding, though it weakens by the moment, and Dorian takes the opportunity to fling icy projectiles from his staff at the monster. With Blackwall so close, he'll have to be more careful about his more devastating spells, but the smaller ones should be enough to, at the very least, distract it.
Really, it's a relief not only to have someone to fight alongside, but to have someone who knows how these things ought to work. Someone who Dorian has fought alongside before, and more than once. They may have their difference, Blackwall may have abominable taste and questionable choices in facial hair, but he's excellent in a battle.]
Watch your side, there may be another.

The ice catches the Smoker full-on, freezing it in place, which makes a nice and neat little target for Blackwall to shatter with merely a few blows. Just in time for the next one to make an appearance, as Dorian warned. A shout from Blackwall keeps it's attention on him instead of the mage, however. The job of someone who can take a lot of damage, not to mention the fact that Blackwall is wearing full plate while Dorian has his fashionable but woefully not quite as functional robes.]
no subject
It reels back, not dead but certainly damaged.]
