Ann Takamaki | Persona 5

a. fear
[The first thing Ann notices is the fact that her phone isn't working the way it's supposed to-- she'd assumed that the sudden shift in setting meant she'd stumbled into the Metaverse somehow, maybe accidentally activated her navigation app, but a few moments of investigation show her that she not only has no service, but that the nav doesn't recognize this place at all.

Frustrating as that revelation is, it has nothing on the second thing that catches her attention.

She hears movement behind her before she actually sees anything, quickly turning on her heel to find herself almost face-to-face with the creature skittering down the nearest wall, heading towards her at top speed. She feels every muscle in her body go tense; it's like no Shadow she's ever seen before, but she acts on reflex, prepared to handle this the same way she would any other foe.]

Carmen!

[Even as the name leaves her lips, her Persona appears behind her. A flick of Carmen's wrist sends a burst of flame towards the creature, causing the smell of searing flesh to fill the air as it finds itself slowed, letting out a high screech as it stumbles backwards, granting Ann just a little more room to breathe-- not that she's eager to, with that stench in the air.]

Ugh. Gross.

[Just one more thing that marks it as being something other than a Shadow. Whether she tries to kill it or run, she'll have to decide quickly-- she'd rather not give it a chance to get close.]

b. sorrow/hope (p5 spoilers)
[She's been frowning to herself since she'd first come across the mirror a few minutes earlier. She'd watched the events it showed a couple times over since then, and while they made her stomach turn, she's more angry than she is upset-- at least at first.

There's no way they're all going out like that. No way that creep is going to actually manage to pull one over on them, outsmart them. There's just no way that any of them would have worked this long and hard only to lose-- and there's no way their leader is going to end up dead.

She makes a disgusted noise as she tosses the mirror aside, letting it hit the ground. It cracks, but part of the image can still be seen: a teenage boy with unruly black hair, collapsed. Lifelessly strewn across a table in what looks like an interrogation room with a bullet hole between his eyes.]

It doesn't even make sense.

[She frowns, folding her arms over her chest as she crosses her legs in turn. Anger was winning out over the tears that had begun to prick at her eyes, but she doesn't know how much longer that will last. Real or not, it had been a hard image to look at. Akira hadn't been the only one she'd seen in the mirror. One by one, all of the Phantom Thieves...

She shakes her head stubbornly, trying to chase the image out of her head with limited success.]

It's a sick joke, that's what it is. Well, I'm not laughing.
