Test Drive Meme #27

Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open December 25th, and apps are open January 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: DON'T FEED THE WILDLIFE
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

This time, the monsters are very large and very scary, with the crocodiles from Lake Placid, a 1999 movie that was about... well, giant crocodiles.

These critters are massive, measuring over 20 feet in length and full of raw power. They're capable of taking down bears, eating full cows, and decapitating unsuspecting victims. Despite their size, they are quite fast and could definitely take someone by surprise with their quick movement. Look out for those formerly-still ponds, they back a serious bite...]

SCENARIO TWO: SHINING, SHIMMERING, SPLASHING
[Everyone's gotta drink sometimes and when you're in a new environment, that dehydration is kicking in double. Unfortunately, the water in Hadriel right now is... tainted. Nothing about it tastes particularly off, but one drink of it and you'll find yourself with strange and unusual powers. These abilities aren't necessarily gamechangers, and they aren't the full power, but they're definitely there at your fingertips.

Give your friends nightmares, give your enemies a super strong punch to the jaw- the sky is the limit, but be careful for when it wears off and those you've affected seek their revenge with their own water-powered abilities. Maybe you should find the memory erasing pond...

This is a mini event, based off of our shining, shimmering, splashing event going on this month!]

S O R R O W

SCENARIO THREE: HAIR OF THE DOG
[Were you partying last night, or are the gods just exceptionally cruel? Either way, you have what seems to be a killer hangover. Stomachaches, headaches, and general feeling like the undead- it's all happening and you're feeling the worst of it.

You're welcome to try and attempt your own hangover cures, but little seems to alleviate this. It just takes time, and maybe a friend or two to rub your back and make some food for you- that is, if you can keep it down. Or maybe your friends are in the same boat as you are and you need to commiserate. Either way, you're in for a hell of a day.

Maybe just take it easy for awhile.]

sorrow

[ A woman enters the speakeasy, one who had been familiar with its previous iteration (Delight's bar) and who is a frequent visitor to this new option, too. She groans faintly as she enters, pressing a palm to her forehead: the green glow of that palm does nothing to alleviate her pounding headache and general unhappiness with how this particular day is going.

Hair of the dog it is she thinks, grimly, approaching the counter. It's too bright there, naturally, so the Inquisitor only spends as much time up front as is necessary before obtaining a glass of a deep, red wine, turning to carve out her own corner of bitterness, when -

She nearly drops the glass. Even in the dark, she can see the hood, the small flashes of red, the glint of silver mail. It's all very familiar, though the last time she had seen this person had been in a nightmare, and the bard had been anything but a friend, then.

Cecily does not approach, but she does stare, and she does... dare to hope. ]

... Leliana?
chantes: (with heart remiss)

no joy for them

( leliana had managed to seclude herself for several days after first arriving. the familiarity of the place yet the haze in her mind had had her concerned, and with her need to find information doing so from the shadows had been the easier, and familiar.

things were still not entirely clear, though that also could be due to the ache threatening to split head in two. she did, at least, remember the woman in front of her -- name, details. she didn't know how long it had been since she'd seen cecily but it was nice to have a familiar face, and sad to know that she was still here )

Inquisitor.

( that would answer more for the woman than leliana greeting her with her name, considering how long it had previously taken for leliana to think of and call her by her titles )

nope never

[ She hears herself breathe a sigh of relief when Leliana speaks her title - not her name - and actually breaks to a faint smile. ]

Maker. [ Cecily laughs shakily, approaching the table, settling in across from Leliana as if they'd had plans to meet there all along. ] I... can't tell you how good it is to see you again. And... I always appreciate when someone actually knows who I am, though that doesn't happen much.

[ Even Leliana hadn't recognized her, at the beginning... but she remembers Cecily now, which is all that really matters. ]

I haven't seen you in ages. [ She points out, brows knit. ] I assume you've been in Thedas? What's been happening?
chantes: (and set us all free.)

[personal profile] chantes 2018-01-05 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
( she offers the briefest hint of a smile. cecily knows her well enough to know that she'd chosen her words carefully, that it had been to let cecily know that she remembered her. there's a pause at cecily's questions, a pause just long enough to indicate confusion )

How long has it been?

( she had to think about that, to compare it to the length of time in thedas )

Ah - mm. At least half a year, give or take a bit...

[ And what a change, since that last stay. Leliana has almost definitely noticed, of course, that they're no longer under the ground. ]

It's got two more suns than when you were last with us. [ She adds lightly, lips curling in a smile. ]
chantes: (the shepard's lost)

[personal profile] chantes 2018-01-05 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
( that was debatably the first thing that leliana had noticed, along with the lower numbers of monsters, water and more desert climate. it was not entirely new, and a little better than the wastes, but when she realised that the door had brought her back that had changed her perception on it )

I assume that many things have happened with that.

They have.

[ There's a pause during which she reflects on some of those things... and then sighs shortly, leaning back and drumming her fingers on the tabletop. ]

... But, you only just got here, and we can speak on those things later. [ Cecily peers almost warily at her companion before asking: ] ... Have you been to the Exalted Council yet?
chantes: (we're waiting-)

[personal profile] chantes 2018-01-06 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
The proceedings did begin, though whether or not we see an end to them--

( considering that a qunari had been killed during them... it wasn't just hadriel that leliana had on her mind )

About the same as me, then. [ Cecily sighs, resting her head on the back of the booth behind her. ] So, we've got no answers, there's an active invasion, the Council is angry with us, and my hand is still trying to kill me.

[ Successfully, if the steady march of time is any indication. ]

Glad to hear things are exactly as I left them.
