(And that's definitely an understatement, too: honestly, he's just legitimately glad to see him. Fighting Hyperion alongside someone is a pretty good way to foster sincere feelings of friendship, turns out. It was running into Lilith the way he had that fostered the uncertainty in him -- what if Krieg had the same sort of weird-ass amnesia that she did?
