[Well, that's a nightmarish thing to wake up to. Adam's pretty used to waking up to weird shit these days, but a stranger in a bloody apron - and a corpse that has apparently been carved up - is entirely outside of the normal.
It's a rather rough awakening. He scuttles back, until his back is against the wall, eyes wide and nerves singing. He has no real reason to believe he's not going to be the next thing carved open, and every reason to be paranoid as hell. Not that he's ever needed much of a reason for that.
But he breathes, tries to get calm (a losing battle), and looks at the man.]
