[Yuca doesn't really make a move to take the knife, nor does he try to stop Vaiz from picking it up himself. He's read the note, he knows what's being done to them. A psychological experiment, maybe? A test? Either way, it doesn't matter much. They're locked in, and whether or not this odd puzzle is going to help them get out, it's worth a try.
