I don't think Mike quite fits that 'adult' role, being 19 and a Dumb Boy, but he's likely to explore and try and figure out the cave city too because he recently discovered he likes mysteries whoops. If he saw a kid out by himself doing the same thing, he'd be likely to try and stick around to protect him.
