I pull most things off extremely well. Which is more than I can say for some.
Tell me, General, when was the last time you had company you didn't pay for?
no subject
Are you trying to insult me? Unlike some, I am dedicated to my duty and have no need of such things.
[Personal time off what is that.]

It's amazing how far weapons technology has come from your time until mine.

You're still stuck here with the rest of us.
How is Kylo Ren, by the way? Is he a courteous roommate?
no subject
He is looking forward to having a chat with you. Apparently, you withheld a few details from him he wants to discuss.
no subject
[Well, fuck. That's going to be painful.]
I imagined he would. Though, I do have to wonder how long he'll remain under your heel. They do tend to get bored, these Force wielders. And you're hardly interesting enough to keep his attention.
no subject
Who said I had any intention of keeping him under my heel? The only restriction I put on him is that when he turns your mind inside out is that I am there to watch the show.

You're not a very good liar, my dear General. I hope you don't gamble with that face. [She smiles at him ever so sweetly. A weapon is useless unless you can control it - or keep it pointed in the right direction. She might not now his world, but she knows Force users.] Is he better than Vader? He'll have to be if he hopes to make an impression.
[No doubt she'll be battered by whatever happens - perhaps even undone - and Maketh knows very well that Hux would enjoy the sight of it, as any officer enjoys watching their enemy crushed underfoot. But this is Hadriel and she's been broken before. She'll survive this just the same. There will be pain but she will endure.]

[If Ahsoka remembered anything when she returned then no doubt Alderaan would have been saved. But in his time it's nothing but rubble meaning either whatever she did was in vain or she didn't know the information she gained here.
Either way, he's not at all concerned.
He did raise his eyebrows when she compared Vader and Ren. He wondered if she knew- but that couldn't be possible. Palpatine had buried almost every trace of Anakin Skywalker and neither she or Ahsoka had mentioned Luke.
He carefully keep his expression impassive otherwise, the Skywalkers were a complicated subject.]
I wouldn't know, honestly, but it's always interesting to watch him carry out interrogations. I have no doubt I will enjoy watching him break you.
no subject
[Something important, something he's proud of. He's waiting for her to piece it together so he can gloat at her reaction. Maketh knows that game. She plays it herself from time to time. No, she will not be guessing. If he wants a reaction, Hux will have to spell it out himself.]
Oh. His take that long, then? The standards have dropped. A shame.
[She smiles. If she baits him enough, she doesn't have to think about how fucked she'll be once Kylo corners her.]
The Inquisitor was most effective in that regard. All he needed was a moment. Not all that "fun" to watch, you might say, but not everyone can be efficient.
no subject
[He looked amused at her reaction, raising his eyebrows.]
The Inquisitors had a pressing job to do, they couldn't afford to take their time. But with interrogation, taking your time is actually where the fun is. It's not as satisfying if your subject breaks too quickly.
But, I am sure Ren would be more than happy to demonstrate how efficient he can be.

[Not personally, at least. She's spent time there, liked as well as she liked any other planet. It was better than Lothal, but most places were. Clearly he's done something. Launched a ground campaign, perhaps? The Empire never bothered doing such things on planets that powerful. Easier to do it with words and not bombs.]
And here I thought all you concerned yourself with was the end result. Your protectiveness appear to be bleeding into your work, General. What a shame.
Oh, I have no doubt he will. And I have no doubt he'll be just as disappointing as you were. My condolences to your father, I'm sure he had high hopes.
no subject
[He is sure Tarkin will enjoy taking Alderaan out and he can understand why.]
Anything worth doing is worth doing well. I don't handle interrogations, however, I only get to observe when I'm able to. You would have to discuss those matters with Kylo and if you ask him nicely he may even give you a demonstration.
[The mention of Brendol always makes him scoff. Trying to get his father's approval had always been a sore spot but since the destruction of the Hosnian System, he knew now that he had nothing to prove.]
I'm sure he did too.
no subject
I don't ask nicely for mediocrity. Nor do I tolerate it in my presence.
[She grins at him, sugar-sweet and mean.]
He, at least, managed to reproduce. One does have to wonder how, but I imagine someone took pity on him. Oh, don't fret, General. I'm sure someday, someone pathetic will take pity on you as well. It certainly runs in the family.
no subject
[His eyebrow twitched just slightly at the indirect mention of his mother. It had been known in Imperial ranks that Brendol had a bastard son by the kitchen maid but he doubted she had lived that long to suspect.]
You realize my father was married, correct? Though I have no idea how he managed that.
And I have no intention of marrying or nor do I feel the need for any offspring.
no subject
Maketh eyes him up and down with distaste.]
The universe weeps with disappointment, I'm sure.

I think the university and I are even then.
