What the fuck are we supposed to do? My friends and I are dumb teenagers who thought humiliating one of our friends was a good idea. The most badass we get is surviving one actual shitshow of a night, amd judging from those of us who've shown up here, there's no saying for sure any of us will. I mean, god, being here, two peoplw who die for sure are alive. You want me to give that up and go back to a world where it's my fault they're dead?
I'm not your enemy, Sharon. I just don't give a shit what you do to get where you wantto goas long as you don't fuck with me and my friends.
You could be working information out of them! You could be learning about the Door! You could be trying to convince Sorrow to change his tune! You could be doing so much more than being a shitty seamstress, but you're right, you and your friends are just dumb teenagers who probably can't do anything other than survive.
So, go on, survive. Be useless, and just survive. [ She was going to tell Emily that being here doesn't change the fact that she's at fault for her friends' deaths, but she's not that mean. ]
I don't think any of us would argue with you on that.
[Chris and Sam, the only ones who weren't complete pieces of shit.]
Although I have to say that your strategy is only half good. You have the element of surprise down, that's great. But if you have all your people fighting, who's going to save your ass? Even in running a fucking business, you need to allocate your resources for efficiency.
[Emily may be depressed and grieving, but she could totally maintain her 4.0 if someone dropped a test on her lap.]
I do have a guardian in the Otherworld. [ She's capable of handling these things on her own because it's what she's had to do for years. Alessa didn't have anyone to protect her, didn't have friends to watch her back, so she created her own. ] Even if I have no one, I have him.
[ She knows her strategy isn't entirely sound. It's hard to have something foolproof when you don't have the information necessary to make it so, but it's not in her to just wait around for things like that to fall at her feet. ] I don't need anyone to watch my back.
[ Granted, the last time she did this and didn't have anyone watching her back, she died. Thanks, Mello. ]
Then you'd better hope he rescues your ass before you end up getting killed again for running off to do something without thinking it through.
[Because if there's one thing this place has taught Emily, it's that protecting the people who protect you is the best way to survive. And if surviving is giving up? Tough shit. Why rock the boat when the seas aren't choppy.]
I didn't call him to me before I died. If I had, I wouldn't have died. [ She says the words carefully to ensure the Emily understands what it means. She chose to die because death would have been easier for her than failing, because while Emily is here with her friends, Sharon came here alone. ]

[And see, all of that would've hurt so much more if Emily weren't already so sure she's lost her most important people, even if they're still here.]
You know Chris was working on that? I told him to leave me out of it. Say whatever the fuck you want about me, but don't talk shit about my friends.
[Because like hell is she going to tell Sharon she's right. Emily has done nothing but be selfish in order to look out for herself and her friends.]
