test drive meme #15

Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open December 25th, and apps are open January 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: YOU SMELL SOMETHING?
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to knock you out, drag you back to its cave, and hang you upside down for some reason. This time, the Door has brought in a number of Wampas, from the Star Wars movies.

Wampas are large and furry, in order to stay warm and alive on their native ice planet of Hoth. While their white fur helps them blend in at home, it's less helpful in Hadriel - but that's fine! They're giant and terrifying with big claws and teeth, they don't really need camouflage too. They'll be more than happy to hunt you down - and if they don't eat you right there, they could knock you out and take you home for a later meal. If you wake up in a wampa cave, let's hope you remembered your lightsaber.]

SCENARIO TWO: WE'RE ALL PISSED OFF HERE
[For some reason, something's just pissing you off today. It's something weird, too, something that wouldn't normally bother you at all. Maybe it's jackets or buildings with too many windows. Maybe it's animals or the simple act of sleeping. Whatever it is, it's total bullshit and you hate it.

What are you gonna do about it? Smash some windows? Kick a puppy? Or hey, maybe you'll run across someone who hates that thing just as much as you do, and you'll make a new friend! Or a new enemy, if they're wearing that most horrible of wardrobe items, a jacket.

This is a mini version of our Why Do You Have To Be Mad? event this month!]

D E L I G H T

SCENARIO THREE: THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON
[Generosity and charity have infected the city! And hey, that's a good thing, right? Hadriel could use a little more kindness. Who knows what's causing it - Delight is probably bored - but whatever it is, maybe it's affected you, too.

If it has, you'll be inspired by the desire to give gifts to your friends, your family, that stranger across the street. Of course, Hadriel doesn't have a lot of gift shops, so... well, maybe you should just give them the shirt off your back? Or hey, smash a shop window and grab that can of beans, they'll love that! You could even steal your friend's favorite jacket and give it to your other friend. How generous of you!

Or maybe you're totally unaffected, and a complete stranger just ran up to you on the street and tried to give you a shirt they ripped off their friend. It's, uh. Not weird. Aren't you gonna say thank you?]

Ooh, she's fired up, now! Ah, but she stopped in her passage to him. Disappointing. Throwing things at him might have been great except... apparently her aim is poor. Yukari clicks his tongue in disapproval, sidestepping and dancing around anything that actually might hit him, but not putting in alot of effort to dodge.

"Don't tell me this is the best skill you've got, Silver-chan. If you're going to challenge, you should be better than this."

Since she won't come to him, he'll go to her. He casually keeps walking toward her, easily and gracefully dodging any flying objects. Perhaps she'll be better at close combat.

Marian isn't a fighter by any means; she's a middle-aged academic, not some kind of medieval warrior like this guy appears to be. She's not equipped to rip the jacket off him in any way... but that doesn't mean she can't just continue to try to ruin it, flinging anything that has even a hint of a tearing edge or potentially messy over Yukari's way.

That is, until he starts advancing. Even if she wasn't worried about getting too close for other reasons, that sword doesn't look like a good time.

Hiding the motion of touching her hand to her watch behind the counter, there's a blindingly intense flash of cyan and white, leaving nothing in the space where Marian had just been. In the space of only a half second, it happens again in an epileptic fit-inducing flash and an opened can of brown beans comes sailing across the shop from the entirely opposite direction. Marian, now standing by the door, has another couple open cans (when did she have time to do that?) and a bottle of ketchup tucked under one arm, ready and waiting.

The whole situation is completely absurd, and she's well aware of that. Why is she so mad about his stupid jacket? It's nonsense. The faster she can just destroy the stupid jacket and be done with it the better.

Yukari shields his eyes from the bright light, hardly getting the chance to see that she's completely vanished from the spot. And then he notices the light come from another direction. The speed of a second hardly gives him the time to think, or properly see around the new flashing light. He releases a pulse and sends a powerful bolt of electricity through the new onslaught of items and toward her. He's only had to use his electricity on one other person here. Nonetheless, he still bears a smile and appears to be enjoying himself.

"That was quite unexpected, Silver-chan. Quite the light show." He draws the sword off his back. "Tell me, are you at your most serious right now?"

He hums an airy little tune as he strides toward her, electricity dancing around the blade of his sword. This is about more than the jacket, it's about passion, and it's time to see just how much fight this lady has.

Marian utters an extremely undignified yelp, ducking back behind a counter near the door, electricity shooting past her so close that she can feel the static crackling in her hair. The distinct sound of metal as he unsheathes his sword is just one more bit of bad news.

"I'm not trying to kill you if that's what you mean, you maniac!" she calls, trying to ignore the single yellow light now lighting up on the side panel of her watch. "Why can't you just get rid of the damn jacket!"
fracturedbeauty: (Actually...)

Yukari's chuckle turns into a delighted laugh as she calls him a maniac.

"Well, then, perhaps I am one. I have been called something similar before in battle."

He walks up to the counter he's sure he saw her duck behind, clicking his tongue in amused disapproval.

"That's a rather funny question, Silver-chan." He swings his sword down into the counter, electricity cracking loudly as it breaks the surface. "One could ask why you don't just give up on the jacket. That actually would have made sense."

Of course, he's certain that the temper tantrum is Rage's influence. But he's enjoying this game too much to let that stop him, or tell her that.

"Of course, if you really want to destroy it, you should try much harder than throwing objects at me."

Running away never really solved any problems. But when you don't know what to do, it's sure a solid start. Yukari only gets a very brief glimpse of her hunkered down behind the counter before there's that same brilliant double-flash.

Although the door didn't open at all, she's outside and across the street this time. Just one more try, she tells herself. Sheer frustration and rage is one thing, but an actual threat to her life from this psycho... well, she's not willing to die over it no matter how much she hates the jacket he's wearing.

"Like what, attacking you with a sword? I'm not a damn psycho." Or maybe she is crazy, she reminds herself. Just not that kind of crazy. She rubs her hand over her face, trying to snap out of it. Even though she's mad, this didn't get off to a good start. "I know it doesn't make any sense, just humor me. Okay? I don't want to fight you. I'm just. It's just. There's something wrong," she tries to explain, shaking slightly as she tries to keep it all under control.

He breaks down the store wall, stepping outside amongst the debris and humming melodically. Nevermind that there was a door. Who cares about the door?

"Are you the sort of person that's all talk, Silver-chan? That's rather disappointing. Whether you want to fight or don't, you did anyway." He sets the blade of his sword on his shoulder. "You should, at the very least, see through what you've started."

He smirks. Watching her shake gives him a sense of pleasure. Whether it be fear or anger that is the cause of her shaking, it's a delightful part of who she is. A beautiful glimpse at the true soul within.

"Why on Earth should I humour you if you attacked me first? That's not particularly beautiful, is it?"
