What happened?

[Rosen will assume you know what event he's asking about, Sweets]

[He does know, which makes artfully dodging the truth not as easy as it might've been if he had any question. So fine, truth it is, although he ends up being a little more truthful than he intends.]

I think I might've been murdered.

[It's the first time he said it out loud and it sounds utterly ridiculous, but it's one of the only explanations for this place that makes any sense and it's been so on his mind that he just says it.]

[That will give Rosen pause and his face takes on a gray pallor]

Why do you think that?

[He hesitates, because it's hard to describe exactly why he thinks so, but makes an attempt anyway.]

Do you ever just... Get the sense, after something happens, that there's something really wrong?

Yes.

[He pauses. It really bothers him that you are so young and to think that you have died, Sweets]

So...what happened?

There's some sort of conspiracy going on, at the very least within the FBI, and perhaps beyond it too.

[The pieces are still coming out, and one of those pieces--]

I went to pick up evidence that we needed for the case we're building, and I must've been followed. He surprised me, and we fought.

[Mistake after mistake on his end, and he probably lost both the evidence and his life because of them. Maybe, if he's lucky, he's just in a coma and not dead, but that's not a whole lot more hopeful an idea.]

I think the blow that broke my ribs might've been fatal. I've broken bones before, and I've been shot, and this was different.

[Something felt wrong in a way he'd heard people talk of, and when he'd woken up here the feeling was gone. Maybe he's imagined all of it, but he can't just dismiss it as that so easily.]

[The thought is disgusting. The obliteration of a life for the sake of keeping secrets secret. But Rosen knows too well that Sweets wouldn't be the first to be sacrificed in the name of keeping face]

Will..will someone find you? Wherever it happened...could someone find you in time?

[He knows the same, and has investigated cases in which similar things had happened, but it still felt like one of those things that only happens to other people. Even being a psychologist and therefore knowing better, it still doesn't help.

But the question does, because he can't say no.]

I don't know, maybe. Someone might notice I haven't checked in.

[Someone could call him and go looking for him if he doesn't answer. Aubrey's been tailing people and might be nearby. A bystander could walk into the parking garage and call for help. Booth could decide he's needed as backup after all and just show up.

Or none of that could happen. But then again, it could.]

I wish I could tell you that they will. That absolutely you will get help and it will be ok.

[However his expression is growing more grim]

But I can't promise anything. I can only hope that that will be the case.

[He offers a small smile, half sad and half not.]

Any hope is better than none. Thank you.

[He means it.]
