test drive meme #19

Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open April 24th, and apps are open May 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: WHAT A FUNGI
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

There you are, walking along, minding your own business, when you come upon a strange... something buried in the ground. No sooner have you noticed it then it pops out, ready to attack. This time, the Door has brought in some Mushbooms, from the Secret of Mana video game.

Mushbooms are large mushroom-shaped creatures that seem to be quite upset that you've infringed upon their territory - though who knew it was their territory to begin with? They attack unpredictably, dancing around before lashing out, and if you're not careful they might just hit you with sleeping powder. But who doesn't need a little nap sometimes?]

S O R R O W

SCENARIO TWO: SHALL WE DANCE?
[You received your invitation - now it's time to attend. Yes, it's the night of Sorrow's masquerade, and surely you're coming prepared. You've found an outfit in the shops, and maybe even a matching mask. You've learned the steps to a dance or two, or maybe you're counting on your partner teaching you.

What will you do, now that you're at the masquerade? Will you enjoy the delicate refreshments on the tables to the side, stuffing your face to avoid making eye contact? Will you make like a wallflower and watch people dance, hoping to be asked yourself? Or maybe you're the brave type, and you'll walk right up to a lovely person and ask them out on the floor. Whatever you do, the night is young - there'll be time for plenty more.

This is a mini version of the last day of our Seven Days of Hadriel event this month!]

C O N F U S I O N

SCENARIO THREE: NEW PHONE WHO DIS
[So you called your friend - you're sure you did. You opened up your phone, hit their name in your contacts list, and started chatting. Maybe you have something important to say, maybe you just wanted to shoot the shit. Only - somehow, it's not your friend. It might be a different friend, a perfect stranger, or even someone you hate. Let's hope they speak up before you say something too embarrassing, right?

Or you might be the one getting the call. You answered the phone, and someone started talking as if they knew you - as if you're a close personal friend of theirs. But who the hell is this, anyway? What are you going to do, speak up or let them keep rambling on about their latest fight with their best friend? You might even recognize their voice - wait, did they just call you sweetie? Oh shit, they definitely think they called their boyfriend. Wow, this is awkward.

The longer you wait to speak up the weirder it'll be. Unless, of course, you have no sense of shame at all and are happy to let them make a fool of themselves.]

[ It's a party, and those weren't his strong suit-- but he supposes it's not as bad as it could be. Things could always be worse, as questionably optimistic a statement as that was. So...honestly? Yes, in a way. Delta feels a tiny bit ridiculous with the mask and bowtie, sure, although nobody's dared to say it looks bad. He's not surprised. ]
[ He starts trying to give a nod, more or less leaning forward a little before he thinks better of it. The fumbling happens as expected when he retrieves his phone from one of the pouches on his belt; to his credit, however, he doesn't drop it. It looks like a toy in his hand, and he has to take extra care not to damage the screen when he types. Eventually, he gets his message together, turning the screen towards Hannah after one last check to make sure there aren't too many typos. If he tried getting rid of every one of them, they'd be here a while. ]

it's alright
are you though ? seem on edge
or sometghing

[ Definitely not the fastest way to communicate, particularly considering how slow he types, but unless Hannah's fluent in what is essentially whale noises-- well, it's the easiest. ]

[ This guy is huge (if it is a guy) and does... look a little ridiculous with the mask and bow tie. It helps to alleviate some of the tension, so she continues to smile with increasing confidence, brows raising when he types up a message and shows it to her.

He can't talk? ]

I'm okay. [ Hannah says, speaking rather than writing. ] It's just... weird, having a party. There aren't usually things like this.

[ In her experience, anyway. ]
drilldaddy: (did i leave the stove on)

[ Good. She seems to be more relaxed now, and he's inclined to cite proper communication as having helped at least somewhat. He takes a moment to erase the previous message once she's done talking, giving a tiny hum as he types up the next response. It...doesn't sound great. ]

yeah
las ttime i saw a masquerde everything went to shit so
bar's pretty low on my eend

[ He gives a half-shrug, the movement accompanied by a few dull thuds as a hose or two collides with his tanks. That was where he'd died the first time, and any party that has a body count definitely isn't doing it right in his opinion. Maybe he's biased, but Delta's reasonably sure it's sensible. ]

take t this isn't the place to make the scene. is it supposed to be like that??
[ It's a cave out there. At least it's not flooding with seawater, he supposes; Delta's going to count his blessings on that one. Could be worse! Could be much, much worse. ]

LATE

[personal profile] wendigoner 2017-05-23 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. I'm sorry... [ Hannah struggles silently with what to say before adding: ] I've never been to a masquerade before. I've just seen them in movies and stuff.

[ The idea is romantic, but in Hadriel, it's... maybe a little less so. ]

Supposed to... be a cave? Be like...? [ Hannah follows what she assume is his gaze. ] Um, yeah. We're somewhere underground. Nobody really knows a lot about it... but there are tunnels filled with monsters, and... a lot of other bad stuff.

[ But, so as not to give the wrong impression, she's quick to add: ] But, there're a lot of nice people here. We're all stuck together, you know?
drilldaddy: (we can talk about it ok)

no worries! :>

they're
something. about all i can say on em.
kinda nice actualy being able to go in for once, though

[ Not that he has any intentions of doing most, if not all, of the generally required parts of a masquerade, but the sentiment's there. Delta hasn't been in the social limelight in years, so he's plenty rusty; the idea of being the center of attention doesn't sit well with him at all these days, either. He's just fine where he is, thank you. ]

sounds like wher i came from, then.
[ He'd almost called Rapture home for a second-- in reality, it was quite the opposite. The half-second of hesitation doesn't stop him for too long before he gets back to it, leaning down a little to try and get a better look at the keyboard. ]
i can live with that
this isnt the worst place i've been. and judging by my luck it probabky won't make the list
might as well get comfortable while i'm here.

[ It's not Rapture, and that's one of the most important things. Eleanor is safe topside, and he's finally gotten some time to rest-- Delta doesn't see a reason why he can't try to make the best of things, particularly when he's been given a third chance at living. If the universe was attempting to make amends, it wasn't doing a bad job. ]

how long hvae people been here? if you know, that is
sounds like there's not much info.
wendigoner: (i know what she can do)

[personal profile] wendigoner 2017-06-01 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure. [ Hannah says, once he finishes writing and waits expectantly. ] Um, there's a good amount, though. People come in every month on the same day, but they leave - out of nowhere.

[ Like Beth. Again, her stomach clenches painfully. ]

Oh - Wait. I think I heard something like... a year or two. Between that.

[ When had she gotten here, herself? It feels like forever ago. ]

It could be worse. [ She concedes. ] This is a nice party, and we've got... food and clothes and stuff. Little houses, too.

[ And it's better than being dead or dying by a long shot. ]
