Have you ever just wanted to tell someone flat-out what you think of them as a person? Does your roommate have this one quirk that drives you up the wall, like dripping apathy all over the kitchen sink? Sometimes all it takes to be the best person you can be is a dose of self-awareness, sometimes what it takes instead is a cluebat to the head... and sometimes they just have a stupid name you can never quite spell right.

THE LOWDOWN
i. Post a header with your character's name.
ii. Comment in-character to other people's headers. With what? Depends on your CR! Maybe they're a good person and really should keep on keeping on, maybe literally everyone can see they need to suck it up and confess already, maybe they'll change their wicked ways if just one extra person casts aspersions on their pompadour. Bring in examples if you want, as with any helpful critique. Be as creative as you like!
iii. Other characters will comment to yours, no doubt overflowing with well-meaning advice on how to be the best person they can be. Your character is free to respond. Excuse you, maybe despair is still in fashion??
iv. Feel free to assume there's a compulsion to speak their minds, if your character's not usually the type to give unsolicited advice.
v. A probably unnecessary reminder, but just remember, this is not a place for OOC crit! There are other, more appropriate channels for that.

Yeah. In different contexts too. Some ar elike yours, some are by crazy religious zealots. It's always super fucked up.

I don't know how often it happens. But it's creepy as shit to think about what they lived through, what they survived.

Look, when I fight you over the Impetial shit you say, it's not about you. It's about the Empire. It's what they did to you that pisses me off. I'm not like, someone with the patience to be a psychologist or whatever, so I don't handle it the way I should, but I seriously want to punch everyone who did this shit to you right in the face.

[It takes Maketh a while to figure out what to say to that.]

I know I am not--I don't understand a lot of things. I get them wrong. I don't mean to.

[She's quiet a moment.]

But I want to be--better. I want to be someone else. Not an Imperial. I don't know if I can. But I--I will try.

[Emily sighs. It's not condescending or huffy, just... tired. For her own sake and for Maketh's. This sucks.]

You're already more than an Imperial. [It's true, okay? If Maketh were still an Imperial, she'd be like her double.] And you can do this. I know you can. Back home, people spend a lot of time in therapy for this shit. Sometimes the rest of their life, I think. And you know what, there are people who think that makes them weak or whatever, but that's bullshit. Therapy is super healthy. I bet the Empire would tell you it's pointless, but it's not.

[Stars, Maketh doesn't want to go and ask Sweets for help - not sober, at least - but she does want to be different. She wants to be better and not so fragmented. Sometimes her head gets filled up with too many ideas, one after another, faster than she can process, and it hurts - a physical ache that doesn't go gently. She doesn't want to be like that.

If Emily believes she's could, then--

I have always trusted your judgement. You see things as they are. So if you think I should do this thing, then---then I will try. I give you my word.

[To be honest, she didn't expect Maketh to agree, but she's glad for it.]

Yeah, at least try it. Maybe it won't help, but maybe it will. It's worth a shot. You deserve to leave the Empire's shit behind. Think of it like you're punching them in the face.
