test drive meme #21
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open June 24th, and apps are open July 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: A LITTLE FRENZIED
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
Do you hear something weird? Some kind of strange, constant humming? Hopefully by now you know enough to know that it's probably not nothing, and maybe you should run. If you don't, well- the Door has brought in some Winter Lanterns, from the Bloodborne video game.
Winter Lanterns are rather hideous creatures that hum constantly and glow orange when they detect someone's presence. They can grab you with their tentacles and take a nice bite out of you, which is super fun, or they can mess you up just by looking at you too long. Yep, hanging out in the gaze of a Winter Lantern for too long will end with you being afflicted by Frenzy - blood shooting out all over the place. Not great for the health, really, so maybe don't get into a staring contest. Maybe just run.]

SCENARIO TWO: HAUNTED
[You thought you might never see them again, but now they're here. That person you loved - that person you miss terribly. Except that you seem to be the only person who can see them, and you also seem to be getting steadily weaker.
So that's what it comes down to, then. This ghost that's haunting you will take your life so it can live, even if it doesn't mean to. Do you have the ability to stop them? You'll have to kill them to do it, and you love them so much. Now's the time to make your choice - but be careful. They're strong enough to be visible now, and one of your friends or even a passing stranger might have something to say about your decision.
This is a mini version of our Ghosts That You Know event this month!]

SCENARIO THREE: SLEEPING SICKNESS
[For some reason you can't quite put your finger on, you're tired. Like really tired. Like slurring your words, stumbling over your own feet, nodding off if you stop for a second tired. You can't seem to get enough rest no matter what you try - because it's always a light sleep. The slightest sound or movement will wake you up, leaving you just as tired and irritable as before.
What are you going to do? Try to find a quiet place to nap? Good luck. It seems like a lot of other people have the same idea as you - it might be hard to find a truly empty place. Or maybe you just can't take it anymore, and you're going to lay down and take a nap right in the middle of the street. Or maybe you actually feel fine, but everyone around you is falling asleep - and they glare at you when you make the slightest sound.
Maybe you should wake them up? Sleeping in the middle of the street isn't exactly safe. But then, maybe you just want to join them and argue over who gets the most comfortable bit of road.]

Everything about what has just happened indicates that the young girl standing between Brennan and the creature with the glowing orange clumps on it, is trying to protect Brennan.
"I feel compelled to tell you that if it were not clear to me that you believe you are helping me, what you just said could be construed as a threat."
But with the way the creature is... approaching the girl, it's evident that the girl is right.
Brennan looks around and spots what looks like an exit off to her left. "This way -- run!"
no subject
"Yes, welcome to my life." Mortals. Really. And still the more she watched the creature creep closer and start glowing (why) the more she would rather they were anywhere else. Even if she didn't even know where this was or if it was even any safer anywhere else.
She took a few cautious steps backward, eyes on the beast, holding the knife in front of her, defensive. How was it going to attack? What would her counterattack have to be?
Or running. Running was good too.
"Go. I'll be right behind you. I'm not staying here with this thing."
no subject
There's no time to ask. The creature is moving closer. The girl is right about its intent, apparently
Beennan, however, is not letting the girl out of her sight. She makes it to the possible exit, checks to be sure there's nothing waiting around the corner for them, and then waits for the girl.
no subject
Or sooner than she'd thought as the thing lunged at her and she scrambled backwards and slashed at it instinctively. She might have hit it but she couldn't really be sure seeing as she was not sticking around to find out, running toward where the woman was waiting for her.
"We should leave. Like now."
no subject
The girl comes over, and now, finally, Brennan is ready to leave.
"This hallway is like a labyrinth. That creature is too large to navigate these narrow spaces. We should be safe now." She won't feel safe until they're outside but still. "You are either very brave or very foolish. Certainly reckless. You could have been hurt."
no subject
Then she did roll her eyes as she finally looked at the woman. Was she actually trying to lecture her? After all that?
"So could you. At least I had something to defend myself with. What were you thinking? It could have killed you. Or worse." So very, very much worse. "Were we even seeing the same thing? Or did it look safe to you?" That part, at least, was an actual question without any sarcasm in it. She was really just curious and now that they had some breathing room, well... Nothing ventured nothing gained, right?
i am forever sorry about brennan, weeps and laughs
The tone she perceives from the girl, though -- did Brennan come off angry? She was only being rational. Life would be so much easier if everyone were rational and honest.
"I can defend myself," she states matter-of-factly. "It was impossible to tell just from looking at it if it would attack me or not. I intended to find out." Her next question is genuinely curious. "How did you know it was hostile?"
Hahaha don't be I for sure did it on purpose XD
"Look. I'm all for curiosity and learning new things but maybe we could learn them from farther away when the things have teeth? Or...weird tentacle arm. Things." You know. Whatever.
"I didn't know it was aggressive, but it was the most likely conclusion. Like 95 percent of the time monsters are. In the stories, anyway." Yeah. Uh huh. Stories. Nice save. "I don't know where we are or how we got here or why we're here, but it's probably the safest and most logical thing to conclude that everything is out to get us until proven otherwise."
no subject
The girl makes a good point about learning from afar, though. "Perhaps I should not have approached it by myself."
Wait. Monsters? Brennan chuckles and shakes her head. "Stories and myths are... ways of attempting to explain phenomena that are not understood. We are beyond that now. Science has given explanations for many things once attributed to gods or spirits." As for why they're here-- "There must be an explanation. Perhaps this is a hallucination, though I do not take hallucinogenic substances. But it may have been added without my knowledge into a drink or something I ate. Or perhaps I was surprised by a thief or assailant who jabbed a needle into my neck. That would explain the rapid effects of whatever substance was introduced into my bloodstream through either my jugular vein or carotid artery."
no subject
She sighed. She shouldn't have even considered this, but... "If you want to look at one up close I can try to kill one but...it might not last very long. If I can even manage it." Maybe it wouldn't explode into dust like the ones she had experience with--they were certainly not Greek, anyway, so maybe the same rules didn't apply?--but she did not relish the thought of even trying. But she was curious. Athena, and all.
That...was some serious denial. Oh well. She would take it. At least she hadn't given something away. That part was good at least. "Yeah. That. I'm pretty sure it isn't a hallucination, but I guess I can't discount that theory either. For now we'd better find a more defensible position. I really don't like the idea of getting trapped in a hallway."
no subject
"That would be very helpful to me. Safer as well." Then she can study it and draw conclusions and determine if she should bother trying to interact with a living one.
Also it is not denial it is the most logical possibility.
"Perhaps... this is more like a dream." It's so vivid and detailed and-- yes. That has to be it. "A very elaborate dream." Therefore, nothing will actually hurt them. "I would like to get outside of this stadium. If that is in fact where we are, then we should be safer if we leave it behind. It is... very Roman." Down to the creatures that appear to be out to kill them. "I wonder who we are entertaining."
What a very interesting dream.
no subject
She nodded, though a little distractedly. "Alright, give me a day or two to catch my breath and get acquainted with the place --or find someb, backup--and I'll see what I can do." She'd definitely regret that later, wouldn't she?
"Some god, probably." One day she'd learn to keep her mouth shut. She was so tired of being teased and played with, and she was angry. That was the sort of thing that had gotten her cursed. Maybe Hera couldn't get to her here if she never saw another cow again it would be too soon.
"It does look that way, but I'd have to get outside and take a closer look. I wasn't exactly looking at the columns inside. But if it is, it would make sense that there were monsters in there, but not that they'd let us out this easily."
