Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open June 24th, and apps are open July 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: A LITTLE FRENZIED
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Do you hear something weird? Some kind of strange, constant humming? Hopefully by now you know enough to know that it's probably not nothing, and maybe you should run. If you don't, well- the Door has brought in some Winter Lanterns, from the Bloodborne video game.

Winter Lanterns are rather hideous creatures that hum constantly and glow orange when they detect someone's presence. They can grab you with their tentacles and take a nice bite out of you, which is super fun, or they can mess you up just by looking at you too long. Yep, hanging out in the gaze of a Winter Lantern for too long will end with you being afflicted by Frenzy - blood shooting out all over the place. Not great for the health, really, so maybe don't get into a staring contest. Maybe just run.]

S O R R O W / L O V E

SCENARIO TWO: HAUNTED
[You thought you might never see them again, but now they're here. That person you loved - that person you miss terribly. Except that you seem to be the only person who can see them, and you also seem to be getting steadily weaker.

So that's what it comes down to, then. This ghost that's haunting you will take your life so it can live, even if it doesn't mean to. Do you have the ability to stop them? You'll have to kill them to do it, and you love them so much. Now's the time to make your choice - but be careful. They're strong enough to be visible now, and one of your friends or even a passing stranger might have something to say about your decision.

This is a mini version of our Ghosts That You Know event this month!]

T R A N Q U I L I T Y

SCENARIO THREE: SLEEPING SICKNESS
[For some reason you can't quite put your finger on, you're tired. Like really tired. Like slurring your words, stumbling over your own feet, nodding off if you stop for a second tired. You can't seem to get enough rest no matter what you try - because it's always a light sleep. The slightest sound or movement will wake you up, leaving you just as tired and irritable as before.

What are you going to do? Try to find a quiet place to nap? Good luck. It seems like a lot of other people have the same idea as you - it might be hard to find a truly empty place. Or maybe you just can't take it anymore, and you're going to lay down and take a nap right in the middle of the street. Or maybe you actually feel fine, but everyone around you is falling asleep - and they glare at you when you make the slightest sound.

Maybe you should wake them up? Sleeping in the middle of the street isn't exactly safe. But then, maybe you just want to join them and argue over who gets the most comfortable bit of road.]

[Zack stands awkwardly for a moment before taking a seat where he'd been standing. Now that they aren't running for their lives he isn't sure what to do. He rarely talks to girls and he wishes that Angela or Hodgins was here to tell him what to do or say in this situation.

Instead he tries to focus on the facts and that helps; a little.]

Yeah...

[He takes the granola bar and then mumbles.]

[Zack wonders what the food situation here was. Where is he exactly and what's brought him here? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense but he's here so there is no denying that fact.]

Don't worry about it. [She digs through the bag for a moment again and pulls out a dented can of something for herself, popping it open with ease.]

My name's Jo. Welcome to Hadriel.

I'm Doctor Zack Addy from the Jeffersonian.

[Zack’s lips twist into an uncomfortable expression. He’s not good at talking but he needs more information. He repeats what Angel has told him over in his head though it doesn’t particularly help with the clarity of her statement. ‘I’m a believer of people being themselves.’ Being himself has never worked.]

Thanks. [He eats slowly and then crumbles up the wrapper and sticks it into his pocket. He doesn’t think that he can make a big difference when it comes to littering but he’s been trained a bit like a puppy to keep things clean and organized. He’s not very good with just dropping shit on the floor.] Hadriel is the name of this place. [That’s a good fact to start with.] Where is that in relation to Washington DC?

[He wants to get back if he can. He has no interest in being yelled at by Dr. Sweets.]

DC, huh?

[She hasn't heard of the Jeffersonian, but it's probably something government. Might be worth pretending she's with them, if she was ever back on Earth- which won't happen.

She shakes her head.]

Probably a few universes away.

[Zack's brows furrow with uncertainty.]

What do you mean?

[While he concedes to the possibility of multiple realities. The likely hood that he's on another planet several universes away is very small. There can possibly be other intelligent life on other planets but given the size of the universe and the specific conditions needed for that intelligence to thrive the chance of it happening at the same time that humans inhabited the earth isn't very likely.]

<[ooc: Zack got it! I don't know if you're in the game but I'd love to keep this thread if you want too.]

[Jo is quiet for a moment as she tries to figure out the best way to explain it. In the end, she decides simple is best. Right?]

We're not on Earth.

[Zack's jaw snapped shut.]

What do you have to support this?

[Besides monsters that have never been seen on Earth.]

[That's an interesting way to put that question. She checks out the window before answering.]

The cave gets moved around a lot. We have people from different worlds. The gods don't say it's Earth.

What gods?

[There are many different theologies and while he personally doesn't believe in gods he knows that they have significant anthropological roles in societies.]

[She always hates trying to explain this part.]

Hope and the others. They run this place.

So you've seen them?

[He'd like to see gods and meet creatures from other worlds. It feels a little bit like Star Trek but without anyone wearing red to act as bait.]

The gods? Yeah. Delight used to run a bar, we saw her pretty often. And some of them use the network more.

[Zack's jaw drops and then promptly snaps closed. He can't argue because he doesn't have enough information. Logically what she says sounds crazy but the way she says it and the way she carries herself... It reminds him a lot of Angela and just like Angela, Zack suddenly feels very out of his depth.

He watches Jo for a few seconds, the intensity of his gaze bordering on uncomfortably inappropriate, before he drops his eyes and exhales.]

I don't understand this place.

[Said from a guy who could understand everything. At best he'll have to start over. Learn what he can and then base an understanding around a new paradigm.]

Thanks. [His shifts a little uncomfortably, suddenly appearing more awkward. Zack is great when he's dealing with facts; not people.] For helping me. I couldn't have gotten away on my own.

[Jo lets him stare. It's a hard thing to be new in Hadriel. People deal with that differently.]

I wasn't going to leave you in there. [She doesn't leave people behind.]

[Zack swallows hard, glancing around the odd looking shelter for something else to focus on. Her words were kind and he assumed they were factual given he knew so little about her but he couldn’t help but hear another comment in his head, one that made him understand exactly how Jo felt.]

Why?

[He asks rather suddenly, his gaze fixing back on Jo.]

You don’t even know me.

Don't care. [She shrugs, trying to set him at ease while also taking attention off herself.]

You needed help, I could help. It's what I do.

[Zack still doesn't understand.

He understands risking your life for your friends. It's human nature to become attached to people and while Zack is still trying to figure out that attachment it compels people to do illogical things. It's the emotion he'd classify under love.

What Jo mentions sounds nothing like that. A few questions rattle around his head before they spill out his lips.]

Is there a physical response to helping others? Or putting yourself in situations that might cause yourself harm? [Because it makes no sense to him.]

I don't get off on it. [It's the first thing that comes to mind when he brings up physical responses.

She tries to think of how to explain it, but fails in the end. She shrugs.]

It's just a good thing to do.

[That isn't what he meant and now he felt a little awkward. There are many types of physical responses.]

It makes you feel good. [He spoke like it was a fact though that awkward inflection bleed from the tension in his shoulders and into his words.]

Not getting off. [Another pause.] So when can we leave?

Yeah. [The poor guy. She doesn't think he gets out much. Hopefully that doesn't become an issue here.

At his question she turns to peer out the window, looking up and down the street. It seems clear. Maybe the things are already gone.]

We can try now. Do you have anywhere to go? [...Well, probably not, since he just got here.]

[Zack doesn't get out very much. He has one best friend, a mentor and a handful of people he can ask advice from. He can't read the room or understand a lot of social mores without it being pointed out in a blunt and concise manner.

He considers her question before nodding his head.]

The lab. Is there a lab located here?

[If he's there he can start working and potentially find those he might know.]

[Jo shakes her head, looking back to Zack. He kind of does look like a scientist type.]

There's a clinic, but I don't think there's a lab.

Let's go there.

[It's the firs step and from there he can figure out what he can do. Besides, if there is a clinic then there is probably a morgue too.]

[Zack follows her, rather skilled at taking these sorts of instructions thanks to Booth.]
