I used to run a multi-million dollar research facility.
I have a large family, due to having five siblings, as well as two children of my own.
I met a man who was missing all five senses, but could speak.

How would that man even function? I call the third a lie.

It might be generous calling him a 'man', but no, that's unfortunately very real. He claimed he saw the world with... other senses. [And from Marian's tone of voice, she clearly didn't enjoy the encounter with this individual.]

Uh, the second one? As the lie.

[He hid his red herring in a family thing, so why not?]
einselective: (worried)

[personal profile] einselective 2017-08-13 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
It's that obvious?
aroundthecoroner: (you'll soon find)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-13 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, uh. I didn't mean anything by it. I just figured you snuck something in there, like that you actually have seven siblings, or just one kid.

That's what I did. Kind of.

[personal profile] einselective 2017-08-13 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
...no. It's rather the exact opposite in this case.

[... oh...]

Right. Uh. Sorry?

There is no possible way you have children.
einselective: (slow sidestare)

[personal profile] einselective 2017-08-13 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
...that's correct. Is it that unthinkable?
tongueamok: (➣ that is all i have to say)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You haven't the temperament for them in any way.
einselective: (displeased)

[personal profile] einselective 2017-08-13 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose you think that you do?
tongueamok: (➣ but no one likes when i'm right)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, absolutely not. I'd prefer to keep children as far away from me as possible. They get their grubby hands all over everything.
einselective: (slow sidestare)

[personal profile] einselective 2017-08-13 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I fail to see how you'd have any idea about what exactly is required, then.
tongueamok: (➣ that's just how it was)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Observation of people who are good with children tells me that they require a finesse and patience neither you, nor I, likely possess.

I'm pretty certain the second is the lie, although I'm more curious about the third.
einselective: (displeased)

[personal profile] einselective 2017-08-13 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That's correct. As Carlisle said, I certainly don't have the temperament for them. [Which is said, frankly, with enough of a snide cant to her words that it's hard to make out quite what she actually thinks about the idea.]

In regards to the third, however... the less said, the better.

It was actually the part about having a large family and siblings that I found more unlikely. People who aren't suited to have children still end up with them more often than they should.

[At least she seems aware of not having the right temperament for them, though he does notice that odd tone.]

Why is that?
einselective: (argumentative)

[personal profile] einselective 2017-08-13 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Talking about the Emissary of Void might actually be slightly better than sidetracking into family discussions, although not by much.]

Because everything about him was trouble, and we don't need the parasites getting any new ideas about getting slick new acts and becoming 'chummy' with regular people.
