Two Truths and a Lie

• Make a toplevel for your character
• ICly post two truths and a lie! Or four truths and two lies, or multiple sets of two truths and a lie, or whatever you want. Just make sure to make it clear how many lies there are for others to guess.
• Other characters reply and try to guess the lie
• Learn things/Discuss/Respond to other characters
• Make sure to put in a content warning if any of the truths/lies would warrant one
• Have fun!

Oh, sweet father, you're a real vegetarian? [There's real shock in her voice.] Uhn... then I'll pick the first one as lie.

Why does that surprise you?

Yes, you are correct. I have not been to Antarctica.

You're the first one I meet. And while I am aware there are few people who are vegetarian even in my world we usually associate hunting with survival, especially while traveling long distances. It's... I'm afraid I don't quite understand why someone would actually choose to avoid meat. To be completely honest I thought people were merely jesting when they told me about vegetarians.

So... may I ask what kind of performance you offered while traveling with a circus?

Oh, I see. You come from a world where people must still hunt for food. I used to hunt for meat, though not as often as I would have preferred. The meat industry in the country I am from is cruel to animals, so I decided vegetarianism is a way to show respect for them. My friends and family all eat meat, however, and of course I do not judge them for it. I know they care as much as I do, but in different ways.

[Plus a whole host of other reasons, but that one is usually the easiest to say.]

I was half of a knife-throwing act! My partner threw knives at balloons placed close to my body. It was thrilling for the audience.

Indeed. At least, the part of world where I lived relied on meat for survival since we aren't... really reached by sunlight and it's almost impossible to grow anything. But... industry? [Isn't that a word associated with mass production?] That sounds... different. Anyway, I guess... it's always good to respect other creatures even if they're different.

[She still can't imagine herself ever saying no to meat now or ever.]

Oooh! A show of trust and skills, that must have been great!

Oh, fascinating! So unlike here, there was no artificial light source that mimicked the sun?

Yes, industry, due to the high demand for meat in the country.

[She grins at the memory.] It was! We would have become full members of the circus after one very successful performance if it hadn't been an undercover assignment due to there having been a murder in connection with the circus.

Definitely not. We had lights in the city but we had only darkness above and under us, not all creatures dared to venture in there.

You mean... you have more people than animals?

[She sounds almost disappointed at that]

Oh, What a pity, I bet you would have been an amazing circus performer. It's interesting to see your passion for murder cases isn't only related to books, thought.

that is such a cute rydia icon!!

[personal profile] notimpervious 2017-08-13 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Fascinating.

Some animals yes, some no. [She feels your sadness, Rydia.] There are conservation efforts for species that are endangered, but the outlook is not overall positive for most of them.

I believe so too! As far as my books, they are inspired by the cases I have worked on and the people I work with to solve them. Come to think of it, a book about my characters going undercover at the circus would be very entertaining...

It's from a great artist's blog- want the link to the original drawings?

Still, we have magic. That makes things easier anyway and you'd be surprised by how easily creatures can adapt to live without direct sunlight.

Oh dear... [She's so used to see small human cities surrounded by immense open fields, forests, mountains or other untouched territories... at least on the surface.] I'm sorry your world is dealing with that kind of issues?

Mh-mh! I'd certainly love reading the first hand adventures of a lady going undercover and unraveling the truth in such a colorful and potentially creative setting! [Then again, she only heard about how a circus is supposed to look like, Rydia never actually visited one. Brennan's descriptions, thought, makes her wish even more to go and watch a show.] But, ma'am, circus or not I'm sure whatever you'll write will be a sucess!
