Isn't it cheating when you already know the right answer?

[If anything.] I wouldn't forget something like that. Even a hardened General like you doesn't need a record like that.

I'm not ashamed of my record, I've been able to accomplish a great deal already.

At what cost?

I know I sacrificed a great deal to accomplish what I have, especially at my age. I don't regret it, however, not if I can bring back peace and stability.

[Though there had never been a chance to consider alternatives. He had been born in an Imperial academy, he had been taken onto an Imperial star destroyer and whisked away to the Unknown Regions as a child. His only choice was to survive and that had meant overcoming his weaknesses. He had grown up in space where there had been nowhere else to go.]

Can you? [That is what he seeks too. Will either of them be successful? He cannot allow himself to doubt.

But wondering is different, isn't it?]

I have every confidence I will. It will not be easy but it will be worth it in the end.

[That makes him pause though. He had never really had the chance to think about how things with Kylo work in the long term. He had his duty to the First Order, to establish the Empire again. It's something he's never had to think about before and he's not sure how to approach it.]

You seem...unsure. [He can feel that uncertainty; that pause.] Thinking of someone special?

I admit I often don't understand many things, I'm not familiar with the Force and don't see the galaxy as you both do so all I ask is that he's patient with me as well.
