Two Truths and a Lie

• Make a toplevel for your character
• ICly post two truths and a lie! Or four truths and two lies, or multiple sets of two truths and a lie, or whatever you want. Just make sure to make it clear how many lies there are for others to guess.
• Other characters reply and try to guess the lie
• Learn things/Discuss/Respond to other characters
• Make sure to put in a content warning if any of the truths/lies would warrant one
• Have fun!

Well, yeah, but that would've been a pretty obvious lie.

[Or not, apparently.]
tongueamok: (➣ conclusions gone awry)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I'm less inclined to believe you fell and he landed on your face, giving you a black eye. Though I suppose your run-of-the-mill vampire would have done far worse with a punch.
aroundthecoroner: (my senses fooled me)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-13 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
Well he kind of hit my glasses and knocked them- Never mind. We don't have vampires where I'm from.

[That he... knows of...]

tongueamok: (➣ earnestness only goes so far)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
Are you certain of that? I have seen vampires in this place who could pass for human with ease.
aroundthecoroner: (and some would scream)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-13 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
Well I guess I'm not... completely sure of that. I've never looked into it?

[Just one more thing to add to the pile of "eh, could be real", he guesses.

There is definitely an irony here he's missing.]

Are there vampires here now?
tongueamok: (➣ as far as my conviction could go)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. I have certainly felt there are undeads here, but I know not if they are vampires or otherwise, and I'm not terribly keen on seeking them out to ask.

[As far as Carlisle is concerned, vampires could be everywhere.]
aroundthecoroner: (would always rule me)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-13 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
Does everyone in this place just like, magically sense the presence of other people?

[Said the guy whose brain-ghost can also do that.]
tongueamok: (➣ then we'll both be miserable)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
Not everyone, and not people. Undeads.

[The way he says that implies a distinction.]
aroundthecoroner: (and some would scream)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-13 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
[On the one hand, Michael definitely doesn't consider the Visitor people, but this sounds vaguely.... racist? Species-ist? Whatever.]

Okay, I get zombies and ghosts, but why aren't vampires still people?
tongueamok: (➣ i'd rather not)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
Because they're undeads. They are abominations to the natural order, perverting life around them with their necrotic existence.

[So yeah, vaguely racist/species-ist/whatever.]
aroundthecoroner: (mcscuse me)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-13 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Wow, okay dude. Take it down about five notches.]

Well, what if they think you're perverting death with your... living... existence?

[Checkmate, atheists anti-undead people.]
tongueamok: (➣ not making a habit of it)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Insert a look of pure incredulousness here.]

One does not choose their birth. They do choose to become vampires, and those who have it thrust upon them unwillingly are avoiding a demise they were denied upon their turning.

[Needless to say, Carlisle isn't exactly a big hit at parties.]
aroundthecoroner: (some would sing)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-13 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Okay this is getting a little... Ideological? And the Visitor couldn't give two shits so it's clearly not a big deal. Maybe time to deescalate.]

Alright, well, I'll just have to take your word for it I guess. Like I said, I don't know about any vampires where I'm from- Wait, did you ever figure out which one was the lie?
tongueamok: (➣ was fine when last i checked)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
Of course I—

[Oh, no wait. He totally didn't.]

Er. I'm hoping it's the second one, as the third one makes you sound like a lunatic.

[He really should make a mental note not to get into arguments over the personhood of vampires with a potential organ-collecting maniac.]
aroundthecoroner: (my eyes away)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-13 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, third one's true. I'm not a doctor.

[Organ-collecting maniac it is, sorry Carlisle.]
tongueamok: (➣ potentially problematic)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-13 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[.......................................................................]

I'd also consider you a master in unsettling statements.
aroundthecoroner: (would always rule me)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-14 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[???Whatever do you mean???]

Um. Thanks?

[Surely that was a compliment.]
tongueamok: (➣ decisions decisions)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-14 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
[It wasn't, but Carlisle's expression absolutely says yeah, let's pretend it was.]

If you aren't a doctor and you deal so often with corpses, are you some kind of mortician? Or a gravedigger?

[Because if he's not, the Carlisle d o e s n o t want to know.]
aroundthecoroner: (open flames)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-14 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, neither. Used to be a mortician, though. Now I'm an autopsy technician.

[You probably don't want to know too much about that either, Carlisle.]
tongueamok: (➣ as far as my conviction could go)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-14 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Have a look of pure, albeit polite, disgust. Yeah, he probably didn't want to know, but he was the one who made the mistake of asking.]

And how does that differ from a mortician, exactly?

[AND YET HE KEEPS ASKING QUESTIONS.]
aroundthecoroner: (I heard voices)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-14 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
[The disgust doesn't bother him at all. He's very used to it.]

We don't prepare bodies for burial. We dissect them to figure out how they died. Take samples to send off to labs, collect any evidence of a crime, catalogue everything in case something's off- that kinda thing.

[You asked, buddy.]
tongueamok: (➣ potentially problematic)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-14 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ah.

[Continued disgust.]

The morticians and embalmers in my world do that, if necessary. It's best to get a scryer, though.
aroundthecoroner: (I learned the voices)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-14 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
A scryer.

[Uh-huh.]

Like a fortune-teller? We don't- that doesn't work where I'm from.

[It does, but don't tell him that.]
tongueamok: (➣ allowed disagreement)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-08-14 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Not a fortune-teller, no. [He says that in a tone like such a suggestion would be absolutely ludicrous.] Someone who can use their abilities to see just how the deceased, er... died.
aroundthecoroner: (my eyes away)

[personal profile] aroundthecoroner 2017-08-14 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'd say that sounds convenient, but I'd be out of a job.

[And there are only so many jobs that meet his criteria, okay?]
