Two Truths and a Lie

• ICly post two truths and a lie! Or four truths and two lies, or multiple sets of two truths and a lie, or whatever you want. Just make sure to make it clear how many lies there are for others to guess.
• Other characters reply and try to guess the lie
• Learn things/Discuss/Respond to other characters
• Make sure to put in a content warning if any of the truths/lies would warrant one

If we were playing for something we'd be tied.

Dogs are the best, if you raise 'em right. Sounds like you ran up against ones people used for defense, they might've still been good to their masters. But a good dog cuddles, will learn commands and tricks, will protect you from strangers... they're great. I don't have time for one anymore or I'd have one.

Don't think they were trained. Something in the atmosphere made 'em a little bonkers. Always heard stories about them eating people, but I'm pretty sure that was a just a story the older kids told to freak us out. 80% sure.

Huh. Guess I need to meet some dogs. I like cats, though. Dane caught one in the pelican once, and we kept it as a mascot for a few months. Cute little bugger.

Fine, then what are we playing for? And it's your turn.

There's a guy here I see all the time with a dog, it looks friendly. I'll ask if we can have a puppy playdate. Dogs are usually friendlier than cats, I've never had one. Ma was allergic.

Right. The year I enlisted, I had nine foster siblings. I suck at chess. That cat we found in the pelican? We named him Killer.

Okay. I dye my hair, I talk to my Ma at least three times a day, and I've got a baseball card collection.

Wrong. I didn't say I liked talking to her that much, just that I did.

Talking talking, thank god she can't send texts, she'd never leave me alone.

[ He grins, a little wry. ]

My Ma's a real trip. You'd hate her.

Oh my God. You are way nicer than I would've been.

Maybe. I'd try not to.

[ Drake laughs softly. ]

She's... very blunt. She flat out told Liv she was too pale and needed a makeover when they met. And then gave her one. It was awful.

Ouch. [Ephemera has to grin at that, a little.] Your girl's a trooper. But it's your mom. So it's different, I guess.

[Apparently it's different with your parents. He's heard that.]

She was amazing. I said "she's beautiful, ma," and Ma said, "so's the sun but you can't look straight at it" and Liv just laughed. And let her put makeup on her while I fixed the sink.

[ He goes quiet... he doesn't miss the constant calls about nothing, but he does miss his mother. He's never not spoken to her for this long before. ]

[Ephemera hesitates. It's not something he knows, having a flesh and blood family. His was one he found and then lost.]

You miss her.

[braveoff]

Yeah. It's like something's missing, now.

[requiemshark]

I'm sorry.

[He says it quietly. Because he has lost family, even if it's not quite the same. It hurts - God, it hurts - but then, eventually, you learn to live with it.]

[braveoff]

It's okay. She's fine, so. [ He feels like he doesn't have much right to be upset, when Ephemera lost his whole family. ]

You wanna keep playing or did I win?

[requiemshark]

Yeah. Probably driving somebody crazy right this moment. [He says it lightly, trying to get Drake to smile.] I can see where you get it from.

Eh. Let's keep going. Who's turn is it?

[braveoff]

[ He does get a smile. It starts out a bit sad -- his mother is surely bothering someone else, probably because she's a wreck over him -- and then turns purely amused. ]

Asshole.

Your turn for "facts," my turn guessing.

[There, that's better. Ephemera just grins, shaking his head.]

You're stuck with me, unfortunately.

Okay. I got high off alien cough drops one time. I can write with both hands. And I hit on a bouncer because the stripper dared me to.

I'll take it. [ Ephemera's been a good friend, so far. ]

[Ephemera laughs, delighted.]

Nope! Took me forever, but I definitely can. It's even legible.
