Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

SCENARIO ONE: SLIPPERY NAKED PEOPLE
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

No big deal, but there's a freaky wall-climbing zombie thing stalking you. Maybe you should get inside? Or run. Or just accept death. This time, the Door has brought in some Descendants, from the Uncharted video game.

Descendents are emaciated, man-eating monsters that used to be normal people until affected by a virus - you know how that goes! Terribly, always. They are fast and agile and quite strong, and they will stalk you and crawl up walls and maybe break your neck if they can. Badass.]

SCENARIO TWO: THE FUTURE ISN'T BRIGHT
[You found a mirror. It's your mirror, created just for you, and when you look into it - well. You might not want to look more than once, because it shows an image of the worst possible future you could imagine for yourself. Maybe you're dead. Maybe someone you love it. Maybe you've lost everything. Basically, it sucks.

What are you gonna do? Throw it away? Smash it? Keep looking over and over because you love pain? Or maybe someone else threw theirs away, and you're the one that found it. You really, really want to look. Invasive, maybe, but your curiosity is killing you. Just a peek...

This is a mini version of our Bad End event this month.]

SCENARIO THREE: VISIT ME AND EXPLAIN YOUR PASSIONS
[You know that totally inconsequential hobby? The one that you love? Or maybe your favorite TV show or comic book? Wouldn't it be great if you had someone to talk to about it? Someone who would listen patiently while you explain the family tree from that obscure fantasy novel you reread every year?

Well, wait no longer! Your time is now! The moment you make eye contact with someone, you'll know they want to listen to you explain your obsession. They've just been waiting and hoping you'll come along and educate them! So go to town, buddy, tell them all about your waifu.

Or maybe a stranger just walked up to you and started talking about their favorite knitting pattern. That's... cool. Are you gonna interrupt them? Walk away? Get into an argument about how your favorite knitting pattern is so much better? Now's the time to show your passion, or possibly your complete disinterest! Go for it!]

[ the logical part of his brain says that there should be nothing but empty space where he's standing right now, with haneul actively putting as much distance between himself and these things as he possibly can. it's not that he isn't afraid - he is, terrified. but the monsters confuse him too.

they make him feel sad. ]

There's nothing I can do for you. I'm sorry.

[ technically, he could do one thing by becoming their next meal, but despite his lingering, haneul doesn't plan on actually doing that. he finally turns to run, grabbing for the hand of anyone else along the way. ]

Come on, think of it as a video game or a movie!

[ sure, have a little fun, even when you're running for your life. ]

sorrow/hope:

[ haneul hasn't destroyed his mirror. for one thing, it's beautiful. it reminds him of an antique mirror that he was given once, after a family was convinced that some malevolent spirit was trapped in it. they were only half-right, but he took the mirror anyway.

but this one unsettles him in a way that haunted mirrors never had. is it really even a mirror when it doesn't show any reflection? not his, not his surroundings. there's just nothing.

he doesn't know how long he's been standing there, staring at nothing, but long enough that he didn't notice someone else close by. ]

Would you mind?

[ hanuel beckons them closer while holding the mirror out. ]

I think something might be wrong with my eyes.

[Kyna's no stranger to zapping monsters with magic, and today is no different, it's just that she's getting sick of it. This happens all the time, and it's not like back home where there's at least a separation between where she might run into something nasty and where she knows she won't. She's not going to trip over some awful abomination in Brooklyn. Mostly.

Here, she just looks annoyed and a little tired when the creatures start to gather, and she's two seconds away from casting a spell when the man next to her grabs her hand. It catches her off guard, because she wasn't really paying attention to him, but all she can manage is to blink at him in surprise before he's pulling her away. What he says throws her off even more, but she finds herself smiling anyway.]

God, this would be the world's shittiest video game, you realize that?

[ don't let the grin fool you, he's serious about that. just ask him about the legendary glitched level 100 in duck hunt. yeah, he's seen it.

haneul can't remember the last time he actually ran from something, and he's surprised at how fast on his feet he actually is. he glances back over his shoulder to make sure he's not dragging her. ]

I'd like to play tomorrow too. [ because that would mean they'd lived through today. he races through an open door, quickly glancing at the walls and ceiling before closing it. ] Excuse us, we just need to borrow your four solid walls.

[ haneul calls out, just in case he ran them into the most dilapidated apartment in the entire cave. but if he did, there's no one home right now. ]

What were those poor things?

[That is a lot of optimism to take in all at once, and as soon as they're inside, Kyna slams the door shut behind them and leans against it, trying to catch her breath and figure out what the hell she should even say to that.]

They weren't poor things, they were trying to eat us.

[ ...she does have a point there. haneul smiles sheepishly, one corner of his mouth tugging up just a little higher. he inches closer to the nearest window to watch one of them crawl across the side of another building. ]

I know stories about things like zombies are popular, but the body actually moving without a soul...I thought it only worked the other way around. [ souls without bodies, that he has experience with. he steps away from the window before he does something stupid, like being seen. ] They didn't get a bite, did they?
