test drive meme #23
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open August 25th, and apps are open September 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: SLIPPERY NAKED PEOPLE
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
No big deal, but there's a freaky wall-climbing zombie thing stalking you. Maybe you should get inside? Or run. Or just accept death. This time, the Door has brought in some Descendants, from the Uncharted video game.
Descendents are emaciated, man-eating monsters that used to be normal people until affected by a virus - you know how that goes! Terribly, always. They are fast and agile and quite strong, and they will stalk you and crawl up walls and maybe break your neck if they can. Badass.]
S O R R O W / H O P E
SCENARIO TWO: THE FUTURE ISN'T BRIGHT
[You found a mirror. It's your mirror, created just for you, and when you look into it - well. You might not want to look more than once, because it shows an image of the worst possible future you could imagine for yourself. Maybe you're dead. Maybe someone you love it. Maybe you've lost everything. Basically, it sucks.
What are you gonna do? Throw it away? Smash it? Keep looking over and over because you love pain? Or maybe someone else threw theirs away, and you're the one that found it. You really, really want to look. Invasive, maybe, but your curiosity is killing you. Just a peek...
This is a mini version of our Bad End event this month.]
L O V E
SCENARIO THREE: VISIT ME AND EXPLAIN YOUR PASSIONS
[You know that totally inconsequential hobby? The one that you love? Or maybe your favorite TV show or comic book? Wouldn't it be great if you had someone to talk to about it? Someone who would listen patiently while you explain the family tree from that obscure fantasy novel you reread every year?
Well, wait no longer! Your time is now! The moment you make eye contact with someone, you'll know they want to listen to you explain your obsession. They've just been waiting and hoping you'll come along and educate them! So go to town, buddy, tell them all about your waifu.
Or maybe a stranger just walked up to you and started talking about their favorite knitting pattern. That's... cool. Are you gonna interrupt them? Walk away? Get into an argument about how your favorite knitting pattern is so much better? Now's the time to show your passion, or possibly your complete disinterest! Go for it!]
Fear - YAY for gaping descendants!
She's always been trying to keep up with the students in her father's school and those years of training helps her now. Even barefoot and dressed in white, Zelda is able to slip away from the writhing creatures that had surrounded her.
Her head turns to look at the shadow behind her.] Come with me. [She cries out over her shoulder as she continues to run towards the area walls.]

Sheik judges her moment, hits the approaching pair with a fistful of needles, and runs after the other girl.]
I do not know this place, but the ground seems to be rising in those tunnels there. [She points toward the way she had been making earlier.] Perhaps they will lead us to the surface.
no subject
Her head turns to glance behind them.]
They haven't followed. [She announces in a heavy breath.]
no subject
[Sheik glances at the gate to be sure then turns her headto see this new place. The arena crumbling around them is strangely ominous, it's air oppressive and strangely bloody. And the sky-no, she realizes in concern, that is no sky at all.]
Yet more replace it. I recall no place like this in Hyrule, not even in legend....
no subject
[Zelda's bright blue eyes focus on Sheik.] You're from the land below the clouds then? The world that has been covered in darkness. You wear the same symbol as Impa. [She holds the golden harp close to her chest as she spoke. Zelda doesn't know where they are or what might have happened but Sheik is wearing the same eye as Impa. She is sure that she can trust this stranger.]
Please. You must have been taken from the same place as me.
[While Zelda knows of the doors of time, she hasn't guessed that it's happened here as well.]
no subject
[She isn't quite sure why she says that to this woman- to this unknown girl not so much older than Sheik. Yet the light that had shone upon her was familiar, and so somehow was her companion, and it almost seemed that Sheik should tell her that. Could tell her more.
And then Sheik's gaze falls upon the harp she carries, and her eyes flick back up to the other one in surprise. The curves of it's frame are not just familiar. Sheik knows them better than her mother's face.
Maybe better than her own.]
The Eye of the Sheikah is the oldest symbol of the Shadow Folk, for the eye of Truth is needed most by those who would walk in Darkness. And Impa has been a name many of my people have borne, among them our greatest warriors and our wisest counselors. My own teacher carries it now.
But so far as I know only one Impa met with a maiden of the Sky.
[I know your name, don't I? some small part of her thinks.]
no subject
Bright blue eyes meet Sheik's gaze.]
I am the Maiden of the SKy. That is what Impa called me when we first met.
[It's strange but this person...]
You remind me of her and not just because of your clothing.
[Zelda doesn't understand what is happening but she recognizes the feeling in her chest. The feeling that Impa had once told her to trust. This person is not a stranger but of a different time. It isn't completely unusual. Impa had come through the gates of time to speak to Zelda and she had taken sanctuary in one in order to use her gifts to hold back the darkness.]
Who are you?
no subject
Time itself must have gone awry for us to meet...but I know of you, Zelda of Skyloft. Your tale is an old one in my time, but never forgotten. Not among the Shadow Folk, and not among your daughters.
[Of which, of course, Sheik is both. One by tutelage, and one by blood.]
The Great Impa is remembered still among her people, for her loyalty and for her courage. It is an honor to be compared to her in any way.
[Sheik hesitates before she answers that question. The truth...well, Sheik is a truth as well. It is the name she has carried for seven long years, the life she has grown up in. If it is a mask, it is one she has grown into.
But the first truth, the older truth. I am Zelda, Princess of Hyrule. I carry your name, I carry your blood. Is that fair to drop on a young woman, someone she has just met? And how does she explain...
Sheik still isn't sure, and so she hesitates.]
I am called Sheik, a minstrel of the Sheikah clan. I serve the Princess of Hyrule, as her shadow and her agent in the places to which she cannot go.
[She gives a small bow of her head.] And I am at your service, Your Grace, for as long as we are here.
no subject
Her expression doesn't falter but there is a moment of uncertainty reflected back in Zelda's vibrant blue gaze.] He succeeds. [Her hero.] Thank you Sheik. I am honored to have you at my side.
[Her head bows a few degrees forward.]
I know that the future can change and I don't wish to know it but I am glad that the people are able to remain safe. Even after I am gone.
no subject
Their future is in good hands, Your Grace. [Well, Link's good hands, anyway. She'll never be so certain about her own.]
Perhaps we should leave this place. There is something in the air here that feels foul.
no subject
Yes. Let's go.
[She moves to follow Shiek before pausing.]
And thank you. For your help and guidance.
