Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open November 24th, and apps are open December 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!
F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROLL
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
This time, the monsters are a bit more transparent, as the Door will bring in a few skeletons! Skeletons often accompany the fear of death and can such be found as entry-level monsters in many different stories and games of all kinds.
Skeletons are well... skeletons.... but they move around like they're still alive. Some of them use weapons to make you fear death by killing you, which is cool for them I suppose. They're not particularly smart and they can be tricked very easily, but once they hone in on a victim they won't rest until they make everyone else just as dead as they are.]

SCENARIO TWO: SQUAD GOALS
[Hey, look to the guy or gal to the left or right side of you. Did you guys just become best friends?
I think you did! For the next little while, you find yourself entering into these odd platonic relationships you'd never considered before. That guy who you kind of awkwardly made eye contact with at the grocery store last week? Best friends! The lady who's friends with your roommate's sister? Inseparable pals!
This event, based off of our recent event of the same name inspires you and all your weird facebook acquaintances to suddenly feel like you're best buds. You guys will share everything together, do everything together, and just generally think the world of one another. Enjoy your new and beautiful friendship!]

SCENARIO THREE: INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS
[You know that voice deep in the back of your head that you generally ignore? You know, the one that tells you that you're stupid or worthless or that you should push that old lady into traffic? Well, usually you ignore them- we know you do, because you're a decent person who doesn't experience that kind of self doubt.
Now, though, all those little voices seem to have some merit. You're not sure why, but suddenly just giving into your weirdest impulses sounds like a good idea. You'll have to fight even harder to ignore them, particularly the ones that tell you to do something. What would that guy do if you just up and punched him in the face? What about if you just broke that chick's window? You'll have to find out!
Alternatively, all those thoughts about how lame you are and how you'll never succeed at anything are a bit more believable too. Hopefully you don't have too many of those- but hey, if you do then you can always drown your sorrows away at the local bar!]

( what she remembers is that he and most of the others tortured a guy for information, and that she's still pissed about that, but that he's apparently also her bff right now so clearl it wasn't that big of a deal? )

[Lee can scarce believe it, but from what she says it has to be true. She knows things about him and about his work. And most importantly, she knows about Alphas]
Alright. We need to start from the beginning. No, I'm not trying to, um, 'shrink' you as you put it. But if you're an Alpha, and if I am your doctor, then we are from different points in our timeline. I know that must be hard to believe
[Especially if she suffers from memory loss as she just mentioned]

( she nods. why is he looking at her like that. this is weird. she doesn't like it. dr. rosen is supposed to know who she is. he's the guy who gave her a phone to start a video journal with, to help her rather than take advantage of her. he's supposed to be the one reminding her of things, not the other way around. )
Timelines. ( she fidgets with the pizzagrapes. suddenly they're just not that exciting. ) So... this place. That Door thing. It time travels?

In a way it does. You see, the Door isn't consistent. Its standards of selectivity escapes us. So sometimes it picks people from entirely different worlds, other times it picks from the same world but not the same time.
[A pause as he tries to think of a better way to put it. His eyes fall on the snack in her hand]
Take those grapes for example. The cave picked the form of a grape but the taste of pizza. It doesn't have to follow the normal rules of reality that you and I would expect back home.

So even you can't science it. ( she looks down at the pizzagrapes and makes a quiet sound. it'd be a laugh if she weren't so mixed up inside over this development. ) Must be pretty weird.

[His expression then falters, turning apologetic. The way she speaks to him...she's speaking as someone talking to a person they know well. A person who should therefore know her well in return.]
I'm sorry, I'm afraid I really don't. But I wish that I did.
[He holds out a hand then, trying awkwardly to initiate a handshake]

She could just start over, she realizes now. She could just let her life take its natural course, let the memory of Dr. Rosen fade away. Then they could get to know each other from the start again. Come on, Kat. This is how you've been forever. This is how you used to be.
But he changed that. He gave her what she's been missing her whole life. And now that she really, truly knows what she could've had, she doesn't want to give it up. She refuses.]
Yeah. [She nods. Looks at his hand. Takes it. Her grip is weak at first, and then she swallows back the sadness and gives his hand a firm shake.] I'm Kat. I forget everything after, like, six weeks? Maybe less. But I can learn how to do anything just by watching. My muscle memory is perfect. That's my ability, and the downside.
[...that's a hell of an intro. But this is a hell of a thing to happen, so hey. Works out.]

So your Alpha ability is a form of eidetic memory. One that only works in the short term.
["All Alpha abilities have a downside". He had said that to Cameron Hicks a good long while ago. And, as is proven by this young lady, it remains true to form. Though of the downsides he's encountered, this one is particularly extreme.]
Kat, would you mind recounting for me where we had gotten to in your treatment? Was there anything we had found that helped you ground yourself or construct some semblance of a timeline for yourself? If there was then I'd very much like to find a way to make sure you have that here with you in Hadriel.
[And if she can only remember a particular stretch of time, he best ask now.]

This is so weird, god. Is this what people feel like when they talk to her? Has she made the same friends a few times, only to ultimately forget them?]
Umm... you gave me a phone to keep a video journal with. Whatever I think is worth remembering, I think you said? A lot of it is stupid stuff I think is funny. People's names and faces and jobs, things like that. I have a paper diary too because memory cards don't last forever -- kinda like my memory.
[She now grabs that phone and flicks through the notes app, skimming the previews for things that happened. There's that stupid commercial, and then further back, a note that starts with Today I was Patient 0 for Nina's new trick.
We tried to get Nina to pull a memory. Like sensory memory? It was pretty cool. I remembered some stupid commercial I watched when I was sixteen.
[She puts her phone back in her pocket, shrugging.]
I'm still doing the journal thing. It was a good idea. And like, now I know I think you have good taste in music.
[She grins and throws horns -- totally the wrong gesture. Totally the point.]

[He nods distractedly before it dawns on him that one particular part of what she's said is more than just odd. It's concerning.]
...Kat. Could you repeat that part about Nina again? Are you saying we experimented on you with Nina's abilities?

[She grabs her phone again, swiping through until she finds that particular entry, reading it more closely now.]
Yeah. So, you had a theory that Nina could push people to remember memories that were blocked or something. You called it "pulling." So you asked me if she could try it on me, and I said sure. Like, why not, what do I have to lose? Nina asked me questions about my sixteenth birthday.
[She pauses, frowning at her phone.] Hold on, I remember this. I wrote that it worked, but...
[She goes to check her more recent notes.]
Yeah. Uh-- whatI remembered was just a commercial.
[She shrugs, but she doesn't quite manage to hide her frown. Kat had hoped the woman in the blue dress was her mother, but no such luck. It made enough of an impact on her that she typed it up. It'd be so easy to forget that she even remembered anything, but the pain of absence is something she's never felt before -- or at least, not an ache she remembers. Knowing she's been here already might help her out in the future.]
Anyway. [She clears her throat, lowers her phone, and looks up at Rosen.] I guess brains store memories even if we can't get to them.

Nina's powers, they have the same potent effects as drug addiction, 'playing' with them is akin to playing with a gun. And then to use them to toy with the mind of another Alpha, opening the possibility for any manner of permanent physical and psychological damage...
..He feels a ball of fear sitting in his throat. The same as when he had had a sinking feeling whenever he heard the name Binghamton but had never wanted to look. Now...now he's not so sure he wants to know what is coming after he gets out of his cell.
But right now he needs to focus. Kat is here. Kat is the present. She needs to be his priority. What is coming down the line, well, thats out of his hands in the cave.]
Brains store information indefinitely until they are no longer functional, however they are programmed only to keep a certain amount immediately accessible to us, whatever amount it deems necessary for day to day function mostly...
[He reaches up push his hair back out of his face]

Where I'm-- [She makes a face that's the visual equivalent of "idk", then shrugs.] I've been roughing it in the orchard since I got here. It's nice, there's always food around. Plus, it's close to the hot springs, which are really nice by the way.
