Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open November 24th, and apps are open December 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.

Two quick points here as well:

1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROLL
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

This time, the monsters are a bit more transparent, as the Door will bring in a few skeletons! Skeletons often accompany the fear of death and can such be found as entry-level monsters in many different stories and games of all kinds.

Skeletons are well... skeletons.... but they move around like they're still alive. Some of them use weapons to make you fear death by killing you, which is cool for them I suppose. They're not particularly smart and they can be tricked very easily, but once they hone in on a victim they won't rest until they make everyone else just as dead as they are.]

SCENARIO TWO: SQUAD GOALS
[Hey, look to the guy or gal to the left or right side of you. Did you guys just become best friends?
I think you did! For the next little while, you find yourself entering into these odd platonic relationships you'd never considered before. That guy who you kind of awkwardly made eye contact with at the grocery store last week? Best friends! The lady who's friends with your roommate's sister? Inseparable pals!

This event, based off of our recent event of the same name inspires you and all your weird facebook acquaintances to suddenly feel like you're best buds. You guys will share everything together, do everything together, and just generally think the world of one another. Enjoy your new and beautiful friendship!]

SCENARIO THREE: INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS
[You know that voice deep in the back of your head that you generally ignore? You know, the one that tells you that you're stupid or worthless or that you should push that old lady into traffic? Well, usually you ignore them- we know you do, because you're a decent person who doesn't experience that kind of self doubt.

Now, though, all those little voices seem to have some merit. You're not sure why, but suddenly just giving into your weirdest impulses sounds like a good idea. You'll have to fight even harder to ignore them, particularly the ones that tell you to do something. What would that guy do if you just up and punched him in the face? What about if you just broke that chick's window? You'll have to find out!

Alternatively, all those thoughts about how lame you are and how you'll never succeed at anything are a bit more believable too. Hopefully you don't have too many of those- but hey, if you do then you can always drown your sorrows away at the local bar!]

[Would that her ability's downside made her forget these thoughts as soon as they popped into her head, but nope, she'll remember them for another month or so. It's the worst, Kat thinks, remembering all the bad things. Harken told her once that one good memory is worth all the bad ones, and mostly she agrees, but day in and day out of shit like this is not something Kat wants to remember. She's limited her journaling, both in video and on paper, to the end of the day, summarizing what happened rather than going over the ugly details.

And honestly, she's glad when this guy almost bumps into her, cutting short the thought that she should just destroy her journals now (if they're destroyed in an event or an accident, you'll lose it all anyway. why form relationships with people, kat? you're just going to forget them. you're just going to hurt them.). She attributes his fast movement to some sort of Alpha ability -- which means that whatever's bothering him must relate to his ability's downside.]

I could say the same to you. [Which might amuse him, given she's 5'2" in flats.] You're not thinking of murdering me, are you?

[.......well that's one way to start a conversation.]

[Carlisle can hear her heartbeat, can hear each pulse of that drives the blood through her arteries and veins. This isn't new. He's a vampire; his senses are sharp and well beyond human capabilities. He's not used to being so focused in on it, outside of medical diagnosis and treatment anyway. And it takes a moment to shake those thoughts off, at least so they're only lingering in the background of his mind instead of the forefront. That's an improvement isn't it?

For now he'll take it as such.

Her question catches him off guard, and his throat tightens.] The very last thing I want to do is hurt you, or anyone.

[Speaking the words makes him feel better, if only the barest amount.] But something about this place is... I don't feel like myself.

[She should know by now not to take people at their word, but without the chance to check her journal entries, all she's got to inform her choices is the very recent past. For now, that includes arriving here and gathering as much information about this place as she can.

Which, for the record, isn't much.

Still, she relaxes a little when he tells her he'd rather not hurt her. That sounds like something Stanton Parish might say, but the memories she has of him are dim and fading now. So. Here goes.]

Yeah, something's going around, I guess. People who've been here a while call it an event. I haven't been here long, but I can already tell you I hate events.

[That's probably a tiny bit too personal, but hey, he'll remember it, right? He can remind her of it when she inevitably forgets it.]

So what's "yourself" like? Besides not a psycho.

Then something is happening. I see.

[It's equal parts a relief and horrifying. Relief that his growing hunger (because wildlife is not exactly something he's managed to find here) isn't warping his moral code on its own. But horror that wherever he is, whoever has brought him here can affect him this way. He manages a smile, but it's a tired looking expression.] I don't believe I like these events much either.

Me? Nothing that interesting, I'm sure. Ordinary enough. [A lie, that last bit. But he continues with the truth,] I'm a doctor. [Another smile as he adds,] Carlisle Cullen.

And you?

[As far as Kat can tell, nobody likes the compulsions, but there's not much anyone can do unless they happen to be skipped over for one reason or another.]

Cool. [Doctors are cool, she guesses, except the ones that experiment on Alphas.] I'm Kat. I'm... kind of like a government agent. It's a weird relationship, but we're legit.

[And they come with this radical idea that genocide is bad!! Wow! Who'da thunk that one? Not Stanton Parish, that's for sure.]

Doctors'll come in handy here. The newbie guide says it's pretty likely people'll get hurt.

[attendings]

Government agent. You seem so young.

[Says the centuries old vampire with the face of a man in his thirties. But he does look at her more curiously now. And he'd agree fully with the doctors are cool except those who experiment thing. Given what he is, what his family is, he'd certainly worry about that eventuality should the wrong humans ever find out about their existence.

Such as a government agency.]

It's good to meet you, Kat. And I'm afraid you're right. This strange city likely has a greater need for doctors than most places.

[Carlisle intends to help how he can, while he's here.] I want to help, though I'm eager to get back to my family.

[YEAH ABOUT THAT. There are reasons her teammates are wary of the government, and Kat has gathered that it has to do with exactly that. Plus, there's also the randos who kidnapped her that one time and hooked her up to god knows what for some... weird experiments. She's with you on that, Carlisle.

But back to the matter at hand.]

Hey, I'm-- [Hold on. She has to think about it for a second.] Okay, I don't know exactly how old I am, but I'm not that young. Definitely old enough to have my job.

[Ok, Kat. Estimates vary, but somewhere around her mid-20s seems to be it.]

Yeah, that's what a lot of people around here say. But with the monsters and the events and the war or whatever it is that's going on, it doesn't sound like we're getting back any time soon.

[It must be really nice, having a family. Knowing and remembering them. She feels jealous of that not for the first time, but when she asks about it, the feeling is gone.]

What's your family like?

[attendings]

You don't know how old you are?

[That's strange for humans, isn't it? Carlisle doesn't want to pry. After all, he understands the need to keep secrets more than most. But it's hard to entirely hold back the curiosity.

There's a visible flinch of dismay at the idea of not finding his way back home in the near future. His family is strong and capable and more than able to take care of themselves, but that doesn't mean he won't worry. That doesn't mean he doesn't already miss them desperately.]

My family is... we're close. They've made this life worth living, for me. We're unconventional, perhaps. We aren't related by blood. But we've found each other throughout the years. My wife and my children -- grown children. And my granddaughter. [His family is complicated.]

You must have people waiting for you as well, outside this place.

Yeah. I forget most things.

[She shrugs, like details such as her age ffs, don't matter at all. They didn't used to until the night Bill Harken and Cameron Hicks walked into the Alpha fights. Shortly after that, she became part of their team, adopted into their family of Alphas on a mission and with only each other to truly understand them. Oh, and Dr. Rosen. He counts too.]

I don't really know. We... My team is like my family. They're all I have, right. But a lot of them did some really sketchy stuff that I'm pretty sure I'll forgive them for if they act like they're sorry. Most of them do. Anyway, yeah, they're waiting for me, I guess. That's what family's supposed to do, right? Sounds like that's what yours does.
