Test Drive Meme #6

Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open February 23rd, and apps are open March 1st.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: BLOBBED
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something on the rooftops watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to separate you from your group and tear you into pieces. This time, the Door has brought in several Blobs, from the similarly titled 1988 movie, The Blob for you meet.

These gelatinous creatures have no weak spots or brains that can be sliced or crushed to kill them. Instead, their only goal is to absorb and dissolve its prey so that it can grow larger. Think that its, er, blob-like form makes it easy to avoid? Think again- it moves faster than one might expect, as shown in its canon 'kill' video here (with a healthy cw warning for gore and 80's movie effects).]

R A G E
SCENARIO TWO: WENDIGONE
[Hey, that snack you found? It might taste a little too familiar. At least you don't have time to worry about accidental cannibalism too much though, because you've now become host to a vengeful wendigo spirit! The transformation will be sped up for the purposes of this test drive, though you can post at whichever point in the change you desire. Want to tear people to shreds? Go for it. Want to try to clutch onto the last few pieces of your humanity? Be our guest!

On the flipside, as someone who is unaffected, you may be trying to arm yourself and take these wendigos head-on... or, you may be trying to figure out a way you can save them, which would involve somehow trapping them on Hope's altar. Think you can handle that?

This is a mini version of our Who What Where Wendigo event this month!]

H O P E

SCENARIO THREE: CARNATION DAY
[You know those moments in high school that everyone used to dread? Where everyone would spend a week or so with the opportunity to buy a carnation or two for someone they like, only for carnation day to come along and dash any hopes and dreams you had of getting a flower from that special someone?

Well, here's your chance to relive that day- but, you know, hopefully make it end a little happier.

In this prompt, some characters will emerge through the Door- or wake up, or just suddenly appear- with carnations clutched in their hands. These flowers can be any color of your choosing, and all have tags on them. They can be addressed to you or to someone else, and in that FROM category? Well, from your secret admirer, of course- or any other character who may or may not have sent it! Here's to hoping they're a good one!]

[Miriam hums under her breath, considering her options. Sticking with Irisa seems like a good idea for now. It's always nice to have scary friends. Now just to seal the deal...]

Can I stay with you? I have grenades. I'll share if you keep us safe.
tishinka: (ᘎ I said today is but a rumor)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-24 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Irisa stares at her for a moment. Who gave this kid grenades? A knife or a gun she could understand, but grenades? That seems a like overkill.]

Why do you have grenades?

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-24 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Miriam shrugs, nonchalant.] 'cause. You want 'em or not?
tishinka: (ᘎ Or two or three or four or five)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-24 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
[That just makes it even more suspicious but they could end up being useful.]

I'm assuming if you have them you know how to use them. Hold onto them. I have my knives.

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-24 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Miriam just beams at her.] But you can throw further than I can.

[Probably. Maybe. Miriam has bird arms. She scrambles up, fluffing Barnaby's ears. He makes a doggy sigh.] But probably only throw them at big things? 'cause they've got thermite in them, and it burns like crazy.
tishinka: (ᘎ I said today is but a rumor)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-24 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Just hold onto them for now. Hopefully we won't need them.

[The fact that the grenades have thermite in them doesn't seem to phase Irisa, at least not externally. Internally she's really beginning to wonder about this kid. On the other hand, at least they aren't shrill grenades.]

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-24 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Miriam pats her knapsack with a wink. She comes prepared, see, she's useful. Therefore Irisa should want to protect her, because there's absolutely no use in a dead girl, no sir.] Yessum. You said you're a lawkeeper, or somethin'? Izzat like the army?

[The Imperial Army is long gone on Echo Six, but not everywhere.]
tishinka: (Default)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-24 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
No. It's like a sheriff or deputy. Like in the old Earth Westerns.

[She eyes her for a moment before turning and picking a direction to go in. There's no possible way they could get any more lost than they already are. Right?]

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-24 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Miriam lets go of Barnaby's harness and follows after Irisa, the dog trotting at her side.] Oh? That's cool. I like those movies.

[A beat] What's Earth like? I mean, I heard stories, but everybody says there's just a lot of black ash.
tishinka: (ᘎ Or two or three or four or five)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-24 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a little less shooting involved, at least, as far as Irisa's concerned. She prefers her knives over guns.]

Nothing like that. After the Arks fell, and terraspheres on board terraformed the Earth, it changed a lot. Many plants and animals were mutated, becoming a cross between what they once were and what was carried on board the Arks.

The wildlife is dangerous, more likely to eat you than you it.

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-25 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[There are a lot of words there that Miriam doesn't recognize, though she knows very well that anything mutated spells bad news. She makes a face.] My mom says there was a wall on Earth so big you could see it from space. The Great Wall of China, I think? You ever see it?
tishinka: (ᘎ that it's fate)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-25 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
No. Maritime travel is expensive and dangerous and I'm not sure it even exists anymore.

[She pauses for a moment to glance around and decide where to go before continuing.]

Nolan's always had this dream of retiring to Antarctica, though. It's supposed to be a tropical paradise. [Why she's going on about this, she doesn't know. Maybe it's just to help the girl feel more comfortable. Maybe it just helps her understand how different Earth is.]

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-25 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
[That's weird. Maritime means by sea, right? Miriam frowns.] You can't just fly?

[Some of the planets still use maritime shipping, but not many. Though she's heard of places where the atmosphere is too dangerous to try that. Maybe Earth is like that? Except then what about the tomb robbers who fly over there and come back with all those stories?

Weird.]
Tropical's nice. I never been anywhere tropical, but they got pictures all up in the bars. Palm trees and what not.

[A pause.]

Who's Nolan?

[Yeah she's gonna bother you into the foreseeable future]
tishinka: (ᘎ every day)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-25 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Too much interference. [Maybe that had changed since she and Cai had used the terraspheres to destroy much of the Arkbelt, maybe not.]

Yeah. Nolan kept this postcard with a picture on it. It looked...peaceful.

[She glances over at Miriam.] My father.

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-25 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, right. [That Miriam can understand. Though she's fairly certain now that the Earth she's heard about and the one that Irisa's talking about are two different places. That, or every tomb robber she's ever met has been lying out their asses. Both possible, it must be said.] Peaceful's good. Not a lot of peaceful places these days.

[Not for longer than a week, at most. Miriam grins up at Irisa suddenly.] That's cool. My mom's Bethany.
tishinka: (ᘎ in my face)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-25 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Irisa grunts. She doesn't really have much else to say on either subject. She could mention he's not really her father. That he'd actually killed her parents and then later adopted her. But she's become a little more considerate.

It's probably best to change the subject.
] On your stations, are there just humans?

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-25 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Miriam would understand, Irisa! Probably a little too well. She shrugs at the question, flicking at Barnaby's ears as they walk.] Yeah? I guess. Sometimes we get plague ships, and they bring in weird stuff. Mutants, you know? Probably they were people one time, though.

[Even if they don't look it, at all.]
tishinka: (Default)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-25 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
We have those. Caused by the terraspheres and radiation. But no aliens?

[She finds it strange there's a place out there with no Votan or similar.]

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-25 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
No. [Miriam hesitates, glancing at the marks on Irisa's face.] Just people. Are you an alien?
tishinka: (ᘎ I said today is but a rumor)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-25 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
[The white marks are on her arms and legs as well. Although only her arms are bare.]

I was born on Earth, but yes, my people originated from another system.

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-25 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. [Miriam considers that for a moment, then shrugs.] That's cool. I thought you just had a buncha body-mods. [She draws a circle on her own forehead.] That's pretty.
tishinka: (ᘎ But the end's already here)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-25 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Irisa pulls a disgusted face. The only people that try to pretend to be Votan are wrong.]

If you think I'm neat looking you should see some of the other Votan. [Some are far more alien looking than her or the Castithans.]

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-25 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. Your galaxy must be huge. [Cultural insensitivity what? Miriam thinks having a bunch of neat looking people - aliens? - is just about the closest thing ever.] We've just got people. And, you know, stuff that used to be people.
tishinka: (ᘎ spit me out)

[personal profile] tishinka 2016-02-25 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
We are people, too. It's that kind of mentality that leads to wars.

[She's honestly sick of fighting, too.]

Given it took the Arks three thousand years to reach Earth from the Votanis System, yeah I guess it is.

[personal profile] dogsanddaughters 2016-02-25 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't mean it like that. [Probably not? Miriam isn't sure. She doesn't want to seem rude, though, not when Irisa could protect her and seems pretty cool besides. Things go much better when people like Miriam. And why wouldn't they? She strives to be likable. She clicks her teeth at the number.] Whoa. That's a long way. Some of the long haulers go out for years, but I never heard of going for a thousand years!
