Test Drive Meme #6

Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open February 23rd, and apps are open March 1st.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: BLOBBED
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something on the rooftops watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to separate you from your group and tear you into pieces. This time, the Door has brought in several Blobs, from the similarly titled 1988 movie, The Blob for you meet.

These gelatinous creatures have no weak spots or brains that can be sliced or crushed to kill them. Instead, their only goal is to absorb and dissolve its prey so that it can grow larger. Think that its, er, blob-like form makes it easy to avoid? Think again- it moves faster than one might expect, as shown in its canon 'kill' video here (with a healthy cw warning for gore and 80's movie effects).]

SCENARIO TWO: WENDIGONE
[Hey, that snack you found? It might taste a little too familiar. At least you don't have time to worry about accidental cannibalism too much though, because you've now become host to a vengeful wendigo spirit! The transformation will be sped up for the purposes of this test drive, though you can post at whichever point in the change you desire. Want to tear people to shreds? Go for it. Want to try to clutch onto the last few pieces of your humanity? Be our guest!

On the flipside, as someone who is unaffected, you may be trying to arm yourself and take these wendigos head-on... or, you may be trying to figure out a way you can save them, which would involve somehow trapping them on Hope's altar. Think you can handle that?

This is a mini version of our Who What Where Wendigo event this month!]

H O P E

SCENARIO THREE: CARNATION DAY
[You know those moments in high school that everyone used to dread? Where everyone would spend a week or so with the opportunity to buy a carnation or two for someone they like, only for carnation day to come along and dash any hopes and dreams you had of getting a flower from that special someone?

Well, here's your chance to relive that day- but, you know, hopefully make it end a little happier.

In this prompt, some characters will emerge through the Door- or wake up, or just suddenly appear- with carnations clutched in their hands. These flowers can be any color of your choosing, and all have tags on them. They can be addressed to you or to someone else, and in that FROM category? Well, from your secret admirer, of course- or any other character who may or may not have sent it! Here's to hoping they're a good one!]

[ She sounds casual, but she doesn’t look it. Gansey has a good eye for knowing when people aren’t being honest with him, and he can tell there’s something bothering Blue now. He feels her hands tightening even as she leans back, and as such, he doesn’t let go. He keeps hold of her waist, and tries to ignore the thrill in his veins at that fact.

That question, though. Gansey knows that he’s missing things. Adam, Ronan and Noah had all confirmed it. He’d been here before, and in another place, and he remembers neither of them. De Chima isn’t a name he recognizes, either from his own memories or from what his friends have said.

That can’t mean anything good.

There’s a tiny, careful shake of his head. He looks worried. ]

I don’t. My memory hasn’t been what it should be of late.

What’s De Chima, Jane? When were we there?

[ Gansey doesn't just have a good eye for people, he has a good eye for her. He always has. That doesn't seem to stop her from trying to let distance back into her voice. Something she's not done with Gansey for a long time. But lately, they've pushed the rules into an almost nonexistent state. And now they're back into effect. She's not even sure she remembers how to abide by them anymore.

She takes a step back now, releasing him. She wonders how strange that must be to him? To have her hold him so casually for so long?

Especially when he tells her has no memories of that other Earth. ]

You, Ronan, Adam, and me. We've all been there for five months now. I was there just until I was here. [ She shakes her head. ] No one but me remembers... [ No one remembers everything they went through together. Everything they survived. ]

It's another Earth, but the Cold War never ended. That's where we were. We lived in De Chima, Virginia because there was no Henrietta. That was the closest we could get.

[ Gansey lets her go. He’s confused, both by her rapid retreat and by the way she’d clung to him in the first place. He finds he would have been quite all right with holding her for longer, though, and he’s sorry that she’s gone.

His expression is awkward, but curious, too. ]

Five months. And no Noah?

[ That’s strange. Gansey runs his thumb over his lip, turning it through his head. ]

The three of them told me they’d been here for four, and in another place for some time before that. They say I was with them, and then disappeared, and came back with no memories. It wasn’t like that, though, it wasn’t quite so much like Earth. The Cold War, Jesus.

I wonder how this can be happening. You all have memories of other worlds.

[ A little smile flickers at her. ]

I’ve been here a month and before that I was at home. I just assumed I’d lost memories. Maybe something else is going on.

[ Adam and Ronan couldn’t have been in two places at once. If there are alternate worlds, could there be alternate versions of them?

If so, how does Gansey know the versions here are his versions? There’s a thought he never wanted to have. ]

[ What kind of stupid thought is it to have that they were in two worlds without her for so long? She was in one with them for so long after all. Why isn't that enough? Why is she jealous that they've been here so long with no mention of a her that even forgot? She doesn't even get to forget. She just doesn't know. Why didn't they pick her?

This was stupid. there were actually pressing matters at hand. ]

On the other Earth it wasn't uncommon. People forgot things, people weren't from the same time. It was like the porter played with that sort of thing. I don't know how it picked, it just did. [ She shakes her head, arms crossed and looking at her feet while she thinks.

She only just remembers it's not her Gansey and looks up with a frown. ]
The Porter I guess... picked us? The government always knew we were coming. They had files on us when we arrived. It was weird.

What's this place like?

They had files on you.

[ That was disconcerting. Actually, no; that was alarming, and he didn’t like it. It was too strange to think of her in that world, and stranger still to think of another version of himself, Ronan and Adam, still there and now missing her.

Gansey couldn’t really connect himself to that. He was too busy orienting himself around the fact that Blue was here now, with him. But of course, his mind was active and working, always fussing over these new clues. That, of course, was how they saw him. ]

Jesus. So a Porter there and a Door here, and a ley line in the world the three of them were in before.

I can’t believe it’s not connected.

This place is…

[ Well. Gansey sighed, and his shoulders dropped. ]

It’s dangerous, Jane. There’s monsters, demons. And gods, who seem able to influence our lives, but not enough to control who’s brought, or to send us home. So they claim, anyway. They say they’re not in control of the Door, though they are the ones who turned it on. There’s three of them so far. Hope, Rage, and Fear. From what I’ve seen and heard, they live up to their names.
