The IC Critque Meme!

Have you ever wanted to tell your fellow
WELL THEN--
THE LOWDOWN
• Post a header with your character's name.
• Comment in-character to other people's headers. With what? Depends on your CR! Maybe they're a good person and really should keep on keeping on, maybe literally everyone can see they need to suck it up and confess already, maybe they'll change their wicked ways if just one extra person casts aspersions on their pompadour. Bring in examples if you want, as with any helpful critique. Be as creative as you like!
• Other characters will comment to yours, no doubt overflowing with well-meaning advice on how to be the best person they can be. Your character is free to respond. Excuse you, maybe despair is still in fashion??
• Feel free to assume there's a compulsion to speak their minds, if your character's not usually the type to give unsolicited advice.
• A probably unnecessary reminder, but just remember, this is not a place for OOC crit! There are other, more appropriate channels for that.

[Or what they may be, in a certain fugitive's case.]

[And not just about their little metal friend; Lance really appreciates that Nick has been willing to listen to him, even when it might be about something he might prefer not to believe.]

[Lance gets a ridiculously fond smile.]
And you do a pretty good job of making people think you're not as clever at manipulation as you are.

[But despite the joke, he's really genuinely pleased by this; it means a lot to him when anyone considers him a friend, let alone like family, and he returns the smile.
As for that last comment though, wow, way to call him out.]
I'm going to try taking that as a compliment.

Besides, it's practically a requirement for a music snob to consider others' taste in music tolerable at best, so I can handle it.
[One music snob to another.]

[Shocker, this is his criticism]

[It isn't defensive, just a statement; at least he isn't denying it this time?]

Forgiveness and trust come from different places, and have different motivations behind them, so it isn't quite as contradictory as it may seem.
[No comment on whether this is something he should change or not, though.]

[He is not going to be the one to force Lance to admit to anything, so the lack of confirmation is fine.]

[Unless it's really warranted, then he'll so hold a grudge; he'd be that guy fifty years later bitching about how his college roommate never returned his CD.]
It's more that... Refusing to forgive usually causes more harm to the person who was wronged; holding onto anger, and hurt, and everything else eats away at you, not the person you won't forgive. Being careful about trusting just helps avoid those situations in the first place.

I like to think I'm usually both, and it's pretty obvious when I'm just being polite, but I may overestimate how easy it is to tell. And thank you.
[He feels like he's very very clearly cold and distant when he's solely being professionally polite, but he is aware it might not be as simple for other people to discern the difference.]
