Test Drive Meme #32
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open May 25th, and apps are open June 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

SCENARIO ONE: HONK HONK
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
Hope you're not afraid of clowns!
Evil Clowns have been a terror on the imagination of children everywhere, and show up enough times in literature for us to reasonably say that plenty of adults are afraid of them too. While they love to laugh, they often bring themselves joy by murdering others and slicing them up with the sharp knives and other torture devices that they have tucked away in their seventeen pockets.
It's not difficult to outrun them, as they have big, squeaky shoes, but it might be difficult to fight them- these bastards are hardy!]

SCENARIO TWO: MISSING SOMETHING?
[You may arrive in Hadriel... well, incomplete. Though some may reassure you that it's temporary, there's still something terrifying in suddenly losing your sight or your hearing... or even you arm!
While this event does not affect memories, it does affect body parts, senses, and potentially powers and abilities. You may find yourself unable to do things you once did, or behave the way you normally do.
This is a mini version of our Senses Fail event this month.]

SCENARIO THREE: MAY FLOWERS
[You're in a beautiful garden. The sun is shining, the grass is green, and there are hundreds of thousands of flowers all around you. The temperature is just perfect, and above all else, it's satisfying.
Maybe you should pick some flowers for a friend, or your mother- you did skip mother's day, after all. Luckily, there's a few cutting shears to go around and you're more than welcome to start hacking away at these thistley bushes! Hopefully you know a thing or two about flower arranging- maybe that person over there is more experienced?]

Hey - it's OK, Jon. It's me.
[Jason steps in front of the body, quickly wipes the blood from his knife on the side of his jeans, and shoves the into the back of his belt where it belongs. He then takes a cautious step toward Jon, eyes alert for any signs of danger in the area, and makes a futile attempt at rubbing the blood off his hands using his jeans. Good thing they're dark-colored, because that blood probably isn't gonna come out any time soon.]
You OK?

jon's strong, stronger than most kids. able to handle things no one else would be able to survive through, but he can't--why would jason just--
a cautious step backwards, away from jason as he moves to approach, and jon's definitely not moving his palm away from his mouth. he still speaks arond it, tone muffled out by his hand. )
I--. . you--

I had to, Jon.
[They both probably know that's a lie. Jason knows dozens of nonlethal ways to disarm an opponent, but what's true is that killing is easier for him. Death is final (usually, present company excluded); it leaves no room for compromise, no space for second chances that end in yet more people being hurt.
Even so ... Jon didn't need to see that. He's just a kid, and kids don't deserve to deal with the awful, messy truth of how brutal death is. Jason didn't have much in the way of a childhood of his own - he saw and experienced more than his fair share of terrible things by the time he was Jon's age or a little older, but even he knows that wasn't normal - wasn't how it should be.
Jason's never felt more like a monster than he does at this particular moment, with Jon looking at him in horror.]

takes after him him in ways that more than influences how he decides to respond to this, too. it takes him a moment before his hand drops away, lips pressed tight together and shoulders shaking as if he's two seconds away from bursting into tears (he is ) and sobbing against the ground (also true)> but he doesn't. he shakes his head instead, balls his hands into fists. )
You never have to kill! There's always another way!! I was coming, I--I would've saved you! Why would you just. . why would you kill someone like that?! Even if they're bad, nobody deserves to die!

You can’t save everyone, Jon. That’s not how the world works - I wish it did, believe me. Sometimes people have to save themselves, and they have to do it however they can.
[He holds his main point, that some people are beyond saving. Some people are scum and gave up their claim at being considered people. Some people don’t deserve a second chance.]
Look, [he says, taking his eyes off Jon to scan the area,] you should get out of here. Find someplace safe. Something tells me there’s probably more where this one came from.
[Bad guys usually don’t run solo. They’ve got gangs, henchmen - intimidation in numbers. Jason can handle taking out more clowns, if he needs to, but if Jon’s already upset about the one dead clown, he won’t like what comes next.]
