Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open August 25th, and apps are open September 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: GET YOUR RED CAPE READY
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

And they sure are big boys. Big and easily angered and ready to run right over you. This time, the Door has brought in Brontos, from the video game Dragon Age.

Brontos are large oxen-like beasts, though more sure-footed due to spending all their time in caves underground. There are domesticated brontos, bred to haul and be ridden and eaten... but these aren't those. These brontos are wild, one and all, and they are skittish and large and perfectly capable of running you over. Maybe just keep your distance.]

SCENARIO TWO: DESERTED
[You're alone. Completely alone, as far as you can tell. Nothing here works - oh, there's food in the stores, sure, but the water's not running, the electricity isn't working. There's not a soul on the streets, where you would normally expect to see at least a few people here and there.

So what will you do? Smash windows and grab food from the stores? (Well, the doors are all unlocked, but hey, who doesn't love smashing windows.) Shout in the streets in hopes someone will hear? Curl into a ball and cry? All valid choices. But then, what will you do when you do find someone, after thinking you were all alone? Someone you like, someone you hate, a complete stranger?

This is a mini version of our Deserted event this month.]

S O R R O W

SCENARIO THREE: ONE MORE CHANCE
[You can't stop thinking about the one who got away. They've been on your mind - well, it feels like forever, but maybe it's only been a few days. A few hours. But you can't stop thinking about them and regretting what could have been.

Maybe it's a failed romance. Maybe a broken friendship. Maybe a family member who walked away - or who you walked away from. Even a business partner who things ended poorly with. Whatever it was, you regret how things went down. If only you had another chance, a chance to fix things!

And then, there they are. The person you've been thinking of. What will you do? Beg forgiveness? Make amends? Run away? Make your decision and take action, because as soon as you do it you might realize it was never that person at all. You might have just poured out your heart and begged forgiveness from a complete stranger.]

[ Kettara growls, lifting an axe in warning. And then she just...stares.

That's quite possibly the strangest looking human(?) she's ever seen. ]

What is this place?

[Strange looking yes, but at least he's friendly?]

Okay, uhh, one second.

[It might be easier to chat if he's not like, half way up a wall. He takes a moment to hop over from where he's all sticking and stuff and lands a few feet from her, keeping an eye on those turbo rhinos while he talks.]

Okay, short version: You're on some island in a weirdo dimension, a magic "door" thing brought you here and dumped you in this arena with all these monster things. Why? Don't know, apparently it's totally random who gets brought here. How do you leave? Supposedly through the door, but people are currently in the process of looking for it, so I don't think anybody knows for sure.

Sorry, I guess that's not really helpful, is it?

[ He moves like a druid in cat form, quick and fluid. Kettara holds into her weapons, just in case, teeth bared. He smells human, more or less, and she's never met a human worthy of trust. Master Muln says the humans are like the rest of Azeroth and it does nothing to judge them as a whole, when the individual pieces haven't been given a chance to speak for themselves. Kettara finds it hard to believe that, most of the time. But she's met honorable and strong warriors among the goblins, cruel orcs even under the Horde's banner, and the Grimtotem - oh, she remembers them.

A piece is not the whole.

She lowers her weapons. Marginally. ]

A different...dimension? What is it called?

Uhhh. That I don't know. I just know that this is a different universe than the one I came from. Someone told me once that the city we're in is called Hadriel, and someone else said that it teleports to different places sometimes? So... I actually had no idea what to do with that information when I first heard it, so I don't know how helpful it is for you. Uh, s-sorry.

[He really does wish he had more useful information to share, but he's still pretty new himself. He's not even sure if the stuff he has heard so far is accurate, but it's about all he has to go on.]

[ A city that opens portals into different realms? Kettara scrunches up her face, considering that. She knows vaguely of the floating city of Dalaran, where mages rule, and supposedly that place can move if its masters wish. But she doesn't know of any magic strong enough to pull people from one place into another against their will. Surely there would have been a feeling, a change in the air she could have recognized.

Unless this is a new magic entirely. Master Shotoa was right about one thing: the world is changing and they must adapt. ]

What is your name, human?

[If it makes her feel any better, this whole place was full of people who needed to adapt to some seriously screwed up shenanigans. At least she's not alone in it, right?]

Me? I'm Spider-Man. Nice to meet you! Sorry it's, y'know, in a place like this with all the weird stuff.

Spider-Man.

[ Kettara nods gravely. No doubt he earned the name through some feat of strength or cleverness. ]

I am Kettara, of the Earthen Ring.

[Or he's a dorky teenager that thought it sounded cool, but we'll just go with what she thinks, because it makes him sound way cooler than he actually is.]

Now that's a cool name. Earthen Ring, is that the world you're from?

[What's even cooler than her name is how polite the rhino monsters are being while they chat tbh]

[ Bliiiink. ]

Oh? It is an unusual name, in your world?

[ She didn't even share the name she took from her mother, Bloodthirst. That's the one that gets her pause, more often then not. The Frostwolf orcs, especially. Oh, they remember. It's not a name that she earned for herself, but it was given to her from her mother, a remembrance of the past, and thus not easily discarded.

She isn't ashamed, precisely. There are just some things that ought to be kept private, for now. ]

The Earthen Ring is a collective of shaman, dedicated to maintaining balance between the elements. My world is called Azeroth.

I wouldn't say it's unusual, I've just never heard it before.

[Now Bloodthirst, that's literally the coolest name ever. But its all good, if anyone understands wanting to keep names private, it's Spiderbuddy.]

Ohh, I gotcha! We don't have anything like that where I'm from.

Then who keeps the elements in balance?

[ It's asked with genuine curiosity. ]

Or do you....not have elemental spirits at all?

[ Kettara hopes that's not the case. It would be an awfully sad world if the elements didn't speak at all. ]

Nobody? I guess the elements just kinda keep themselves in balance.

Now wait, when you say elements, do you mean the whole earth, fire, water, air thing, or are you talking about the entire periodic table? Because that's kind of a lot of elements.

[It's about to get all science up in here, sorry Kettara.]

[ An intriguing concept. The elements have always been at war in Azeroth, and Kettara knows it was much the same in Draenor during her mother's time. She takes a curious step forward. ]

What is this "periodic table"? I do not know it.

[ And, occasionally to the chagrin of her instructors, Kettara wants to know everything. ]

There are four major elements, in Azeroth. Earth, fire, water, and air. There is also the Spirit of Life, but that is--complicated. It hasn't spoken to me yet. My teacher says it will one day, when I am ready.

Oh! Well, um, the periodic table is an arrangement of all the chemical elements in order based on their atomic number, electron configuration, and recurring chemical properties. There's actually a lot to it.

[You know what, Peter likes talking about all this nerdy science shit anyway so it all works out.]

So your elements have like, spirits and stuff? What do they do? I mean, aside from keep the elements in order and talk to you and stuff?

[ She only recognizes the last part, the recurring chemical properties. Some of the goblin shaman talk about that, trying to quantify everything. Explain the how and the why in simple terms instead of just feeling. The elders don't always approve, but Kettara always thought they had a point. Aren't they meant to understand the elements? That means they should understand everything. ]

I don't know these things. You will have to explain them to me sometime.

[ Perhaps in a different situation, where they're not under threat of attack. The not-kodo haven't moved to attack them, but Kettara is keeping an eye on the herd just in case. She's not a fool. ]

Of course. They have feuds and friendships, they want things just like we do. They -- live, and tend to their affairs. A shaman mediates between them, and in exchange, they grant us aid when we ask.

[ She hesitates. ]

Most of the time.

Sure thing! I'm sure we'll have tons of time for that after you get all settled in and stuff.

[Meanwhile Spidey's turned pretty much all of his attention to his new buddy here. It's all good, if these critters get all rowdy it'll ping his spider-senses and junk.]

What kind of aid? I'm kind of having a weird time picturing it. Like, if you need some fire or something, is the fire one just like "Poof, have some fire"?

[ Kettara flashes him a grin. It's not so bad, now. This place is strange and it smells funny, but she's been in worse. She can think of it like another test. It will make her stronger and wiser when it's done, and she'll be a better shaman for it. And think of all the stories she'll have for Master Muln! ]

Well...

[ She tips her head to the side, then holds out her hands and exhales into them.

Flames lick against her fingers.

Kettara grins. ]

Like this.

[He was about to say something nerdy about all the science junk he's gonna show her or something, but uuuuh nooOOPE this is about a million times cooler. LIKE. A MILLION TIMES COOLER.]

Oh my God! Really!? Is that for real!? That is amazing!

[Sorry about his volume, this is a thing now.]

[ There's something infectious about his enthusiasm. Kettara grins even wider. ]

I know, right? We're not supposed to show off, but I think they like it sometimes. Fire especially.

["Enthusiasm" is this kid's middle name. Spider-Enthusiasm-Man. It's not a very good name.]

Oh, totally, I can see that. Fire's all flashy and in your face like 'BAM, I'm fire'! Like if fire where I'm from was a living element spirit person, I can totally see it wanting to show off.

[ Kettara giggles a little. It's been a long time since she's giggled. ]

My friend, Zur’ak, he loves fire. It must love him back. They're always showing off.

[It's said fondly. She wishes Zur’ak was here. ]

[He's just grinning like this biggest dork under his mask. This is basically the coolest stuff he's ever heard]

See, now I'm just picturing a guy juggling fireballs. Please tell me this guy juggles fireballs.
