test drive meme # 35
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open August 25th, and apps are open September 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: GET YOUR RED CAPE READY
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
And they sure are big boys. Big and easily angered and ready to run right over you. This time, the Door has brought in Brontos, from the video game Dragon Age.
Brontos are large oxen-like beasts, though more sure-footed due to spending all their time in caves underground. There are domesticated brontos, bred to haul and be ridden and eaten... but these aren't those. These brontos are wild, one and all, and they are skittish and large and perfectly capable of running you over. Maybe just keep your distance.]
SCENARIO TWO: DESERTED
[You're alone. Completely alone, as far as you can tell. Nothing here works - oh, there's food in the stores, sure, but the water's not running, the electricity isn't working. There's not a soul on the streets, where you would normally expect to see at least a few people here and there.
So what will you do? Smash windows and grab food from the stores? (Well, the doors are all unlocked, but hey, who doesn't love smashing windows.) Shout in the streets in hopes someone will hear? Curl into a ball and cry? All valid choices. But then, what will you do when you do find someone, after thinking you were all alone? Someone you like, someone you hate, a complete stranger?
This is a mini version of our Deserted event this month.]
S O R R O W
SCENARIO THREE: ONE MORE CHANCE
[You can't stop thinking about the one who got away. They've been on your mind - well, it feels like forever, but maybe it's only been a few days. A few hours. But you can't stop thinking about them and regretting what could have been.
Maybe it's a failed romance. Maybe a broken friendship. Maybe a family member who walked away - or who you walked away from. Even a business partner who things ended poorly with. Whatever it was, you regret how things went down. If only you had another chance, a chance to fix things!
And then, there they are. The person you've been thinking of. What will you do? Beg forgiveness? Make amends? Run away? Make your decision and take action, because as soon as you do it you might realize it was never that person at all. You might have just poured out your heart and begged forgiveness from a complete stranger.]
Oh no Daryl and kids. His weakness.
[Even if all of that was what seems another lifetime ago, years ago now, out of all the losses she has suffered and everyone she mourned, Lee was the one that hurt the most. That had hit her the hardest. The blood and sweat and dirt he's covered in doesn't phase her in the least. Probably because that's her normal too, at this point. Years after everything had changed, since the outbreak.
Clementine is confused, maybe even frustrated and upset as her voice rises unintentionally with her outburst, with his denial at being Lee. Aside from perhaps AJ or Kenny, Lee was likely the only one that could get her to react so emotionally. To feel comfortable enough to open herself up enough like this.]
And you ask that like I ever really know where I am or where I'm going at this point.
[Even back home. Even when they had a destination in mind, even if somewhere seemed safe for a while, something always happened to get her back on the road again. Keep moving. Keep finding supplies. Food. This wasn't much if any different.
Well. It was now? If Lee were here.....sure it might not make things magically safe and okay, but it'd feel like it. If she had someone to depend on like that again. As childish as that might make her feel to admit. Even if she herself was still a child, really.]
He is so predictable
[ Even though he's confused and worried for this kid, he keeps his voice low and somewhat relaxed, trying not to disturb her any more than she already is. But he has to bring her back to reality. He's just learned himself how dangerous it is to linger in fantasy or indulge in listening to hallucinations, but it seems like this kid has seen what he's seen - walkers - at least from what she's just admitted to. That feels bizarrely grounding in this strange place. ]
You did him a favour then, kid, whoever he was. He would've wanted you to.
[ He's crouching in front of her now in his familiar hunter's position, almost comfortable except for his wounds. But what she says next actually makes him snort out a half-laugh and start to grin. ]
Fair 'nuff. You ain't nobody's fool, huh?
[ But that doesn't change how dangerous it could still be out here for a kid all alone, and Daryl is willing to admit that almost any company would be better than wandering these empty streets on his own. ]
Don't really know where I'm goin', neither. Maybe I could stick with you, an' you could give me a hand?
[ He still doesn't know why she's calling him Lee, but maybe he looks like the guy she'd shot. He could be doing worse things with his time than helping a lost kid, though. ]
In this case that is clearly a good thing.
[Even if it was difficult. The most difficult thing she'd done, that first time she'd had to do it. To pull the trigger on someone. Still, part of her should recognize the grin, the laugh as not being the same as she remembered. Then again. Lee. That was so long ago now. When it had all started.
Still. Clementine glances up a little more, so her cap beak isn't entirely hiding her face as she gives a nod. Going with him was better than going it alone. Lee or -- whoever this was if they were saying they weren't him. She's usually more cautious of strangers but still. That she was seeing Lee, and Daryl's calm and reassuring demeanor with her in general, it helps.]
Usually a good thing for everyone but Daryl :C
Good. You never should. You'll just end up havin' to put 'em down later, when it's harder. An' I'm Daryl. [ He clarifies it gently, making it clear he's not annoyed or mad, and doesn't do anything foolish like reach to shake her hand. Daryl would never have done so, anyway. ] But I guess you can keep callin' me Lee if you want.
[ He stands slowly, blood loss making his head spin a little, and nods down at her. ] An' what should I call you? Besides someone that needs a meal put in 'em. [ But he hasn't seen anything to hunt around here, so scavenging is their next best bet. At least he's gotten pretty good at doing that lately, too. ]
Pretty much.
[It's then that she seems to become aware that this decidedly isn't Lee. Clementine clumsily wipes at her face, looking sheepish as she lowers her gaze for a moment in the process. That. Was confusing. And maybe a little embarrassing. But the guy seemed to be rolling with it and okay with her little outburst. Which was....well, something. More than others might have put up with.]
Ah, I'm Clementine. Sorry....I'm not sure....why I thought you were Lee.
[Daryl looked nothing like Lee. Though both of them were supportive and reassuring. At least as far as she figures from just having met Daryl so far.]
