test drive meme # 36
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and apps are open October 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: GET YOUR RED CAPE READY
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
You don't want to ride them- someone already tried that. Near you is a horselike beast, one without any fur or skin or anything that might make it more palatable. It's a Nuckelavee, a Nordic mythological creature which terrorizes the Northern Isles.
This demonic creature seems to embody that of a man merged with a horse- but not in the cute centaurian way. They are natural swimmers and emerge from the deep to drag their prey down into the water with them- so terrible that even the scent of their breath can sap you of all will to live. Better hold your own breath and look out!]
L O V E
SCENARIO TWO: GET YOU SOME
[You don't know where you are or where you're going- or what you're even doing in this strange city on the ocean- but you do know that you need someone by your side to make it better. Even if you don't know them, even if you hate them, there's something comforting to having another person so close to you.
Closer.
Physical contact with another person seems to put your mind completely at ease, erasing all of your worries and doing better for your mind than a hundred meditation sessions. So it's time to get friendly, even if you're not really that friendly of a person in the first place.
This is a mini version of our A Little Touchy Feely event this month.]
SCENARIO THREE: 15 MINUTES LATE WITH
[Good news! Love has decided that since other liquids seem to be all the rage amongst you humans and they somehow learned about Earth agricultural crops, they've decided to open up a coffee shop!
Here's the space to live out all of your coffee shop AUs in a Hadriel setting! With a storm brewing over the island and a merry pink glowcloud somehow creating caffeinated drinks on the spot when you order them, get ready to tuck in and get nice and cozy for a few minutes.
But uh-oh! Your name is misspelled! Or it's someone else's name entirely, but it's your drink. Or something about your order is wrong- whatever the case, Confusion definitely wouldn't just stand around and let Love have their fun. Somehow, everything is wrong in this poor coffeeshop... what are you going to do about it?]
Dylan Andrews | Red Vs Blue
[Dylan's a war reporter. She's seen some pretty terrible things. She's also spent a significant amount of time with the Reds and Blues, which means she's also seen some pretty weird things.
And yet, going down her mental checklist, she's hard pressed to come up with something that beats this in both weird and terrible. She backs up, raising her gun.
At least her helmet filters out the smell.]
Scenario 3
[As a journalist, Dylan's a big fan of caffeine. And... this is her drink.
At least, she's pretty sure. It looks like her drink.
She holds it up eye level and squints.]
Jill N?
one!!!
Knife is is. Wash grips it in his fist and launches himself forward, straight onto the creature's back, driving the blade straight into its skull. It goes down with Wash still on top of it, and he stands and yanks the knife free with a splatter of blood.
It's all very impressive and dramatic. But then he notices that the newcomer that was obscured by the monster is in full armor. Huh. He doesn't recognize it... ]
Uh. Hi.
no subject
Wash?
no subject
If she'd said "Agent Washington", Wash would have assumed she knew him from the news. But "Wash" is reserved for friends and he's been here for nearly a year now. He knows the drill, how people get pulled in from all points in time, so it's entirely possible that he's going to meet this woman in his future when he returns home. To the life that Carolina talked about, or even later than that. But he doesn't recognize her armor or her voice, so... honestly, he's just going to consider himself lucky that she's not trying to kill him. That's what strangers who know who he is tend to do. Hopefully the way she shortens his name means they are, in fact, friends. ]
Yes. I'm here to help, but explanations need to wait a minute.
[ He points behind her with the bloody knife, where another nuckelavee is charging them. She might want to step aside, or shoot. ]
no subject
[Well, yeah, that will apparently have to wait a minute. She fires a few shots, then dives out of the way. She's a hell of a journalist, but she knows that when it comes to rampaging monsters, it's better for her to let the experts work.]
What are these things?
no subject
[ He's got this. Ammo is sacred, stranger. Door monsters tend to be bullet sponges anyway, unless they have a visible weak spot. Wash manages to fool this one with a rush and crafty dodge, then he's on its back too, driving his blade into its head. They're not terribly clever, are they? Then again if it wasn't for the air filtration system in his helmet, the fighting would likely go differently.
The Guard has shown up now, though, which gives them some breathing room. When the next creature charges, its attention is drawn by an arrow shot from across the colosseum and it turns to attack the archer instead.
Under normal circumstances Wash would just keep killing the things, both to ensure the safety of the island and to claim the corpses for himself for Rage. But right now there's a newcomer who recognizes him and seems rather out of her element in all this despite her armor. So he prioritizes, and moves to hustle her out and away from the fighting. ]
You're alright..? [ Bioscan looks okay, but it's polite to ask. The less question is a bit less polite even though there's no other way to approach it. ] Who are you?
no subject
[She frowns, taking a moment to look over at him. That's really not good. Especially when the last time she saw him, he was seriously injured.
Was there brain damage? What else has he forgotten.]
Dylan Andrews. Interstellar Daily.
no subject
[ It could be a con, after all. The sort of thing Felix might do in this kind of situation... use the familiar name because he knows it, knows he could play it like that to fool them.
He doesn't mean to assume the worst of her, but paranoia has served him well. ]
...you're a reporter?
no subject
[She sighs and touches her forehead.]
Sorry, that was... sorry. It's been a weird day. Yes, I'm a reporter.
3
[She's holding up her own cup which sports a cursive and flowery name. Car Line. It's not even a name! A point that she had argued with the barista for quite some time before getting fed up.
Yet as her cup lowers, she cocks her helmet at Dylan. She does miss some individuals arriving. Alpha, for example. Tucker hadn't thought to share that information with them, although she hadn't had much interaction with him before he had left as well.]
You just arrive?
no subject
[Dylan looks at it, sounding way too amused. That's certainly something.]
Yes. Still... figuring out what's going on. [The caffeine will help.] What about you?
no subject
Still, she is going to be drinking it, and it is caffeine. Sweet, lovely, caffeine.]
Hm. Over half a year now, actually.
