Word Association is a common word game involving an exchange of words that are associated together. What my people eat on Christmas eve! It's delicious. Have you never heard of it?

No. What is it?

It's fish with greens, potatoes, and eggs. Every family makes it differently, but religious fasts used to be had and fish is easy on the gut. So we'd have that after midnight mass. [A cheeky smile follows.] I'm terrible about sticking to the fasting part, but I'm still fond of the dish.

Oh, that sounds good. [She would hope for more potatoes and eggs than greens, but that's her.]

Did you go to midnight mass even if you didn't fast?

It is. I like the fish and potatoes best, but it's nice to have something light when you know Christmas dinner will be excessive.

[And as part of a wealthy family, it's always excessive.]

I do. It's tradition. And if I tried to get out of it, my niece would knock me out like a caveman and drag me to church by my hair. Better to go willingly for family and holiday ritual than by force.

She's two handfuls. But she's wonderful, I wouldn't have her any other way.

She's not your kid, of course, you wouldn't. [Jo laughs. When you can just hand the kid off at the end of the night, everything is easier.]

I live with her part of the year, so I can't always just hand her off. [Tyki grins, it's fun to chat about the pleasant part of his family life.] She's more likely to hand me off, not the other way around.

It's her house, the rest of us just live in it.
