Test Drive Meme # 1

Welcome to Hadriel's very first test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and Apps are open October 1st.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: ANYONE GOT A LIGHT?
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something on the rooftops watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to separate you from your group and tear you into pieces. In this instance, the door has managed to grab something truly horrific, and it's definitely out for blood (and brains) tonight.

Smokers are enemies in the video game series Left 4 Dead, who use their prehensile tongues to capture unwitting people and either drag them away for consumption or hang them up to strangle them. With all of the activity of characters trying to find out what's going on and where they are, there are more than a few of them, lingering in the shadows and waiting to try strike at anyone who may be lagging behind.]

SCENARIO TWO: YOUR HEART WILL GO ON
[You awaken in a windowless room, the walls strangely curved. The door, when you try it, is quite firmly locked. No amount of force is able to break through, so it seems to be sealed by supernatural means. Next to the door stands a slender pedestal, about as big around as a large man's thigh. At the top of the pedestal is a indentation, as if something were meant to go there.

But you're not alone in this room. There are two things with you: a person and a corpse. Pinned to the body is a note: Place a heart on the pedestal to leave. Tucked neatly into the corpse's pocket is a letter opener, small and not particularly sharp.

Did you have weapons or tools on you before? You don't now. But look at it this way: what better form of bonding is there than helping a friend or stranger dig a heart out of a corpse with nothing but a letter opener and your bare hands?]

H O P E

SCENARIO THREE: HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BREAK-IN TODAY?
[You're standing outside a storefront, colored glass set into intricate designs. It's beautiful, artistic, but more importantly - there's definitely food inside. Good food, too, by the glimpses you can see through the window. In fact - wait a minute - isn't that your favorite dish in there, just waiting for you? You've been searching for food for hours, it seems, and the city is bare. Your tummy is getting awful rumbly. What luck!

You try the door. Cruelly, it is locked. The food taunts you, just out of reach.

The glass is lovely, intricate, but it's just glass. Or maybe you know how to pick locks. Or maybe there's a back way in. Or maybe some passing friend will be able to help you. There's a lot of options here, if what you really want is a mouthful of the finest... whatever it is you like.]

You did most of the work.

[Noah is trying to be polite and all, but passing off the need for food doesn't really work when your stomach chooses that moment to growl as loudly as possible.

Once upon a time he didn't have to eat, having a body does come with it's drawbacks.]

... But if you're sure ...

[He puts his flashlight away and tries to not look too embarrassed.]

( Hook actually understands the once upon a time he didn't have to eat thing. in Neverland, it was never a problem. not so much since he's left it, though all of his internal alarms seem skewed for the centuries he spent there. )

Not sure what sort of appetites you're used to, but even a ravished pirate couldn't consume a whole store.

( he'll take enough for himself and a bit more than that, yeah, but he's not going to lay claim to it just for a picked lock. it doesn't belong to him any more than it belongs to Noah. )

I'm sure.

[Noah has to laugh a little, because hey, who knows, maybe Hook has like eight stomachs or a bunch of pets to feed or something. It's not polite to judge people by appearances.

Noah nudges the door open to make his way in, a bit tense because what if something is in there??? (Nothing is but he's a coward) although not as worried as he could be because he has someone here to hide behind if that happens.

Thinking about Hook's words, the rest of what he said settles in just as Noah is looking around.]

- You're a pirate? Like for real? [That is... so cool!!!]

( right, he forgets that piracy is not exactly a common occupation in modern times! you'd think he'd learn after the hotel, but it still feels very normal for him. he is a pirate, and he's surprisingly proud of that fact still, despite the fact he's trying to be a little less villainous these days. )

Is there a way to be a pirate artificially? ( meaning, yes, really. considering he can pick a lock and is utterly nonchalant about stealing, it can't be that much of a surprise. the store seems to be a bakery, and while the pirate isn't intensely fond of sweet things, he does pluck up a sweet roll he saw from the window. too good to walk away from, apparently. )

I wonder who left this here. ( it's all too fresh, somebody must have made this recently... it makes him frown, because all of a sudden, he's not sure he trusts it. )

[The question regarding artificial piracy is rhetorical but it still has Noah wondering...

Noah IS fond of sweet things, so as soon as he sees fresh baked cream horns he is all over that and eating and talking at the same time. Well, he's polite enough to keep his talking between bites. He should bring some of this back to the others.]

Whoever brought us here maybe? It'd be silly to drag us here then starve us. At least that's how the last freaky place I was worked.

You'd be surprised what these lots get up to.

( he's been shuttled to an odd, creepy little hotel, and given only one barely square meal a day for months. and on top of that, the breakfast had stopped coming for nearly a month, suffice to say it's entirely possible to end up trapped and starved, even if he doesn't have any clue why his captors had gotten a kick out of such a thing.

fact is he doesn't know who is responsible for his landing here, either... which makes him a little suspicious. )

Just be ... ( he pauses to see his company is already eating. well... nevermind then. ) Careful.

[Noah's kind of like a toddler, did he find something potentially delicious? That is going straight into his mouth.]

I'm careful.

[He says right before shoving the rest of it in his mouth, chewing, swallowing, then grabbing his half-full water-bottle.]

Gotta make sure it's safe for my friends before I bring some back for them. Tell me if I start turning green or something, okay?

Usually that's jealousy that does that.

( just gonna drop that casually into conversation and not make a big deal of it at all, but seriously, he's met an entirely green witch before, and it wasn't from tainted food. )

Start with one and see how it treats you, yeah? They never spiked the food before but I wouldn't put it past them.

( he still talks like he has a vague idea of who is responsible, though... a real strong emphasis on vague. he thinks this must be a new trick of the hotel, though to what end he's not sure. )
