Test Drive Meme # 1
Welcome to Hadriel's very first test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and Apps are open October 1st.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: ANYONE GOT A LIGHT?
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something on the rooftops watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to separate you from your group and tear you into pieces. In this instance, the door has managed to grab something truly horrific, and it's definitely out for blood (and brains) tonight.
Smokers are enemies in the video game series Left 4 Dead, who use their prehensile tongues to capture unwitting people and either drag them away for consumption or hang them up to strangle them. With all of the activity of characters trying to find out what's going on and where they are, there are more than a few of them, lingering in the shadows and waiting to try strike at anyone who may be lagging behind.]
SCENARIO TWO: YOUR HEART WILL GO ON
[You awaken in a windowless room, the walls strangely curved. The door, when you try it, is quite firmly locked. No amount of force is able to break through, so it seems to be sealed by supernatural means. Next to the door stands a slender pedestal, about as big around as a large man's thigh. At the top of the pedestal is a indentation, as if something were meant to go there.
But you're not alone in this room. There are two things with you: a person and a corpse. Pinned to the body is a note: Place a heart on the pedestal to leave. Tucked neatly into the corpse's pocket is a letter opener, small and not particularly sharp.
Did you have weapons or tools on you before? You don't now. But look at it this way: what better form of bonding is there than helping a friend or stranger dig a heart out of a corpse with nothing but a letter opener and your bare hands?]

SCENARIO THREE: HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BREAK-IN TODAY?
[You're standing outside a storefront, colored glass set into intricate designs. It's beautiful, artistic, but more importantly - there's definitely food inside. Good food, too, by the glimpses you can see through the window. In fact - wait a minute - isn't that your favorite dish in there, just waiting for you? You've been searching for food for hours, it seems, and the city is bare. Your tummy is getting awful rumbly. What luck!
You try the door. Cruelly, it is locked. The food taunts you, just out of reach.
The glass is lovely, intricate, but it's just glass. Or maybe you know how to pick locks. Or maybe there's a back way in. Or maybe some passing friend will be able to help you. There's a lot of options here, if what you really want is a mouthful of the finest... whatever it is you like.]

[ Allison's been through a kidnapping once or twice already, both back home and when she first got to Asgard, so this isn't terribly new. In fact, she's surprised when she starts to come to and finds that neither her wrists nor her ankles are bound. As her eyes adjust to the room she looks around, spotting the pedestal and two people near her.
No, scratch that. One person and one corpse. Either that or one of them doesn't need to breathe, which is a possibility.
One thing she knows with absolute certainty is that she can't panic. Panicking, especially in a room that likely has limited air supply, is the worst thing she could do right now. So she sits up carefully, eyes scanning the room once more before she looks towards the breathing body near her. ]
Hey. [ Her voice is quiet and calm in an attempt to keep the other person calm as well, or at least to appear non-threatening. ] Are you okay?

[He stands slowly, glancing toward the pedestal, and then back toward the door.]
I'm alright, but- [Something's not right here. Obviously, there's a freaking corpse in the room, but the rest of it is... also not right. Isaac exhales, and blinks the sleep from his eyes.]

She shakes her head slightly, both to his question and to try to clear her head. She can worry about his return later; for now, they need to figure out where they are and how they can get out. ] I don't know. One of the gods must be messing with us. [ Her hand moves to her ankle to grab the knife she's generally got strapped there - just because it seems like it's just them and a corpse doesn't mean it'll stay that way - but it's not there.
Confused, Allison pulls up the leg of her jeans to find that the holder is missing as well. ] Whatever's going on, they didn't want me armed.

[But he can smell- well, the corpse, but also the hint of Allison's shampoo, the leather of her boots, and that's... disconcerting, when he's so used to not having his power anymore.
Despite what Allison remembers, Isaac can't really think of a time after Asgard. There is no after for him, just- this, now, and her and the body on the floor. He approaches it, crouches down a little near it, and picks up the paper to read the note.
There's a long pause, and he looks back up toward Allison, his shoulders tight.]
It says we've got to get a heart.

[ Her stomach is suddenly in her throat, twisting harshly, as she stands and makes her way over to him. She glances briefly at the corpse's face, relieved that she doesn't recognize the person but no less happy with the fact that someone's been killed, before her gaze drops to the note in Isaac's hands. She crouches down beside him, their shoulders nearly touching. ]
This has to be some kind of sick joke. We're not-- [ She looks towards the corpse again. ] We can't just cut him up, Isaac. There has to be another way out of here.

[Though he's not sure how 'place a heart on the pedestal' could really be a metaphor, not with a dead guy in the room. Isaac turns to look at her, bumping their shoulders together slightly.]
I don't know. Let's, uh- let's try the door.
[It's going to be worse once he knows for sure that the door is locked, Isaac is well aware of that. But what other choice do they have?]

Still, she's glad they're together again and she knows that they work well together. (She tries really hard not to think about when Scott died because of the ice giants because she can't afford to deal with those memories right now.)
She glances towards the door and then looks towards Isaac again, knowing that he's got a horrendous history with being locked in places. It takes her a moment or two before she nods, although she doesn't stand up right away. ]
Do you want me to do it? [ It probably won't matter if she checks it or if he does, but on the off chance it'll make it easier for him, she has to offer. ]

[Brigitte is standing as soon as she's awake, pacing the length of the room they're in like a caged animal as she looks for exits. A sharp yank on the door gets nothing, which certainly doesn't improve her mood any, but it does remind her that there's another person in here who is almost certainly in the same boat and not at all really responsible for it.]

[The apology is a bit forced but absolutely sincere.]

Her attention's shifted to the pedestal so when she apologizes, Allison meets her gaze again, eyebrows lifted somewhat in surprise before she shakes her head. ] It's okay; I get it. [ And she certainly doesn't blame her for snapping, either. It's a stressful situation, after all. ] Is there any writing or symbols or anything on the other side of that? [ She nods towards the pedestal; since her companion's close to it, she figures she may as well ask. ]
Aaa yay so few people know of them!!
It's got a ... basin at the top, like something goes in it, but nothing. Anything on Mr. Body?
[Her flippancy about the corpse is probably better assumed to be her trying to play tough kid over it. She'd rather this girl believe that rather than know that the smell of blood and dead flesh is ... distracting in a way that Brigitte is extremely uncomfortable with.
God, she's hungry.]

Steeling herself, Allison makes her way over to the body and crouches down, looking him over once before unpinning the note from his chest. ] There's a note. It says-- [ Bile burns the back of her throat and she feels her stomach twist sharply in her stomach, her eyes moving from the note to the body, then up to her companion. She might look a bit paler than normal now, too. ]
It says we need to put a heart in the basin to get out.
