Test Drive Meme # 1

Welcome to Hadriel's very first test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and Apps are open October 1st.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: ANYONE GOT A LIGHT?
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something on the rooftops watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to separate you from your group and tear you into pieces. In this instance, the door has managed to grab something truly horrific, and it's definitely out for blood (and brains) tonight.

Smokers are enemies in the video game series Left 4 Dead, who use their prehensile tongues to capture unwitting people and either drag them away for consumption or hang them up to strangle them. With all of the activity of characters trying to find out what's going on and where they are, there are more than a few of them, lingering in the shadows and waiting to try strike at anyone who may be lagging behind.]

SCENARIO TWO: YOUR HEART WILL GO ON
[You awaken in a windowless room, the walls strangely curved. The door, when you try it, is quite firmly locked. No amount of force is able to break through, so it seems to be sealed by supernatural means. Next to the door stands a slender pedestal, about as big around as a large man's thigh. At the top of the pedestal is a indentation, as if something were meant to go there.

But you're not alone in this room. There are two things with you: a person and a corpse. Pinned to the body is a note: Place a heart on the pedestal to leave. Tucked neatly into the corpse's pocket is a letter opener, small and not particularly sharp.

Did you have weapons or tools on you before? You don't now. But look at it this way: what better form of bonding is there than helping a friend or stranger dig a heart out of a corpse with nothing but a letter opener and your bare hands?]

H O P E

SCENARIO THREE: HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BREAK-IN TODAY?
[You're standing outside a storefront, colored glass set into intricate designs. It's beautiful, artistic, but more importantly - there's definitely food inside. Good food, too, by the glimpses you can see through the window. In fact - wait a minute - isn't that your favorite dish in there, just waiting for you? You've been searching for food for hours, it seems, and the city is bare. Your tummy is getting awful rumbly. What luck!

You try the door. Cruelly, it is locked. The food taunts you, just out of reach.

The glass is lovely, intricate, but it's just glass. Or maybe you know how to pick locks. Or maybe there's a back way in. Or maybe some passing friend will be able to help you. There's a lot of options here, if what you really want is a mouthful of the finest... whatever it is you like.]
unknowable: (maybe it's the heat in here)

[Adam has the gift of sounding sensible at most times, even if what he's staying is 'let's wake a strange ley line' or 'let's frame someone for murder'. This, being a (more or less) actually sensible idea, is even easier to make sound that way,

He doesn't really want to break the glass either, but if it's the only option - well, they're hungry. Still, better to explore other avenues first.]

We can hope, anyway. Did you see any other stores with food besides this one?

[There is a small alleyway between this building and the next one. Adam peers down it cautiously before heading inside, steps careful.]
casperdisaster: (I gotta say it wears me out)

[personal profile] casperdisaster 2015-09-21 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Noah shakes his head sadly as he trots after Adam, blindly trusting in the other's sensibility and good choices.

Adam's only really ass when it comes to taking care of himself after all.]

No, all the ones I saw were all dark and empty-looking. Except one that looked like it had a bunch of end-tables... that were a little too tall...
unknowable: (and I reach deep down within)

[personal profile] unknowable 2015-09-22 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
[He's a little worried about running into one of those monsters from earlier, but he hasn't seen any in awhile. Hopefully they'll be fine.]

Yeah, I couldn't find any either. Just one full of what looked like cloth, and then a bunch of empty ones.

[The alley doesn't have any garbage or trash cans or any of the things Adam might expect. But then, what is he supposed to expect, here?]

This place is so strange.
casperdisaster: (the madness of choice in the life)

[personal profile] casperdisaster 2015-09-23 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Stranger than the last place, even. Like... the circumstances were strange but it was mostly normal otherwise, but this place is just black and white and weird all over, y'know?

[Noah tries to judge the space in the alleyway looking for the back part of the building that would connect to the front they were trying to get into before. Even if there's not a door, maybe there's a window one of them can slip into.]
unknowable: (& every demon wants his pound of flesh)

[personal profile] unknowable 2015-09-23 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. At least there, it felt like we were still on Earth. Here, I have no idea.

[Adam's not really sure what the walls of the building are made of. Stone of some kind, he thinks. After all, they're in a cave. But it doesn't look like granite or concrete or marble, and Adam's geology knowledge is perhaps not as in depth as it could be. Maybe it's another kind of glass, like the front?

Either way, there don't seem to be any windows in it. They do find another door at the very back, but tugging at the handle shows it's just as tightly locked as the front.]

Well... it was an idea, I guess.
casperdisaster: (Help I'm losing help I'm falling)

[personal profile] casperdisaster 2015-09-24 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Noah's own knowledge of rocks is that they are ... rocks. He's about as good as Adam, at his best. He sighs in dismay when the back door is locked too, and no windows to suggest any other kind of back entrance to the building.]

... Guess we gotta bust a window. They're so pretty though, I feel bad.
unknowable: (maybe it's the pressure)

[personal profile] unknowable 2015-09-28 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe we can just smash a little hole in it. Enough to get the door open.

[Although that relies on it being openable from inside without a key of some kind, which there's no guarantee of at all. Still, they could try it, at least. Adam would feel bad shattering the intricate windows as well.]

Break one of the corners near the door and try to reach in and unlock it from out here, if we can.
casperdisaster: (To the bitter end - but what do I know?)

[personal profile] casperdisaster 2015-09-29 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! That's a good idea!

[Noah's got his sweater on, so he takes it off to wrap his hand so he doesn't risk cutting that on broken glass. Well, he's belatedly happy they didn't let him torch it after all. A piece of nearby rubble works well to get said glass cracked, he tries a corner closest to where the handle for the door is under the idea that you'd put the lock next to the handle, right?

Of course, once the glass is broken - with a grimace and a mouthed 'sorry' - he's got to sort of do the rest by feel alone.

Uh, give him a sec here.]

Too bad this isn't Monmouth's door.
unknowable: (you never returned that call)

[personal profile] unknowable 2015-09-30 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That would make things a lot easier.

[He watches, careful, ready to help if he's needed. Not hovering, the way Gansey the worrier might, but wary. As always.]

Careful you don't cut yourself on the edge. I don't have a lot of bandages left.

[Leaning in, Adam tries to see through the glass. He can't even really tell if there's a handle in there, but there must be, right?]
casperdisaster: (The words here hard to describe)

[personal profile] casperdisaster 2015-10-03 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
[If there's a handle on one side there's got to be a handle on the other, right?]

I'll be careful. Oh! I think I feel something!

[It's... kind of like a deadbolt maybe? It would explain the lack of any budging at all, but the latch wasn't really made for human hands so it's difficult to get a grip on while sort of blindly groping.]

Almost got it... almost...

[Just a LIITLE MORE and he manages to flip SOMETHING and hear a solid click from the door and god he hopes there was only the one lock because of course he manages to neatly get a small but painful cut on his hand when he pulls his hand back out of the window.]

Ow!
unknowable: (here to relive your darkest moments)

[personal profile] unknowable 2015-10-04 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
[NOAH. Adam JUST SAID to be careful. Goddamnit, his friends are morons.

He doesn't sigh. Instead he just steps close and reaches out to take Noah's hand, turning toward him to look at the blood now welling up from the small cut.]

We'll wash it out, and a band-aid should take care of it. But let's see if we can get inside first.

[He pushes at the door, and lo and behold, it swings open, revealing a store full of food. God, he's hungry.]
