Test Drive Meme #8

Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open April 24th, and apps are open May 1st.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: DEAD FLESH BUFFET
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to swarm around you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in a group of rotfiends, from the video game The Witcher.

These unpleasant-looking creatures are necrophages, meaning they feed on the flesh of the dead, and if that flesh is in short supply they are happy to add to it. Normally found in groups, they are fast and difficult to corner. What's more, when on the verge of death, they have an annoying tendency to explode into a flammable cloud of poisonous toxins. You left your torch at home, right?]

SCENARIO TWO: MMM WHATCHA SAY
[There you were, just walking along the street, minding your own business like a good underground hell-city citizen, when all of a sudden you saw someone. It was like love at first sight - if by 'love' you mean 'deep burning hatred'. You've never wanted to kill someone so much, and why? Well, you're not really sure, but there's probably a reason! You'll just have to figure it out. Or not. Who needs a reason for murder, anyway?

Or maybe you're the one someone else has targeted. Maybe you know they're after you and you're desperately trying to watch your back. Why do they hate you? You don't even know them. Or maybe you do, maybe they're your best friend. Either way, this is a super awkward situation, and someone might end up dead. Hopefully not you!

This is a mini version of our Assassin event this month!]

H O P E

SCENARIO THREE: SCRATCH OFF
[This morning, you received a scratch ticket in the mail (who knew Hadriel even had mail?), addressed to you. The instructions are clear enough - scratch off three matching icons, and you win a prize! Sure, okay. But here's the grand prize: a one-way ticket home.

Unfortunately, try as you might, you aren't gonna win that one, but keep hoping! And hey, just think of all the other GREAT PRIZES you could win: an inflatable duck, a plastic ring to give your sweetheart, an empty can of Red Bull, a cell phone charm shaped like a strange green creature with a boner.

So what if you didn't win that ticket home? You got something almost as good: a shitty prize! Thanks, Hope!]

[Ruby isn't expecting someone to run into her like an idiot--it's obviously someone, not one of those zombie things--and she only refrains from laying into them for their stupidity because she's in a new place and maybe this person could be useful.

And then she realizes it's Sam, and oh she regrets not saying anything.

Only now she's faced with trying to figure out exactly what to say, because this is not a situation that should ever occur. She remembers, very clearly, Dean stabbing her; she should be dead, but she's here. And so is Sam, and her game is up.

The look on his face prompts a smirk on hers, and in a moment she's made up her mind.]

Aw, Sam. Meeting in an alley, just like the old days. Romantic as always.

[She has no reason to play nice, and he ruined everything. He's lucky she isn't ripping his heart out of his chest, though she is ready for him to make any sort of aggressive move toward her and therefore give her a reason to go ahead and do so.]

( about making someone's day even worse.

who'd have known it was going to be his?

things aren't exactly easy in hadriel on the best of days – and, well, coming face-to-face with a problem, a habit that he'd thought had been left in the past is not something that he'd been expecting, even for as often as things tend to throw him for a loop here.

and for as much as she's trying to think of something to say, he's in much the same boat, what with his tongue sticking to the roof of his mouth in a way that makes coherent speech all but impossible. there are a handful of thoughts zooming through his mind, all of which border on the vein of how are you here? even when he has to admit that it isn't the least plausible thing that could happen – but there aren't words for his surprise, there aren't words for much of anything

until she opens her mouth. and if not for his addled mind trying to make sense of it all, he would have been seeing red.
)

Wh– you're dead. You're supposed to be dead. We watched you die. ( a beat, and he takes a breath, lets it out in a solid whoosh. )

How are you here?

[He's so flustered. It almost puts her in a good mood, if she weren't talking to Sam Winchester after he and his self-righteous jerk of a brother hadn't just stabbed her.]

What, after everything you've seen, me being alive is really that shocking to you?

[She has no idea what's going on, but she's not about to say it. Might as well let him think this is all perfectly expected and planned for.]

I should be asking you what you're doing here, but I guess it's just the same answer as always.

[That answer being 'getting into trouble' or 'nosing around where he doesn't belong', whichever he likes best.]

( well of course he's going to be flustered, because never in a million years would he have expected to see her again, even with the concept of death not being entirely permanent. ( at least, where he and dean are concerned; everyone else that really matters, they've been long gone and stayed gone. )

he'll find the words he's looking for in a minute, maybe, because he really can't stand there with his mouth working like that of a fish out of water – get it together, sam – and he ends up frowning at her so severely that it's a wonder his face doesn't stick like that, the hardness of his gaze like that of stone.
)

Considering I'm the one that gave Dean the opening to do the job? Just color me a little surprised. ( that's putting it mildly. just a bit.

he exhales slowly through his nose, trying both to keep his calm and muster up the words in answer to the question she hasn't even asked. he doesn't have to tell her anything, not really – she hasn't earned it – but at the same time, she has to be wondering about what had landed her here in the first place.

this is probably the first instance that he's really seen that the door brings in evil and chaos.
)

Go ahead, ask. ( like it's going to be any answer other than the one she's already expecting. ) I didn't plan on coming here, if that's what you're thinking.

Oh, please. You did so much work, like screwing up everything at the last moment doesn't come naturally to you.

[It's cavalier, flippant and unimpressed, but the fire in her eyes makes it clear it's no laughing matter to her. Dean's smug face was definitely not her favorite choice of last sights.

But then again, maybe it wasn't her last sight. She's here, after all, isn't she?

She does want to ask, but now that Sam's told her to go ahead she's tempted to just figure it out on her own or by sidling up to some other unsuspecting idiot here who'd surely love to help out a pretty damsel in distress. But instead she sighs, rolling her eyes and learning around Sam to make sure no rotfeinds are coming their way. It's more a show of calm and confidence--a lack of fear of Sam--than an actual check of their surroundings, however, and she soon turns her attention back to giving Sam an unimpressed look.]

How shocking. You ended up somewhere you didn't plan to be.

[That jab out of the way--]

But fine. This isn't Hell, obviously, and I'm guessing neither of us made it to Heaven, so sure. Enlighten me.
