Test Drive Meme # 2

Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open October 25th, and apps are open November 1st.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: THE LAUGHTER OF A CHILD
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something on the rooftops watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to separate you from your group and tear you into pieces. This time, the Door has brought in some little friends for you to play with.

Grey Children are enemies in the video game Silent Hill. They usually move in pairs or groups of three, clinging to your legs and pulling you down so that they can laugh as they stab you to death. They're not particularly sturdy, but since they hunt in packs, they can kill you just the same. Let's hope your group is bigger - or that you can get away before they get ahold of you. But don't be too mean. They're just children, after all.]

SCENARIO TWO: FEAR ITSELF
[You turn a corner, and there it is. The one thing that terrifies you more than anything, that turns you into a frightened child, that makes you want to run or scream or fight wildly. It could be anything. That person you trusted, who betrayed you. A monster that haunts your dreams. Spiders, maybe? Whatever it is, it's exactly what you fear the most.

And then there are footsteps next to you, and someone else is there. Maybe they can help you. Maybe they can save you. But everyone's afraid of something, and the moment your savior gets close, their fear will manifest as well - and if you're really unlucky, combine with yours to make something even worse.

It's not real. It can't hurt you. Not unless you let it. But if you let it, it will destroy you.

This is a simpler version of October's Fear Event.]

H O P E

SCENARIO THREE: THIS IS NOT MY BEAUTIFUL HOUSE
[A moment ago, you were making dinner. Not alone, but with someone you care about nearby - your beautiful spouse, or your amazing child, or your beloved sibling. Then, in an instant, you look at them and you know: this isn't real.

This perfect house, this perfect family, it's not yours. You can remember your real life now, and that person you care for? You might not even know them. A moment ago they were your world, and now you know this isn't actually your life. Your life is something else, somewhere else.

Above the fireplace sits a painting of you and your happy family. You know that if you destroy it, you'll return to your life. But do you really want to, when you've never felt this contentment, this happiness before? You could have it all, if you wanted. And what about your companion? This is a decision you should make together - if you want to.]

[Unfortunately, Sans' experience wasn't quite so good. He's fresh from the end of a long, dark road he'd specifically warned their newfound human pal against taking; a road coated in the dust of every person he'd ever considered a friend, or might have. People he did consider friends.

His brother.

His...brother who he sees right over there. It isn't exactly new to find himself in an underground with everyone dead back to life, but not quite like this, and not with such vivid memories of it, either. Hell, he hadn't even died...so how was any of this possible?

Then again, this wasn't Snowdin. Something was very wrong. But for now, he has to deal with his top priority.
]

Don't think I've ever been to this part of the underground before.

[He's just kind of there, like he always is, walking alongside Papyrus. Must have taken a shortcut.

He looks exhausted, almost like he's got the amount of mental fatigue you'd expect from watching everyone get stabbed to death...

But then, Sans always looks tired. So nothing out of the ordinary.

And if those little grey bastards so much as try to interrupt this oh so happy reunion of his, he's gonna make them regret it.

[Papyrus is both overjoyed, and also unsurprised when Sans suddenly appears by his side. The other does it so often that this is pretty unremarkable. Or at least it should be unremarkable, if he knew the real circumstances of the situation.]

Oh, Sans, I was so worried!! You really ought to get a cellphone, you know, it makes getting ahold of you extremely difficult when you don't have one! Well, so does no service, so I'll let you off the hook this one time.

I'm still not exactly certain how we've wound up down here again though. Maybe this is a different underground than the one we had been in before? But surely if you're here, then everyone else must be as well!

[Well, he sure isn't reacting like someone who had died, so...]

[He'd already figured that out, but it's a good way to test for things. "Down here again" has implications; implications he isn't sure he likes, either.

But for now, he's just going to enjoy the fact Papyrus is alive.
]

Well, they're either hiding...

...we're all split up...

...or it's just us.

[Or they're dead.]

They could be...on the surface, still.

[Because that's where they all were. Yes. The surface.]

[personal profile] boneafide 2015-11-06 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Just them...? Well, on the bright side, it just means it's only the two of them that need to find a way out instead of a whole bunch of people. ]

Perhaps it was just us that fell down here then. No matter! We'll just find a way back up again! Just like the human did on their journey!

[And slowly in the distance, the Grey Children creep closer. Not quite in attacking range yet, but they aren't backing off.]

[Hopefully nothing like them...

Anyway, he doesn't know what those are but hanging around to find out isn't on the agenda.
]

Yeah, well...if the human were here, you know what they'd do? Keep moving forward. Determinedly. So how about we, uh, make like a bone and advance in a linear pattern?

[personal profile] boneafide 2015-11-06 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
You're right, that's exactly what they'd do!

[Sans being right though?? A novelty.]

Well let's not waste any time and get to exploring! There has to be a few friendly faces down here somewhere.

[And he's off marching again at a pretty fast pace. But Sans can keep up with him, so that's no problem. Maybe they'll outrun the Grey Children without Papyrus even noticing them.]

[Sans is always right!!

Still, he's glad Pap is listening; he could use some good luck for once.
]

Just make sure they're actually friendly before you face 'em, pal. What if they're the type who hates spaghetti or puzzles?
boneafide: (Default)

[personal profile] boneafide 2015-11-07 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The thought is so appalling he needs to stop and gasp at the thought, placing a hand on his chest battle body. ]

If they hate spaghetti, then it's because they have yet to try some prepared by a master chef, such as myself! And Undyne hates puzzles, so there are admittedly some puzzle-haters that simply have had bad experiences. I won't hold that against them!

[Papyrus no. Don't stop moving.]

Well, it doesn't look like there's much in the way of ingredients down here...

[He starts walking again but not at quite as quick a pace; the kind of walk you do when you're essentially waiting for the other person to follow without standing still.]
boneafide: (Default)

[personal profile] boneafide 2015-11-07 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[More horrific news!!! Papyrus is once again shocked into standing still, and then picks up the pace to keep up with Sans.]

That can't be right! I can understand if perhaps this place doesn't have the level of quality I've come to expect with perfectly aged mozzarella on top of handcrushed heat-lamp dried tomatoes- but they can't be out of the most basic parts!!!

[personal profile] humerous 2015-11-07 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It might. I mean, it's pretty desolate looking as far as cavernous expanses go.

[They had a society, at least. A functioning one.]

Like the lower end of the real estate market kinds of cavernous expanses.
boneafide: (Default)

[personal profile] boneafide 2015-11-07 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Not everyone can afford comfortable-looking cavernous expanses!

[But it's true, this place wasn't exactly cheerful. Even the Ruins looked nicer.]

... Well. We'll just have to find some kind of shop around here first and ask. We can't be the only ones down here! Right...?
humerous: (Default)

[personal profile] humerous 2015-11-07 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Clearly not. But he'd rather not make their first encounter be with something that decides to shamble towards you menacingly, so he figures they'll keep looking for someone that can talk.]

And if we are...?
boneafide: (Default)

[personal profile] boneafide 2015-11-07 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd kind of stink!! But at least that means no one else is stuck down here, so it's good overall. And you're here! So neither of us are totally alone.

[Maybe if they weren't moving at such a brisk pace, this is when he'd stop to give Sans a hug.]

They'll never be bonely.

[or in this case a dark cavernous expanse.]
