Additional Info: I'm PST, but I'm all over the place thanks to a crazy work schedule. (Thanks, Disney!) I usually tag late at night and occasionally I'll tag at work. You can tell work tags because, thanks to blocks on the computers, I can only tag through my e-mail, so there's a lot of default icon going on.

About Them: He's a crazy and nosy telepathic immortal half-breed. Tends to go into people's heads without permission whether they're awake or sleeping. Also has a tendency to turn conversations around so that the person he's talking to is suddenly the focus. He's not a very nice man and has a habit of making bad decisions more often than not, but there's a good heart somewhere beneath the surfaces. Has a soft spot for people who are broken or crazy.

His physical description is a little different than the icons, thanks to having bones that never healed properly after being shattered when he was a kid. One cheekbone sits up higher, while the other is sunken in. His left temple is also sunken in and his jaw is a little crooked. His eyes are the same as in his icons, with the left permanently fixed and not able to take in any light. His left arm is perfect and whole while the right is so broken that he can't hold much with it. If you ever see him shirtless, his shoulders are crooked and the rib cage looks a little crooked as well. There's also a round, shiny burn mark right over his heart.
Notable CR: He's either got friends or people he's creeped out and/or pissed off. Friends are Muscovy and Shadow. People he's pissed off are Gottlieb, Newt, Sans, basically everyone living next door to him. People he's creeped out, ummm, pretty much the rest of his CR?
Current Plans: He's going to be looking to get the Helm of Shadows, an very powerful weapon forged by two gods that he brought from home, reforged to regain its power since it's currently shattered into two pieces. It's able to allow people to use basic psychic abilities, and in the case of those who already have those abilities, allows them to be amplified. The trade-off is feeling the immense pain of the god who forged the helm.

Also, if anyone wants to discover that he has another weapon, a dagger called Godslayer that can (surprise surprise) kill gods with him, maybe that's something that can be played around with long term?? He doesn't trust anyone enough to bring it up in conversation, but things could happen!
CR you're looking for: I like anything and everything. Positive CR, negative CR. He can always use more friends. Something specific I would like is that, in canon, he has a soft spot for people broken or insane, and takes them under his wing. Something like that would be absolutely marvelous.

Yep yep.

Yeah, in canon, he actually has a huge compassionate streak. He got one favor from the god he served and asked that all those broken, insane, and unwanted have a place for them always. He referred to them as his madlings and he was heartbroken to leave them, so he needs some substitutes.

Come to the dark side, Shadow. We have cookies. Well, he is older than dirt, so he's pretty calm when he's not going off his rocker.

These two need continuing CR; they are so interesting together. And really, Near being at all creeped out was mostly a function of being at Fear's temple. (And the annoyance was because Ushahin messed with the card tower. Don't mess with his card towers, man. :P)

Near is definitely broken in many ways and whether he's crazy is debatable, so there's that.

Definitely need more of this. He's just gonna keep bothering Near and Mello by being a creepy creeper who occasionally reads their mind.

Ushahin is still not convinced that Near isn't like twelve, haha.

Yeah, in Near's last game, there was a psychic network and a bunch of skills related to it; he was really good with it and had strong defenses. It hasn't yet fully hit home to him that those defenses are gone, here. So the mind-reading will put him on edge. Good times.

Hahaha. Fortunately, Near doesn't really care what people think of him as long as they're useful and/or interesting. It's not uncommon for characters to think of him as being super young, though mostly it's been because of his appearance and preference for toys rather than his emotional state. (His emotional state usually causes others to wonder whether he's human. An actual robot in his previous game has privately wondered if he's a fellow robot.)

These two are gonna be fun together, yes. I politely demand more threads. Well, Near can't be anymore emotionally stunted than the Ellyl back home. They're a race made up of emotionally very frigid and distant elves, so Ushahin is kind of an oddball in that he feels emotions strongly thanks to his human side.

There are a lot of weird conflicting statements about Near's emotional state, but the Death Note encyclopedia volume states that Near shut himself away from the world due to being overly sensitive. But then you get . . . how he is. So how I've basically put it together is that he's killed off most of his emotions when he was very young in order to be effective at what he does. Emotions are distracting, okay.

But he's definitely childish in the emotions he does have left. Mello is getting temporarily killed soon, and Near is going to react by breaking his toys, sulking in the house, and craving chocolate. He's smart enough to not actually broadcast this, but he will still talk to people on the network.

Okay so Gojyo doesn't (out...wardly) fit the broken/insane description so maybe this would go nowhere BUT I REALLY ADORED THAT THREAD? More pls.

MORE! Definitely more. He likes Gojyo, especially since he let him go poking around in his head, and didn't freak out too bad afterwards.

I want CR with him already but depending on how Shadow's dream goes... WELL. There may be some interesting shit there.
