test drive meme #11

Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open July 25th, and apps are open August 1st.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: WORKING TITLE
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to swarm around you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in a few Working Joes, from the Alien: Isolation video game series.

Once simply androids meant for mundane jobs, working Joes have had their programming altered to isolate and eliminate threats onboard their ship- which they now believe to be Hadriel. Super strong, yet slow and plodding, an android may ask you for identification before throttling you when you don't have the right answer. They are quite sturdy and difficult to destroy without the right tools. Have fun!]

H O P E

SCENARIO TWO: BEAUTIFICATION DUTY
[The city has always looked a little drab, but now with some tools from Hope, it's up to you guys to spruce it up a bit! Your character will find themselves in a shop filled with various paints, home improvement tools, window stickers, streamers, and various other items and tools used to improve the appearance of the neighborhood.

You're encouraged to add your own little flair to the project in order to improve living standards and make Hope the happiest god in the pantheon. So, what will you do? Paint a mural? Sweep up some rubble? Install a skylight! The cave is your oyster.

This is a mini version of our Extinction v2 event this month!]

S O R R O W

SCENARIO THREE: CRY ME A RIVER
[When you wake up in the morning, something feels... off. It feels like you just watched 20 ASPCA commercials in a row and then topped it all off with the first ten minutes of Up. You're beaten down, depressed, upset by all the horrific acts and trauma in the world, and it's enough to make you want to cry.

Turn on the waterworks, because Hadriel is about to have a shortage of tissues and everyone's getting dehydrated. You might run into your neighbor crying while you're scavenging for food, or you might just find that one whole asshole in the entire movie who isn't affected.

Either way, it's time to get some hugs, some kleenex, and maybe a little bit of chocolate. Happy... crying?]

[It's been barely a day since those weird robot things showed up, and Corbin has already decided he didn't like them. He's been avoiding the streets since they showed up, the roofs here are weird and sloping, but he'd rather take the risk of losing his footing than turning a corner and running into one of them.]

[He spots the guy in the white flowing clothes, looking like someone who'd have been labeled "onea them forners" in half a second back home, and he watches as the man tries to kick the robot in the head. It was a good kick, nice and solid, but Corbin already knew you'd need something more solid to take one out, or do more than piss it off.]

Hey! Chromedome!

[He likes pestering the 'bots, once he figured out that they had trouble with the sloping sides he liked to jeer at them whenever he could. This one turned towards him, away from Rashid for just a moment, looking square at the slingshot Corbin has aimed at it, the cup loaded with a large metal ball.]

[Thwap CLANG! One of the glowing red eyes goes out, leaking a thick white fluid, and it fully turns its attention to Corbin, forgetting all about the other man. Corbin just grins, reloading]

I'll distract 'im, but ya might wanna run, mister!

[Thwap CLANG! goes the slingshot, this shot hitting the working Joe in the face, but he only seems pissed off as he tries to get at the redhead perched on the building]

[Now that's a clean hit if he ever did see one. Rashid looks up from where the shot came from and spots someone using a slingshot. He waves up at the kid.]

Thanks!

[He should haul ass, but he can't quite bring himself to abandon the other like this.]

Uh, you sure you're gonna be okay?
crowboy: (You know you like me)

[personal profile] crowboy 2016-07-22 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Thwap CLANG! There goes the other eye. The Joe is blind, but not really down, and he's still got his "ears" to zero in on anyone in the vicinity. He starts to turn toward Rashid and Corbin groans]

Less'n you got a gun on ya, not much you c'n do 'cept get hit. An' that ain't no fun! Ah'll be fine!

[With the Joe lumbering toward Rashid Corbin takes his time with his next shot, the brown skinned man looked strong, but he had a bit more faith in his shot.]

[Thwap CLANG! The robot doesn't fall, but there's a large chunk of metal lodged in the base of it's skull. Corbin hops down from the roof, bare feet slapping on the rock, shoving at the tottering robot with a grin.]

C'mon, this way!

[And he heads off toward a tall tower, once they got beyond a certain range the crippled robot wouldn't be able to find them]
turbulentwind: (Altair)

[personal profile] turbulentwind 2016-07-22 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Rashid's not much of a gun person, but he does have another weapon up his sleeve... if he had sleeves. Either way, looks like the kid managed to disable the robot for the time being.]

I'll be right behind you!

[With a little concentration, Rashid kicks and sends out a small whirlwind to trip up anything that might follow them. He starts running after the kid, hopping and bouncing off wherever he can, like no obstacle can stop him.]
crowboy: (You know you like me)

[personal profile] crowboy 2016-07-22 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Corbin turns back long enough to see the little whirlwind, which was cool, and yeah it might stop them for a bit, which was helpful.]

[His slingshot is back in his pocket, so he's able to run full tilt, jumping over piles of rubble and climbing over a head height fence before he pauses in what might have been some kind of yard, or an alley, it was hard to tell.]

Those things're perty slow, I ain't too worried about 'em catchin' us now.
turbulentwind: (victory is mine)

[personal profile] turbulentwind 2016-07-22 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rashid's pretty rigorous with his training, and it's always nice to put it to use without having his family or Azam chiding him. But at least Azam supports him regardless.

He hops over the fence and takes a breather.]

Those things were vicious. Maybe all those sci-fi movies about them taking over were right.

I'm Rashid. [Of the turbulent wind! He holds out his right hand for a shake.] Thanks again for helping out back there.
crowboy: (We need to talk)

[personal profile] crowboy 2016-07-22 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Ya shoulda seen the things as came through last month. Big ole scaly fuckers with claws. These ain't so bad, lots easier t' outrun.

[Corbin takes the shake, his own grip firm and with a laborer's callouses]

Happy t' help Rashid, ah'm Corbin. Y' mus be new here.
turbulentwind: (Default)

[personal profile] turbulentwind 2016-07-23 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean getting accosted by monsters and robots is a regular thing here?

[He can't help chuckling after letting go of the other's rough hand.]

Yeah, I am new here. What gave me away?
crowboy: (It's either this or I pluck your eyes ou)

[personal profile] crowboy 2016-07-26 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ya looked lost earlier, kinda wanderin' 'roun''fore the robot came 'long.

Us'ly it ain't so bad less ya go out in th' tunnels. But ya know, shit happens.

[As if that explains the whole killer robots showing up thing. Which, it kind of does. This is Hadriel, after all.]
turbulentwind: (curious)

[personal profile] turbulentwind 2016-07-27 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I kind of do that when I'm trying to find a path.

And I take it these tunnels are more trouble than they're worth.

[Not like he'd go near any kind of tunnel. No thanks.]
crowboy: (You gonna eat that?)

[personal profile] crowboy 2016-07-27 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Corbin nods]

Fulla monsters, an' they don' even lead nowhere, jes' right back here. Least y'ain't gonna get lost 'n' starve, but y'only gettin' out ifn' th' things in there don' kill ya.

[Sometimes you got lucky, Skulltullas were pretty easy to kill if you hit the right side and didn't let them drop on you. Those Bearskarn on the other hand...]
turbulentwind: (Default)

[personal profile] turbulentwind 2016-07-28 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be sure to avoid them, then. I've already had enough trouble with fighting people and robots. I don't need to add monsters to the mix.

More on the positive happy side, what do you guys do for fun around here? Please tell me there's something.

[An internet cafe would be nice.]
crowboy: (I want to fly)

[personal profile] crowboy 2016-07-29 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Y' fight robots a lot? Soun's like there's a story there, Rashid.

[He thinks about it for a bit]

There's th' bar. A river t' go fishin'. A libr'ry, if'n ya like that...

[His tone says that he's not someone that does, but who knows]

[Sorry Rashid, no internet cafes]
turbulentwind: (get off the phone)

[personal profile] turbulentwind 2016-07-30 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
That was the first robot I fought, but it was enough.

[He listens to his options, and each time, his face falls a little more. It sounds so... boring.]

Huh. Guess there isn't much room for a place to grow if there are monsters and killer robots around.
