Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open July 25th, and apps are open August 1st.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: WORKING TITLE
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to swarm around you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in a few Working Joes, from the Alien: Isolation video game series.

Once simply androids meant for mundane jobs, working Joes have had their programming altered to isolate and eliminate threats onboard their ship- which they now believe to be Hadriel. Super strong, yet slow and plodding, an android may ask you for identification before throttling you when you don't have the right answer. They are quite sturdy and difficult to destroy without the right tools. Have fun!]

H O P E

SCENARIO TWO: BEAUTIFICATION DUTY
[The city has always looked a little drab, but now with some tools from Hope, it's up to you guys to spruce it up a bit! Your character will find themselves in a shop filled with various paints, home improvement tools, window stickers, streamers, and various other items and tools used to improve the appearance of the neighborhood.

You're encouraged to add your own little flair to the project in order to improve living standards and make Hope the happiest god in the pantheon. So, what will you do? Paint a mural? Sweep up some rubble? Install a skylight! The cave is your oyster.

This is a mini version of our Extinction v2 event this month!]

SCENARIO THREE: CRY ME A RIVER
[When you wake up in the morning, something feels... off. It feels like you just watched 20 ASPCA commercials in a row and then topped it all off with the first ten minutes of Up. You're beaten down, depressed, upset by all the horrific acts and trauma in the world, and it's enough to make you want to cry.

Turn on the waterworks, because Hadriel is about to have a shortage of tissues and everyone's getting dehydrated. You might run into your neighbor crying while you're scavenging for food, or you might just find that one whole asshole in the entire movie who isn't affected.

Either way, it's time to get some hugs, some kleenex, and maybe a little bit of chocolate. Happy... crying?]

[ So far the only part of that she agrees with is that she doesn't find any bit of his answer satisfying. Soft concrete is not a good enough reason to go chiseling at her artwork. That's a bullshit reason. That's the sort of reason assholes give to justify their actions because they have exactly zero better reasons.]

It's a cave wall, the only thing on the other side is a tunnel or a cavern, and it's probably infested with some flesh eating monsters. Most people don't pay attention that closely, but that still doesn't make it right. Trashing other people's hard work is just selfish and rude.

[ And pretty much the exact thing she would expect of other parties currently living in cave hell. Which combined with her anger at her mural being defaced like it was Ai ends up giving him a hard shove away from the wall.]

Find a different wall beat up with your chisel.

[As far as L had been able to gauge, the wall was the closest to the apparent outskirts of the city that he could find. Hearing the new information does cause him to lower the hand holding the chisel to his side, but he doesn't noticeably react to being called selfish and rude.

It's the truth, after all. There's no credible argument at this point in time.

The hard shove probably seems harder than she intended it to; though it's true that L is stronger than he looks, that's ultimately not saying much. He's insubstantial and wiry, and the shove puts him off-balance and forces him to dance back a couple of steps just to stay on his bare, scuffed-up feet.]

...Tell me more about the "flesh eating monsters" I would have found if I'd continued.

[ That's all well and true but did he just not listen to people. Or did he just think the monsters that arrived with him disappeared like mirages after a period of time? They had after all been very real when he got there.

Ai had been expecting a bit more substance behind the man. He looked pathetic sure, but then so did Souji at times. Neither one looked particularly like they were strong. And this vitamin D deficient creature before her definitely looked like a stiff breeze could knock him over if it wanted too. She was just a little too used to looks being a poor indicator of actual physical stature than it was here. And she herself has to skip a few steps to keep the excess momentum from sending tipping over at his feet (which by the way please put some socks on and sneakers no one wants to see your toes weirdo). ]

[ She blinks up at him confused her anger momentarily dissipated in confusion by the subject change. ]

You mean aside from they'll likely kill and eat you?

[L absolutely listens when he thinks it's important, and this is a case that certainly qualifies. Though he thought the wall didn't go deep, that there was hollow space behind it instead of solid concrete or stone for miles, knowing what's behind it and why no one has ever ventured through seems well-worth knowing.

As for socks and sneakers, well... he wishes he could. He died barefoot, after all, and he wasn't brought to Hadriel with either.]

I said, "tell me more about the 'flesh eating monsters' I would have found if I'd continued. Specifically, how many there are, the general size and speed, and the reason they're an insurmountable obstacle for others who might have tried this before. It sounds like you can save me a lot of trouble.

[ Then his priorities are incredibly skewed because everything she said was important. Vandalizing her mural like that; Ai takes it as a personal attack and they've just met.

Does he really wish he could, though? Or would it just be humoring a person. However she wasn't brought to Hadriel with a full to bursting wardrobe, it didn't stop her from building one. Though he does make her laugh when he tells her she could save him a lot of trouble.]

There's a boy here that would be dying of laughter if he heard you say that I could save you a lot of trouble. I can't tell you how many when I don't know. I just know there's a bunch of different once and Hope's power keeps them primarily trapped in the caves except for when he tasks us with killing them.

[If art was important to L, in any capacity beyond capers involving valuable pieces that others value more highly than he does, he'd doubtless feel differently. As it is, all of his attention is focused on what is beyond this city's barriers and why they should keep anyone from leaving.

He quirks a brow; the boy she's referencing isn't one he knows, nor is his sense of humor. It's not interesting to him.]

If you're tasked with killing them sometimes, couldn't you kill them on your own time? Leaving the city has to be a priority for someone in this place. Or did no one have lives and obligations until they arrived here?

[ She rolls her eyes. ]

It was an either or thing this time. I don't paint murals for my health. I'm just better suited to playing with paint than hunting anything bigger than a pair of shoes in my size at Croco Fur during a sale. There's one that's kind of in a rush to get back, though I find his reasons moronic. And I'm in no rush to go back to start my last year of high school.

[Alone. She's in no rush to go back and start it alone yet again. ]

[L might not be the very best, regarding social skills and nonverbal cues, but that eye-roll is fairly unmistakeable. He returns it with a look of cool contempt.

He blinks, seeming surprised that she's telling him, in so many words, that she's kind of a loser. At least, that's how the high-powered prodigy detective hears it. It's one thing to be bored at the top of one's game; it's another thing to be bored without accomplishing anything of note.]

You sound highly unmotivated.

[Not good might be putting it very mildly here; at least as far as Ai is concerned. However she just raises an eyebrow at him, he can be as unimpressed as he likes. Sadly that really isn't anything new in her life here.

Rude. She's not a loser. She just has different priorities than him. Not like there's a whole lot for her to look forward to back home anyway. Sure she made plans for the new year, but for the forst time in years Ai recognizes just how lonely those plans are. She's not altogether interested in continuing the status quo when being here is more interesting.]

I have more worthwhile activities here.

[L glances over the mural, dark eyes lingering on something he saw "worthwhile" enough to have no qualms about carving into with a chisel.]

So I see.

I doubt it.

[ She mutters the word and holds out her hand. Give her the chisel so she can sleep one night easy with the belief that he isn't still carving holes in it to meet the terrible monsters beyond.]

[He stares at her outstretched hand as though she's offering him some interesting but puzzling exotic bug.]

I'm not giving you my chisel. If there are monsters behind that wall, I might need it to defend myself.

And Hope keeps them trapped in the caves after newbies arrive. You're in like no danger at all of being attacked unless you're finding the nearest opening and going exploring.

[She motions once more for the chisel. He is not going to be allowed to keep that tool of mass destruction if she can help it.]

All right. If you want this, tell me how you're so certain of it. How does "Hope" manage it, and what else can you tell me about that deity?

[L drives a hard bargain. His very spirit rebels at the idea of giving something and getting nothing in return.]

I don't know how he manages it. I'm no more a god than you are. So unless you have superpowers you're probably as idiotic as I would be to go in the caves. I just know he keeps them mostly contained in the caves with the exception of when new arrivals wake up in the Colosseum.

[She's really not the best person to pump for information. She's really not the kind of person to care much about how the gods work or why their powers work so long as she doesn't have monsters in her face all the time. Chisel if you please zombie man.]

[Well, it's something that she at least seems to be trying to answer the question with practical knowledge. L can appreciate that.

He still holds onto the chisel.]

What changes when the newcomers arrive? Does his power weaken? Is stability in what holds this world together compromised? Do the monsters get stronger, or the other god that deals primarily in fear?

The Door pulls new monsters in when he it pulls new people. It has something to with Fear or something.

[ Seriously is she going to have to fake it through his questions, just to stop him from putting more holes in her mural. Well she could direct him to Mello or the network, both were good places for information. She just wants him to promise to stop before she does.]

Are you done trying to ruin my mural?

[L's pretty tenacious; it's more or less looking like she'll at least have to suffer through some of his interrogation if she wants to get anything resembling what she wants. Which is, of course, a reasonably intact mural.]

You make it sound so deliberate. I don't have anything against your mural... just being trapped here against my will.

[It's very reasonable.]

Then go have a temper tantrum somewhere else.

[It's that simple.]

I've never been accused of having a temper before.

[He doesn't deny the tantrum part. That's accurate.]
