test drive meme #12
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open August 25th, and apps are open September 1st.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: O SHIT WADDUP
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to hop right on you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in several Doomed, from the Final Fantasy XI video game.
These strange undead creatures look somewhat froglike in appearance, but rumor has it they're actually made from a bunch of gross dead bodies all stuck together. Their whiplike tongue can hurt pretty bad, and if that wasn't enough, they can emit gasses that make it hard to concentrate, fight, and even stand upright. Have fun!]
SCENARIO TWO: PARANOIA
[Out of nowhere, you received a message on your phone. It's most likely from an unknown number - but not necessarily. It could be from someone you know, a number you recognize. A friend, an enemy, a trusted ally. But it's not who the message is from that matters, it's what it says.
Listen to me. They've been lying to you this whole time, and now they're coming for you. That, and nothing else.
So what will you do? Laugh and ignore this clearly missent text? Text back, try to get more details? Freak out? Or maybe you already know what it's talking about - who it's talking about. Maybe it's talking about that person who just walked by you. Didn't they look at you for a little too long? Doesn't it look like they might have a weapon?
You've got to protect yourself in whatever way you can. Who knows what they're plotting.]
C O M B I N A T I O N
SCENARIO THREE: LOUD VALLEY
[There you were, walking down one of Hadriel's rubble-strewn streets, when out of nowhere a cheery tune played. And then... everything changed.
Now there are rainbows along the cave ceiling, candy in the shops, walls painted in bright colors. Everything is cheery and happy and designed to lighten your heart. And if you walk around, you may just find your very own animal companion waiting to frolic and play with you! Sure, it'll all change back to normal Hadriel before long, but right now you might as well enjoy it.
This is a mini version of our Loud Valley event this month!]

Don't tell me what to do, runt!
[No, but seriously. What is it? It's not a human, nor a corrupted gem. Those don't typically still have the power of speech. Had Rose Quartz banished her to another planet?]
no subject
Except it isn't aiming for her, and she mentally berates herself for not noticing the new monster coming at her from behind. This whole situation is making her look incompetent, and she's had more than enough of that to last a lifetime.
Also this little animal is totally stealing a quartz move.]
I can fight just fine without your help!
[That said, the gem glows and rolls up to perform a similar move in the direction of the monster.]

Also, Jasper's nose is made of rock.
As such, she's unaffected by the toxin in the air and doesn't understand why Shadow now hesitates as she had before. She had an excuse, but he hasn't just arrived.]
Hey!
[She barrels toward the creature approaching him. It isn't as if she has any interest in saving his life, but she won't learn anything from him if he's dead.]
You're the one who said to get moving, spiky!
no subject
Finally locating an exit, the gem rushes at Shadow with the intent of grabbing him and continuing on toward it. Once they're out of this mess she can question him properly, and hopefully there won't be anything else to get her off track.]
no subject
You're not going anywhere.
[Not unless he can shapeshift, which she's hoping he can't. He's already exhibited some quartz-like abilities.]
I have questions.
a wild journal change appears
What sort of trick was that supposed to be?
[And had he stuck around just to gloat about it, or does it have limitations?]
So are you gonna run away or give me the answers I want?
no subject
[Jasper has to snort at that.]
There's no such thing.
[There are the Diamonds, who maintain control of the gems, but as powerful as they are she wouldn't call them gods. That's a human concept to explain matters beyond their comprehension. Maybe that's what's happened here and these "gods" have simply attached the name to themselves.
What he's just told her has answered her original questions as best as she's probably going to get for now, so she focuses on other things.]
What are you, anyway?
no subject
She glowers in frustration but doesn't immediately prod further.]
I'm a gem.
[Hopefully he'll be just as confused. To be fair, if she did recall what a hedgehog looked like she might say that he looked as much like one of those as she looks like the mental image someone gets when they think of precious stones.]
no subject
[This is said through her teeth. How does she describe what she is to someone when she doesn't even know the sorts of things this creature might be familiar with?]
We're superior to humans and that's basically all you need to know.
[Anything else might be giving away too much.]
no subject
But at his mention of changing into a beast her face twists into a scowl. Hopefully that won't be something that happens again. Without thinking about it, she glances down to her arm. There are no signs of corruption reappearing.]
... No, that's not all. But it's enough.
[She can transform, but she won't be changing back into that.]
no subject
I don't need to stay anywhere. I don't intend to stay at all if I can help it.
[It's a nice boast, but who knows how possible that is. Maybe she can break through walls that he can't.]
no subject
[She yells after him but doesn't try to stop him. Luck. Pfah. Luck is for people who aren't strong enough to get results themselves...]
