test drive meme #12
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open August 25th, and apps are open September 1st.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: O SHIT WADDUP
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to hop right on you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in several Doomed, from the Final Fantasy XI video game.
These strange undead creatures look somewhat froglike in appearance, but rumor has it they're actually made from a bunch of gross dead bodies all stuck together. Their whiplike tongue can hurt pretty bad, and if that wasn't enough, they can emit gasses that make it hard to concentrate, fight, and even stand upright. Have fun!]
SCENARIO TWO: PARANOIA
[Out of nowhere, you received a message on your phone. It's most likely from an unknown number - but not necessarily. It could be from someone you know, a number you recognize. A friend, an enemy, a trusted ally. But it's not who the message is from that matters, it's what it says.
Listen to me. They've been lying to you this whole time, and now they're coming for you. That, and nothing else.
So what will you do? Laugh and ignore this clearly missent text? Text back, try to get more details? Freak out? Or maybe you already know what it's talking about - who it's talking about. Maybe it's talking about that person who just walked by you. Didn't they look at you for a little too long? Doesn't it look like they might have a weapon?
You've got to protect yourself in whatever way you can. Who knows what they're plotting.]
C O M B I N A T I O N
SCENARIO THREE: LOUD VALLEY
[There you were, walking down one of Hadriel's rubble-strewn streets, when out of nowhere a cheery tune played. And then... everything changed.
Now there are rainbows along the cave ceiling, candy in the shops, walls painted in bright colors. Everything is cheery and happy and designed to lighten your heart. And if you walk around, you may just find your very own animal companion waiting to frolic and play with you! Sure, it'll all change back to normal Hadriel before long, but right now you might as well enjoy it.
This is a mini version of our Loud Valley event this month!]
Trance Gemini | Andromeda | OTA
[ In a place that has talking skeletons and the prima donna of jerks, Mello, Trance probably isn't the strangest person in Hadriel. Sure, not everyone goes around in what seems like a slightly loose full body unitard, especially with a belt, but she was of a pretty average height and short blonde hair wasn't so weird either. Purple skin, pointed ears and a long, thin tail is just a drop in the bucket with all things considered.
Just maybe, the actual concern is that she's in the streets near a tunnel crouched down in a light layer of 'fog,' with her hand outstretched. Maybe she's young- not just because of this, but she starts speaking with an innocent wonder or fascination. You know, instead of disgust for the froglike monster right before her. ]
Hi little guy. You're an interesting one, aren't you?
[ Prooobably not the safest thing to do. Then again, the fog those Doomed emit can cause mess with people's heads. ]
no subject
[ She is waiting, ready, in case the creature rebukes the attempt and attacks. ]
no subject
But not nice, though!
[ Whether it's scrambling or something more, she rolls over to the side on her knees, barely missing another lash from the Doomed. Because what else is the creature going to do when someone full of light comes up to it? Still, when Trance sees Wanda she hurries to her feet as the long tail swings back and forth to keep her balance, to get over to the slightly taller woman. Funnily enough, the tail swinging seemed to knock the Doomed's tongue from lashing out much further as it was directed towards the ground with an unintentional smack. ]
You do not want to pet that.
no subject
I did not come here to.
[ Her fingers are ready to trace red in the air, in case the creature gets ideas. ]
My name is Wanda. Who are you?
no subject
Still, she manages a bright smile. ]
Hi Wanda; my name is Trance. So, what did bring you here?
[ There was another lash in the air from the creature's tongue, though it didn't seem to quite reach ether. Still, it gave a slow hop towards them as the gasses it emits seeped further from the body. Trance flinched, taking a step back. ]
Right, maybe not right near it.
no subject
There are creatures who come here through the same Door you did. They are always dangerous, and often hungry.
no subject
That was so cool. I don't think I've ever seen someone throw a thing without touching it!
Oh! Wait, does that mean you were patrolling? Or was there something else...?
no subject
I was patrolling. There is nothing else here but us, now.
no subject
[ That almost seems unfair, though she glances back to where the Doomed had been cast. As awestruck as she seemed, Trance also wanted to understand as well. New place, new friends, new things to learn. ]
I guess it's not so hard when you can do that. Is everyone able to do that here?
no subject
[ What a perfect opportunity: ]
What about you? Where are you from, and what do you do?
no subject
[ What an opportunity indeed! ]
Me? Oh, nothing much, really. Not like what you can do. Back on the Andromeda, which is a starship, I was the environmentals and life support officer, along with taking care of the hydroponics garden. Also the chief medical officer, I guess.
[ Yes. Surely that is all she does. Totally. ]
no subject
What does the Andromeda do? Is it a military vessel?
no subject
Yup! The most powerful and beautiful, even hundreds of years after the war she was a part of. Not that we go around starting fights or anything like that. That's just how Rommie was built, after all. She's also a good friend to have.

[ The voice comes from behind as Vision lands on the ground a few feet away. ]

[ With hand still outreached to the undead creature, Trance looks back to the source. (Ooh, a cape! Fancy.) Her expression is pretty much the picture of naive curiosity. ]
Why's- oops!
[ She cut herself out, snatching her hand back in the split moment before the Doomed's tongue lashes out. Though she didn't have line of sight to see that it was actually going to happen. She still seems surprised enough to jot away from the creature. ]
I see why you'd advise that.
[ Which is strange, given she was right up in its space just before. ]

[ As she lightly and neatly steps back and over so that she wasn't exactly far, but Vision was between her and the creature. Her tail swayed further out to the side, the Doomed's tongue lashing and narrowly missing the pointed end. ]
I would definitely suggest leaving, then. Trance Gemini, by the way.
[ She bounced a little in step, indicating how she was going to start walking backwards, though had her hand extended for the most eager of handshakes. Because this was clearly the best time. ]
no subject
Vision. [ He shakes her hand in the way he'd seen it done amid crowds of people. ]
You are... unique. [ A momentary pause, before adding: ] - In your appearance.
no subject
Me? Oh, I'm not that unique. I mean, not like you.
[ Which is quite true! Just in more ways than one. She's as obtuse as she is unique.]
I mean, you actually go around in a cape on top of everything else. I didn't think I'd ever see that.
no subject
[ His eyes shift down to the cape, then back at her. ]
Does it bother you? I can remove it if you wish.
[ And just like a that the cape suddenly disappears, reintegrated into his body mass. ]
no subject
[ Some people would be surprised/amazed at the cape being able to disappear. Trance seemed to be a little dismayed at the consequence of her words. Perhaps even a little guilty. ]
I just meant it looked like your entire appearance had a really unique story.
no subject
Is that true of yours?
How often do you look at tags like this one and think 'she's such a liar'?
[ She shrugs just one of her shoulders. Hey, technically she's telling the complete truth. Trance is also plenty aware that there are many ways that this conversation could go, depending on the choices made. This seemed like the best for whatever reason. ]
I just happen to be purple and have a tail. Some aliens have gills or four legs. It's not that special.
/believes every word
You are an alien?
[ Well, that's a first from him. Technically, Thor is Asguardian but that's a different story. ]
no subject
[ Yet she had the face that even Vision could interpret as a silent 'what, you couldn't tell?' ]
I suppose where you're from, people haven't explored past your system yet?
