Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open August 25th, and apps are open September 1st.

Two quick points here as well:

1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: O SHIT WADDUP
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to hop right on you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in several Doomed, from the Final Fantasy XI video game.

These strange undead creatures look somewhat froglike in appearance, but rumor has it they're actually made from a bunch of gross dead bodies all stuck together. Their whiplike tongue can hurt pretty bad, and if that wasn't enough, they can emit gasses that make it hard to concentrate, fight, and even stand upright. Have fun!]

SCENARIO TWO: PARANOIA
[Out of nowhere, you received a message on your phone. It's most likely from an unknown number - but not necessarily. It could be from someone you know, a number you recognize. A friend, an enemy, a trusted ally. But it's not who the message is from that matters, it's what it says.

Listen to me. They've been lying to you this whole time, and now they're coming for you. That, and nothing else.

So what will you do? Laugh and ignore this clearly missent text? Text back, try to get more details? Freak out? Or maybe you already know what it's talking about - who it's talking about. Maybe it's talking about that person who just walked by you. Didn't they look at you for a little too long? Doesn't it look like they might have a weapon?

You've got to protect yourself in whatever way you can. Who knows what they're plotting.]

C O M B I N A T I O N

SCENARIO THREE: LOUD VALLEY
[There you were, walking down one of Hadriel's rubble-strewn streets, when out of nowhere a cheery tune played. And then... everything changed.

Now there are rainbows along the cave ceiling, candy in the shops, walls painted in bright colors. Everything is cheery and happy and designed to lighten your heart. And if you walk around, you may just find your very own animal companion waiting to frolic and play with you! Sure, it'll all change back to normal Hadriel before long, but right now you might as well enjoy it.

This is a mini version of our Loud Valley event this month!]

[Or perhaps it's just the effect Faith has on people. Either way, she'd be glad to know she's liked.]

It's nice to meet you, Shadow the Hedgehog! [She thinks it's a perfectly good name.

Also a perfectly cute one.]

You've been here a while, then? [Longer than Kate? Not as long? Just as long?] Then you know better than me that this isn't going to last very long.

[Phi, sensing the twinge of sadness that goes through Faith at voicing the thought, takes flight and alights on her head again, illuminating her and Shadow and the little Chao in the glow of its gently flaming feathers.]

Such a shame.

[His silence goes unnoticed for a little bit -- Faith is distracted by the Chao, after all, who is possibly the cutest little creature she has ever met. Phi, meanwhile, watches Shadow with quiet curiosity, regal and poised in ways Faith so rarely is. Phi is a steady candle flame, while Faith is more like a crackling bonfire.

It's nearly a minute later when Faith looks up at Shadow again, smiling.] You okay, Shadow? Sure you don't need a heal?

[Faith doesn't mind him taking his time. He's right, it might not be safe, but somehow she gets the feeling they will be if they work together.]

Okay. Let's head out.

[She sets the Chao down by Shadow and stands, Phi keeping his balance on her head with... admittedly less grace than befitting a phoenix. Then, without wasting a moment, she motions to the door and leads the way, not stopping until they're in the middle of the street and safe as possible from collapsing buildings.

That's when the city changes again, and Phi and the Chao vanish.]

Aw. I really like havin' them around. But we're still here, at least! Together, anyway. 'Here' is kind of... well. It's Hadriel.

[Ooooh Shadow is cute too! No wonder he got such a cute little companion for this event. Faith is almost jealous. Sure, Phi is awe-inspiring, but... he's not a creature you can really cuddle with, not in the same way that Kate's kitten is. Commander Fluffington is so good at snuggling!]

Mm? A phoenix? Oh, no, they're not real back home. Least, not now. Maybe once, they were. Maybe I've got phoenix blood or something. [It is a mystery!

And that's the closest she wants to get to saying I'm a phoenix right now. He's probably figured it out anyway. Let her keep the words tucked inside herself for a little while longer.]

Do cuties like that one I healed exist in your world?

[Ooh, tricky little guy, isn't he? Well, it's not like they're back home. It's not like people here don't know Kate.

It's not like Faith will ever demand special treatment for who and what she is.]

Make fire. Heal myself. That's all!

[No big deal!]

[Ha ha ha you can't really avoid a direct question like that...!]

Not really, no.

[avephoenix]

Making sure no one was falling through a roof or something.

[She gives him a pointed look, but she's still smiling.]

What is this, a cross-examination? Are you special forces or something?

[She knows what that's like.]

[avephoenix]

[That's a blush, that's a blush! Hah!]

Mmm, I getcha. Though if you're with the Guard, aren't you used to the gods doing things like this?

[avephoenix]

Well, yeh, but they never last long, right?

[She's not been here long enough to know what the other gods might do, but she can definitely picture it.]

I'm not scared of 'em. If we all band together, we can take whatever they toss at us!

[avephoenix]

Right, so it's best to enjoy it while it's here, yeh?

[Given all Faith's seen, it's a mystery how she manages to stay so upbeat. Yet she does it, and she keeps it together for the people who can't, for one reason or another.

(She'll be the sun for you too, if you want!)

His disbelief doesn't faze her, so she doesn't do more than shrug at it. No big deal, can't win over everyone on the first meeting.

His compliment, though. That gets her attention. Faith's eyebrows shoot up, and her smile widens.]

Ooh? So you're the kind of guardsman who actually guards people? That's nice. Maybe I should join the guard. I might not look it, but I do know how to fight!

[She does look it, though. She's lean and fit. She means her cheerful disposition.]

[Oh, she could tell you stories, Shadow. Of fights, of battles, of subterfuge and good guys and bad guys and in-between guys. Faith doesn't begrudge him the ribbing. Rather, she likes it. Back home, no one would even think to tease her like this, because of course a phoenix is powerful, how dare anyone question that?

It feels good to be just another person with powers.]

I'll see if I can, then.

[She shoots him a wide grin.]

I'll be off now. Got to make sure no one else needs help! See you 'round!

[Waving, she heads off down the street.]
