test drive meme #13
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and apps are open October 1st.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: DON'T LOOK AT ME
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to hop right on you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in several Boos, from the Mario video game series.
These monsters can be menacing, but are also incredibly shy. When looking directly at them, they will cover their faces and fade into the background- however, when turning away from them, they advance on you until they're in the perfect spot to take a nice big bite. The only way to defeat them is to escape this part of the level- that is, run madly away and try to keep up eye contact while you do so. They may look cartoonish, but those ghost teeth can be sharp!]
SCENARIO TWO: YOU'VE GOT RED ON YOU
[Hadriel is home to many things- temples, irate gods, angry citizens and... well, zombies, apparently. Beware as they start to walk/stagger/generally kind of shuffle around the streets of the city, since where there's one or two, there's usually a hundred more just waiting for the right moment to strike.
Zombies attack Hadriel by the dozen for this prompt, and nowhere in the city is technically safe from them! While they're not necessarily fast or intelligent, they have an advantage on you in that they have a lot more friends and they can't feel pain. So saddle up, bunker down, and try to survive the infestation!
This is a mini version of our Dead Men Walking event this month!]

SCENARIO THREE: CAPTURE THE FLAG
[Hey, what's Hadriel without a few mind-numbingly stupid games to forget the fact that you're in a murdercave that routinely tries to scare the crap out of you while also maybe killing you every once in awhile? You're not quite sure who came up with this particular mind-numbingly stupid game, but you seem to be playing, so get your running shoes on and grab that inhaler!
This is a game of Capture the Flag, and thanks to Rage, you're really starting to feel that competitive spirit. You're going to win- you have to. So what if you incur a few fouls along the way?
There's a red team and a blue team for this prompt, with both teams trying to protect their corresponding flags. Try to strategize to take the other team's precious flag, chase someone from the opposing team down, or just go all out and full body tackle that poor guy who got a little too close to your territory- it's all on you!]

Marian Tenebris | OC
[Marian is anxious already, unsettled and uneasy, a bundle of crazed nerves and madness from recent events... and finding herself in an unknown city under unknown circumstances hasn't exactly helped her sanity.
Cartoonish or not, the black, empty eyes of the ghosts were seen for a flash, and they're too close to the darkened eye sockets of the emissaries she'd faced. Marian both wants and doesn't want to confirm what she'd seen, terror fighting the need to know, but the way they keep hiding their faces and fading out is only riling her up more.]
Get back here! Hiding?! Why are you hiding! What are you doing! You can't be here!
[Yelling a continuous stream of nearly incoherent invective like she's losing her mind (and she might be), it's clear she can't tell if she should try to chase down the Boo or flee in complete terror, caught juddering a half step forward, then a half step back, turning around and around and unable to make a decision in the midst of the fight-or-flight response.]
...just can't be here... LEAVE ME! Go on!
II: You've Got Red On You
[Marian isn't a fighter, not really. Not much of a runner, either. She's an academic, carrying what is effectively a heavy metal backpack.
So from whatever safe spot you might be hiding in, it's a bizarre sight to see her jogging from the horde... then vanishing in a brief burst of epilepsy-inducing flashes of cyan and white. Gone, the horde starts to disperse, and things are back to normal with the zombies milling in the street.
Exactly fifteen minutes later down to the second, she flashes back in at the exact position she left and makes it a few more meters down towards the door before flashing back out. She's making clear progress towards the door, that she might be able to barricade, in neatly timed intervals.
From Marian's perspective of course this is a matter of a few seconds, frantically mashing the button on the side of her heavy pack, triggering a quick-jump each time. But this time there's no flash -- only an angry but quiet "bzz-bzzt" and red light popping up on her watch.
She might just need a little help.]
one.
[Maketh is balanced carefully on top of a pile of rubble, rifle aimed and ready. Thus far she hasn't had much luck killing the damn things, but they seem to respect pain. She's a good shot. They don't usually come close after she hurts them.
Besides, it's her job to protect the newcomers. This woman is in trouble.]

But even prior to getting pulled into Hadriel, she was not having a good time of things. She freezes and stares a moment, confirming that she can actually see Maketh's eyes. But it seems okay, and the sight of what seems like another perfectly normal human being is honestly a relief. She makes a break for it, running as fast as she can towards Maketh... which actually isn't very fast, given the weight of the backpack-sized box she's carrying on her back. But panic and adrenaline count for something, and as soon as she's close, she slides in behind the pile of rubble, breathing far more heavily than that amount of exercise called for. Nope, this is straight-up good old-fashioned panic and terror.]
Why are they here? Why are you here?!
[The last place she'd been before here.. there was nobody. That, itself, was part of the problem.]

[Physically, at least. But when she whips her head around and there's another Boo creeping up, she grabs a chunk of rubble and holds it as if she's going to throw it, but seems paralyzed by indecision yet again, shaking slightly as it hides its face and starts backing off. But not so paralyzed to prevent her from going off on the Boo again, nearly screaming.]
You're not getting it! Stay back! Don't think I can't see you!

[Her voice is dangerously calm.]

..Gotta get out of here. Can't stay here. It's over. End's here...
