test drive meme #13
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and apps are open October 1st.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: DON'T LOOK AT ME
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to hop right on you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in several Boos, from the Mario video game series.
These monsters can be menacing, but are also incredibly shy. When looking directly at them, they will cover their faces and fade into the background- however, when turning away from them, they advance on you until they're in the perfect spot to take a nice big bite. The only way to defeat them is to escape this part of the level- that is, run madly away and try to keep up eye contact while you do so. They may look cartoonish, but those ghost teeth can be sharp!]
SCENARIO TWO: YOU'VE GOT RED ON YOU
[Hadriel is home to many things- temples, irate gods, angry citizens and... well, zombies, apparently. Beware as they start to walk/stagger/generally kind of shuffle around the streets of the city, since where there's one or two, there's usually a hundred more just waiting for the right moment to strike.
Zombies attack Hadriel by the dozen for this prompt, and nowhere in the city is technically safe from them! While they're not necessarily fast or intelligent, they have an advantage on you in that they have a lot more friends and they can't feel pain. So saddle up, bunker down, and try to survive the infestation!
This is a mini version of our Dead Men Walking event this month!]

SCENARIO THREE: CAPTURE THE FLAG
[Hey, what's Hadriel without a few mind-numbingly stupid games to forget the fact that you're in a murdercave that routinely tries to scare the crap out of you while also maybe killing you every once in awhile? You're not quite sure who came up with this particular mind-numbingly stupid game, but you seem to be playing, so get your running shoes on and grab that inhaler!
This is a game of Capture the Flag, and thanks to Rage, you're really starting to feel that competitive spirit. You're going to win- you have to. So what if you incur a few fouls along the way?
There's a red team and a blue team for this prompt, with both teams trying to protect their corresponding flags. Try to strategize to take the other team's precious flag, chase someone from the opposing team down, or just go all out and full body tackle that poor guy who got a little too close to your territory- it's all on you!]

one
Maketh flinches away from the man, but keeps her rifle lowered. He doesn't look well. They rarely do.] Be still. Control your breathing.
no subject
Panting out a trembled, staggered breath, like he'd just been submerged in freezing cold water. Fingers flustered and pressed to his eyes, closing them as he exhaled, the sweat dripping from him causing him to shiver. ]
My name is Will Graham... It's- What time is it? ... Where- W-Where am I?
[ Trying his best to execute the only grounding technique he knew. His name, the time and where he was. ]
no subject
no subject
[ She seemed real enough. It was his vision that made her blur, it was his ears that muffled her voice. She looked alive, she looked real and solid. No, this wasn't a hallucination. Pointing behind him, to where the ghost like monster was slowly gaining on them. ]
I'm guessing that this is the danger?
[ She could see it, right? ]
no subject
Maketh glances back towards Hadriel's newest monstrosity and nods.] One among many. Hurry now, Will Graham. I'd rather not fight it.
no subject
[ Uttered under his breath as he moved along side her. She would lead and he would follow, at least for now. At least until he found Jack or one of the other FBI officials. ]
What about the others?
[ Referring to the other people off in the distance he's seen earlier, all either trying to fight, avoid or flee from the sharp toothed spirits. ]
no subject
Not that it matters. She's still here. There's work to be done.
Maketh leads, watchful for more danger. This far from the city limits, there's always something that wants to kill you.] The guardsmen will help them. Unless you are armed and willing to fight, it would be a waste of time to look for them. Do you understand?
[It's brutal, Imperial logic. Don't waste your resources. Especially not the ones that breathe.]
no subject
Following Maketh as they go, curiously glancing over her from time to time, trying to work out who she was and why she was here. ]
I understand perfectly. You're not one of the guardsmen are you? But you're armed and willing to help a mere few?
[ Or am I a hindrance? I simply got in her way and now she feels obliged to help me? ]
no subject
[Will seems--reasonable. So far. Not everyone has been. She won't risk civilians killing each other.]
no subject
Can we... Just for a moment?
[ Stopping, catching his breath an dabbing the sweat that had gathered again at his brow. He'd come close to another seizure earlier, it was starting to take it's toll on him. ]
Where exactly will you be guiding me to?
no subject
[She hopes not. Her medical training is limited.]
Into the city limits. We have a doctor there, and the perimeter is secure.
no subject
[ Taking his glasses off, cleaning them on the ends of his shirt before slipping them back on, huffing out a breath and composing himself once more. ]
A Doctor you say? Yes, okay. A Doctor, good.
[ Nodding, swallowing and standing back up straight again, ready to go when she moves. ]
And um, which part of Baltimore are we in just now? ... Gotta say, not really recollecting this area.
no subject
So she moves, checking the sight-lines again. Safe so far. It won't last.] You are not in Baltimore. Stay behind me. And if I tell you to hit the ground, you will do so immediately.
[She won't have him getting in the way if she has to kill something.]
no subject
[ Looking around as he followed close behind her. ]
Expecting more company? Or is it just one of those neighbourhoods?
[ It was his social anxiety kicking up. Like hell did he want to be alone and lost right now, but he didn't really want to have to talk, so he over-talked instead. Nervous and jittery, muscles aching and cramping up- but he'd hit the asphalt if she told him, he wanted to survive this at least. Crazy and unsociable but not suicidal. ]
no subject
[Not easy to stay that way, however.]
no subject
It's easy to die full stop. In fact, it's probably the most easiest thing to do. Staying alive however-
[ He stopped himself from talking, sensing that he was getting on her nerves and he kind for needed her if he was going to get out of this mess. ]
You have a cat?
no subject
What? No.
[A cat?]
no subject
[ Awkwardly reaching out, hesitating and plucking a red-ish, orange looking hair from the back of Maketh's collar. Holding it up to better look at it. ]
...Hair. Ignore me, I'm sorry. More important things I know. Force of habit.
[ A forced open mouth smile was offered. He needs to work on his people skills. ]
no subject
[Nope, moving on.]
no subject
[ Dropping the hair and slipping his hands back into his pockets, falling back in step along side her. ]
Have you come across a dog? Same kind of colour, kind of. Hmm.. actually, looked more human.
[ He's not meaning to press the topic to make her uncomfortable, he's wondering if perhaps one of his dogs might have crossed her path. ]
no subject
[Cullen has one, a war dog, and so does that strange little girl.]
no subject
Winston has a bad habit of following me... I hope he's not here but it would be nice if he were... Home comforts and all.
no subject
It doesn't matter. She focuses on the moment. Get him to the guard post, and out of the way. One thing at a time.] I can ask the others to look, but people don't usually come in with animals. Not often, at least.
[She nods her head at the door.] Come inside.
no subject
No animals whatsoever? What do you eat?
[ A question the sounded more suspect than innocent. Will needed to work on what he said out loud and what he kept inside. Walking over to the guard post door, following Maketh inside and scanning the room out of habit. ]
And this place is safe?
no subject
Home.
She fishes a bottle of water out of one of the supply cabinets and offers it to Will. No doubt he's thirsty.] Food is provided. We maintain a defensive perimeter around the city limits as best we can. However, your safety is guaranteed nowhere. This-- [She inclines her head to the door] --is as far as you can get to safe in this place.
