Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and apps are open October 1st.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: DON'T LOOK AT ME
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to hop right on you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in several Boos, from the Mario video game series.

These monsters can be menacing, but are also incredibly shy. When looking directly at them, they will cover their faces and fade into the background- however, when turning away from them, they advance on you until they're in the perfect spot to take a nice big bite. The only way to defeat them is to escape this part of the level- that is, run madly away and try to keep up eye contact while you do so. They may look cartoonish, but those ghost teeth can be sharp!]

SCENARIO TWO: YOU'VE GOT RED ON YOU
[Hadriel is home to many things- temples, irate gods, angry citizens and... well, zombies, apparently. Beware as they start to walk/stagger/generally kind of shuffle around the streets of the city, since where there's one or two, there's usually a hundred more just waiting for the right moment to strike.

Zombies attack Hadriel by the dozen for this prompt, and nowhere in the city is technically safe from them! While they're not necessarily fast or intelligent, they have an advantage on you in that they have a lot more friends and they can't feel pain. So saddle up, bunker down, and try to survive the infestation!

This is a mini version of our Dead Men Walking event this month!]

SCENARIO THREE: CAPTURE THE FLAG
[Hey, what's Hadriel without a few mind-numbingly stupid games to forget the fact that you're in a murdercave that routinely tries to scare the crap out of you while also maybe killing you every once in awhile? You're not quite sure who came up with this particular mind-numbingly stupid game, but you seem to be playing, so get your running shoes on and grab that inhaler!

This is a game of Capture the Flag, and thanks to Rage, you're really starting to feel that competitive spirit. You're going to win- you have to. So what if you incur a few fouls along the way?

There's a red team and a blue team for this prompt, with both teams trying to protect their corresponding flags. Try to strategize to take the other team's precious flag, chase someone from the opposing team down, or just go all out and full body tackle that poor guy who got a little too close to your territory- it's all on you!]

Oh, okay caves, yes. Good. Caves. Good job just I'm not claustrophobic.

[ Weak as he was, Will finally stood back up, dusted himself down and tried to compose himself as best he could. ]

Um Louisiana, ah well no I was just in Baltimore, but I'm from Louisiana. You're um-

[ Clicking his fingers as he tried to pin point her accent. ]

-uh, from one of the Baltic states, maybe? You've got a very crisp accent, heh.

[ Feeling a little awkward now. Still not 100% this is actually happening to him. ]

[ Amusement flickers across her face; at least he seems calmer now the zombies are gone. ]

Sokovia. I live in New York now.

[ He was stumbling and muddling his words up, over-analysing everything he was saying and internally chastising himself over it. God damn it Will. ]

Okay, no, never heard of it, ah-heh.

[ Nervous laughing, ugh what a horrible sound. ]

Give me some paper and I could write you a whole descriptive map or your brain, but ask me directions and I'm completely use~less... Useless...

[ Flicking eye contact with her from behind his glasses every now and then. He wanted to ask her about how she'd destroyed those zombies. He wanted some logical reason so that he knew he wasn't sleeping or had finally lost his mind. Awkwardly tapping his open palms against the side of his legs in an off little beat. ]

It is next to Romania.

[ She shakes her head, it's not important. ]

Do you need any medication? That was a panic attack, yes?

[ Frisking his jacket pockets for something. Pulling a small bottle out and shaking it lightly. ]

Way ahead of you. Aspirin.

[ Fiddling with it, passing it hand to hand, running his thumb over the cap as he chewed his lips up a little at her second question. ]

It was something. I'm okay. I know I don't look or sound it ~~because I'm not~~ but I'm alright.

[ After all, how do you tell a perfect stranger that you're probably a psychopath? That you see dead people through the eyes of murderers and have seizures brought on by illness and an over caring psychiatrist? ]

[ She nods. It is difficult to lie to a telepath, and he is still water now where he was turbulent before. ]

I believe you. Still, it would be better to see a doctor. I know a trustworthy one.

[ That's Will Graham's mind in a nutshell; a sea squall calm one moment, then when the black clouds meet the white and wind bursts through, the meager warning it gives to an unlucky Will caught in its path.

He was exhausted. He couldn't keep going on like this, he needed real treatment. ]

I have no physical ailments, they didn't get their hands on me.

[ He couldn't stress that enough. Like hell he was going to let another Doctor get inside his head. ]

[ Simon is not that kind of doctor. Still. She'll talk to him about it later; Will needs help. ]

Then, are you hungry? Thirsty?

I eh...

[ He exhales a small sigh, part relief and part amusement. ]

.. Yes, I could really do with something to-.. Low blood sugar and emm fatigue I presume.

[ His breaths come laboured then again they steady. It was as if Will's own body didn't know whether he was coming or going. ]

[ Gesturing, ]

The shops are this way. I would recommend you hoard what you can; there is not always a guarantee there will be something to eat.

I'll get to work on that.

[ She seemed nice, heck, she saved his life! Yet Will was still so curious about her and what she was capable of... Or if that had all been in his head too? ]

The courteous thing would be to not talk about what just happened... But I still can't be sure I'm awake.

[ The voice of a broken man. ]

You're awake.

[ She says it firmly, with absolute certainty, but gentles her voice, ]

It can be difficult. It often feels like drowning, doesn't it?

[ It was as if she actually understood him. No one understood Will, Dr. Lecter did to an extent but he'd rather not think about him right now. He was the damn cause of most of this!

Exhaling with a tremble, nodding slowly and wearily, feeling like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. ]

Tremendously, yes. Feels like I'm fluid, dense and surrounded... Feels like I'm coming apart at the seams... Like I'm spilling out and drowning in all of it...

[ Sheepishly looking up at her, expecting a harsh face to greet him. ]

[ All he meets is a sympathetic nod. In the lab there were tests, but Wanda was new to the power and the guards had focus; she was often overwhelmed. Here so often the fear and hunger is not her own: monsters exude it as much as the other occupants of Hadriel. ]

What do you use as an anchor?

[ His heart was heavy, his mind loud and alive with every little detail his eyes and thoughts had taken in. Wanda seemed both calm and swirling both at the same time, like a waterfall. Beautiful and fluid, yet crashing in just the right places so not to wash you up and away. He was envious.

A slight smile showed it's pattern at a corner of his lips. ]

I go fishing. I'm a very good fisherman... Hook, line and sinker.

[ Wanda mirrors it unconsciously, her mouth curving upwards. ]

I used to run.

[ In a streak of silver. She could feel the ground beneath her shoes and the wind as Pietro ran. His laughter echoing, as it does now. ]

There is a lake here, but the fish may be dangerous, both to hunt and eat.

[ Will's empathy was tuned in hard today. He'd been picking up on Wanda's emotions even though she masked them well. He sensed a loss, like she was missing something dear to her, it only made him feel like he was missing something or someone too... Though he had no one to miss, and that was a sad thought. ]

Used to?

[ Curious and calming, he relaxed a tad more. ]

The fish I'm used to catching are always dangerous to hunt and ea--

[ His thoughts drifting to a latest case Jack had him working on. A thought he'd rather shake off. ]

[ Empathy is a rare process. She has not met anyone who delves into it — Natasha sidesteps. Steve is the closest equivalent. She's absorbed, feeling the wheels turn in Will's mind. It's calming in its own way. ]

Nowhere to run anymore. I usually meditate.

[ She gestures for them to start walking. ]

Not here. I think there might be monsters in the lake.

[ Will wouldn't consider his empathy rare, no matter how true a fact that was. No, he considered it a curse, a cruel unwanted gift, one he couldn't live with nor without. He was stuck like this and just had to deal with it. ]

There's always somewhere to run to. Or someone to run from, I'd offer to chase if it would prompt you legs?

[ Not meaning to sound totally creepy. This is why he doesn't often talk. Moving as she gestured, happy to just walk with her, not really caring as to where they were going anymore... Couldn't be worse than where he'd just been could it? ]

[ He definitely doesn't mean it as a joke, but Wanda laughs, softly. ]

No, thank you. I think I have had enough of running.

I'm envious. I can't seem to stop running... And getting lost or into trouble along the way.

[ He didn't want to impose on her any more than he already was, but he afraid, something he thought he was good at hiding. ]

Isn't that just life?

[ The nearest shop is closed, so Wanda moves to the one next to it, with the light flickering, and still has full shelves. There's largely chocolate and crackers in this one. ]

No, actually I don't believe it is. Life is what you make of it.

[ Will watches with interest and concern. ]

Is it likely that there would be more of the dead ones in there?

That is what people always say.

[ When they want to exercise some control over their circumstances. ]

They do not usually come into the shops.

[ A breath of a laugh left his lips at her comment. She was right, people always said stupid things such as that, yet none of them acted on it. ]

My apologies for being so generic.

[ A faint smile. It was good to learn that the zombies didn't venture off into the shops, it meant there was at least some safe places for people to hide. That made Will feel a bit better, it lightened his load. ]

Thank you, for all of this. I'd be- well... Yeah, we both know what I'm thanking you for, so thank you.

[ Pressing his face to the glass before wandering into the store, hoping to find something that would give him a burst of energy. ]
