Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and apps are open October 1st.

Two quick points here as well:

1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: DON'T LOOK AT ME
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to hop right on you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in several Boos, from the Mario video game series.

These monsters can be menacing, but are also incredibly shy. When looking directly at them, they will cover their faces and fade into the background- however, when turning away from them, they advance on you until they're in the perfect spot to take a nice big bite. The only way to defeat them is to escape this part of the level- that is, run madly away and try to keep up eye contact while you do so. They may look cartoonish, but those ghost teeth can be sharp!]

SCENARIO TWO: YOU'VE GOT RED ON YOU
[Hadriel is home to many things- temples, irate gods, angry citizens and... well, zombies, apparently. Beware as they start to walk/stagger/generally kind of shuffle around the streets of the city, since where there's one or two, there's usually a hundred more just waiting for the right moment to strike.

Zombies attack Hadriel by the dozen for this prompt, and nowhere in the city is technically safe from them! While they're not necessarily fast or intelligent, they have an advantage on you in that they have a lot more friends and they can't feel pain. So saddle up, bunker down, and try to survive the infestation!

This is a mini version of our Dead Men Walking event this month!]

SCENARIO THREE: CAPTURE THE FLAG
[Hey, what's Hadriel without a few mind-numbingly stupid games to forget the fact that you're in a murdercave that routinely tries to scare the crap out of you while also maybe killing you every once in awhile? You're not quite sure who came up with this particular mind-numbingly stupid game, but you seem to be playing, so get your running shoes on and grab that inhaler!

This is a game of Capture the Flag, and thanks to Rage, you're really starting to feel that competitive spirit. You're going to win- you have to. So what if you incur a few fouls along the way?

There's a red team and a blue team for this prompt, with both teams trying to protect their corresponding flags. Try to strategize to take the other team's precious flag, chase someone from the opposing team down, or just go all out and full body tackle that poor guy who got a little too close to your territory- it's all on you!]

[he mutters it under his breath, not really letting the awkward silence fall in. he's tired of it, too, of this place, of annalise, of people being murdered, of the messed up places his life had gone before.]

It gets hard not to ask, "why me"? After awhile.

[Jade raises an eyebrow, surprised by Connor's question. That's her line. She wasn't expecting him to feel the same way.]

... Yeah. Yeah, I feel like that too.

"Birds of a feather," right? Maybe they drag people like us here on purpose.

"People like us"? Dude, no offense, but how do you know we're anything alike?

[iustitiae]

[connor shrugs. aside from the age difference, he's not so sure. but if she wants to believe that, that's a pretense he's willing to let her keep]

Okay, people who hide under tables? Is that a better category?

[fourthsaken]

[He surprises a laugh out of Jade. A laugh that she suppresses when it echoes in the mostly empty room. She's still smiling though when she looks over at Connor.]

I dunno about better, but it's more accurate.

Could be a whole city of people under tables, right now.

[he smiles a little, too. tries to. it's easier when he's managed to make her look happy - like he's done something right.]

I doubt it. There's gotta be a lot of hero types around. I know people who would never hid under a table.

[She says it as if it's definitely the wrong thing to do. In her mind, there's something wrong with her, that she's not brave or strong enough to go out on a heroic zombie killing spree or a rescue mission or whatever her friend Casey and the others would do in a situation like this.]

Maybe. But it takes more than just heroes to make the world go round.

[he shrugs. you're not going to see him in spandex anytime soon]

Even, uh, people hiding under tables?

[iustitiae]

Survival instincts. People under tables probably make the best forts. And even Superman had the fortress of solitude.

[fourthsaken]

[Jade peeks out from under the table again, looking over at the door Connor barricaded. She gives it a slightly skeptical look, unsure if it'll hold up against any zombies who really want to get to them.]

No offense, but I don't think I'd call this a fortress.

[iustitiae]

Too bad. I already called it that.

[fourthsaken]

... Is it weird that that kind makes me feel better? It kinda makes me feel better.

[iustitiae]

That was the intent. So it's not weird.

[fourthsaken]

... Thanks.

[She looks to the ground for a moment, smiling slightly, before looking back to him. She's grateful not just for his attempts to reassure her, but just the fact that he stayed with her. It would've been easy for him to leave as soon as he noticed her, or even easier to push her out and keep the safe hiding place for himself. She knows there's not much she can do in a zombie attack. She's definitely not a fighter. There's no real reason for him to want to keep her around, and yet, he is.]

I was, uh, kinda freaking out in here by myself.

To be fair, I ran in here to do the same.

[and really, helping her was a way of helping himself. everyone wins in this scenario.]
