test drive meme #14
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open November 24th, and apps are open December 1st. Please remember that starting in December, there is an app cap of 20 apps.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: HOW SAUCY
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to destroy you for your vegetarian ways. This time, the Door has brought in a large group of Killer Tomatoes, from the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes movie.
While it is not immediately clear how these odd creatures can kill you, rest assured that you should be quaking in your boots. They can bite with their weird little tomato mouths, they can roll after you surprisingly fast, and they can even explode! Truly terrifying. But if you manage to defeat some of these agents of terror and chaos, you could make some mean salsa.]

SCENARIO TWO: VACATION IN THEDAS
[While you're exploring the city, perhaps you'll run into another creature that's slipped through a rift and is exploring along with you - or perhaps hunting would be a better term. Yes, Hadriel is teeming with demons straight from Thedas.
Perhaps you'll run into a desire demon, who will offer you your deepest wish - in exchange for your body and soul, of course. Perhaps you'll find a pride demon, who will play upon your strengths and weaknesses until you give in to them. Or maybe it'll be a despair demon, there to crush all your hopes and dreams.
Or maybe, if you're very lucky, you'll just find a nug.
This is a mini version of our Fadeout event this month!]
C O N F U S I O N
SCENARIO THREE: SWEDISH MANUFACTURING
[You're in luck! You know that thing you've always wanted? Doesn't matter what it is - a cool weapon, a nice dress, a well-made bedstand, a rare magical invention. Whatever it is, you just managed to find it! Whoa!
Or, well, you managed to find a box with a picture of the item on it. When you open the box, you find all the necessary components for making that item, along with illustrated instructions for putting it together. There's no written instructions, just pictures, but you're smart, you can figure it out! And it'll look just like the photo on the box. You're sure of it.
Better get building! Okay, the instructions don't entirely make sense - did you screw that part in upside down? Wait, are these pages out of order? Maybe you can ask that person nearby for help, or maybe you'll just sink into the depths of confusion and despair. But keep trying! Just think of what you'll get if you succeed!]

Sol Lee - Original
[There's a naked rabbit staring at her.
Sol tips her head to the side. Her joints are screaming, begging for rest, but the thing is small and oh so tasty looking. It probably can't run that fast.
What's a little pain compared with fresh meat, after all?
Come distract the werewolf if you dare. She might be drooling a bit. She's definitely turning a paintbrush over and over in her hands like a tic.]
[ three ]
[A large black wolf....thing is currently biting the hell out of what looks like a mess of Ikea odds and ends. The instructions have been thoroughly shredded and partially eaten, their words blurred and useless.
It was supposed to be an easel. Now it's a kindling.
Sol growls, shaking one of the planks hard. It ought to be punished for frustrating her.]
[ Streets ]
[She has tomato guts on her dress. Sol lifts the hem with a grimace, baring her teeth. It will have to be scrubbed thoroughly and then patched. Possibly sections will have to be replaced. She hates tomatoes. Almost as much as she hates fire and the stink of gasoline.
In the meantime, she's full of aches and too tired to spend the energy wandering. You might find her perched on a stoop somewhere, sniffing the air in a decidedly dog-like fashion.]
You! What is this?
[ wildcard ]
[Hit me.]
streets
Wish I knew.
[ The fruity-vegetable smell is messing with his senses a fair bit-- or more like, he's not used to smelling this much like marinara. Still here he is, tapping with his cane like it's Tuesday in Hadriel. I guess compared to demons, this is pretty nice. ]
If I had to guess... Killer tomatoes?

no subject
I don't know. Did you show up here with him?
no subject
[Otherwise Cousin Ben will find his way into trouble, as he always does.]
no subject
[ Like, one day you're in your office, going over case files and the next you're in a cave. Go figure. ]
no subject
[Unnatural, even. Sol snaps her teeth unhappily.]
You don't smell bad. I won't eat you. Wouldn't be much fun.
no subject
[ And he kinda does, too. There's something off about this whole place, it's in the air as much as everywhere else. ]
Uh, thanks, I guess. [ She's not kidding, is she? ] Might want to keep that yourself, though. It sounds like people don't take very well to cannibalism here.
[ MATT, YOU JUST MET A CANNIBAL, DON'T JOKE ]
no subject
Why? I'd only eat the bad ones. People like that.
[She and Cousin Ben have an arrangement back home.]
streets (you're stuck with me sry)
This is by far one of the worst things she's witnessed, and that's a lot to say for someone who regularly consumes human brains and experiences shifts in personality, cognitive ability, and memory along with her meals.
Suddenly there's an angry young woman demanding an answer to a question Liv has been asking herself since she woke up in that weird arena. For a second, Liv wonders if she's a zombie. But for all that zombies are easy to spot (and this girl doesn't have the characteristic pallor and white hair), they also don't sniff the air like... a dog?
Okay. She looks pissed off, so Liv will answer.]
Tomato guts. [Liv frowns and glances down at the red stains on her own clothes.] Assuming that's what you're referring to. I wonder if they hav brains. Maybe they're just-- puppets or something? Solar-powered monster-veggies?
[There's no sun here, they're underground, but there's light, so it counts.]
yessss
no subject
[And Liv thought being a zombie was weird.]
Are you feeling okay, or should I mention that I'm a doctor?
[Who never finished her residency, but that's not anything anyone needs to know about right away.]
no subject
She bares her teeth in a warning growl. Around her, in the shadows, something trembles.]
Ghoul.
no subject
But then, when the teeth are bared again, and there's movement in the corner of Liv's eyes, Liv does step back, eyes wide, heart pounding.]
Um-- people usually say cool when I tell them I'm a doctor. Are you sure that's not what you meant? Because I am definitely not a ghoul.
[She's a zombie, it's completely different.
And as the uncertainty mounts, so does the adrenaline, the fight-or-flight instinct that far too easily triggers full-on zombie mode and mindless, violent fighting.
Please calm down, weird girl.]
I... should just go. Just, uh, wash your clothes as soon as you can. Use cold water.
[All said as she continues to slowly back away.]
no subject
I smell you. I know.
[Sol's eyes gleam yellow.]
But your heart beats. Slow. Very slow. I think I would not like eating you. Don't run. I'll chase.
[If she runs, then Sol will have to chase.]
no subject
I'm not a ghoul. I'm--
[It's probably safe to tell this girl, because she's something else too, something not human. But is it more important to tell her the truth or to warn her of what might happen?
Focus, breathe, do not go full-on zombie now.]
I'm a zombie. [Liv's voice is strained, forcibly calm.] And if you make one move to attack me, I will fight, and I won't be able to stop.
[So she stands her ground, because if she runs, the girl will chase, and it won't end well for either of them. Liv's zombie instincts will make her turn and fight. Fight to kill, to eat.]
no subject
[Probably wouldn't taste good, either. Sol puffs out her chest.]
I could eat you. Probably won't. Probably you'd taste funny.
[She bares her fangs again.]
This is my rock.
[Well. Pile of broken stone and something that feels like concrete against her bare feet. Either way it belongs to Sol and anything that belongs to Sol - much like Cousin Ben - will be protected. And anything under her protection stays that way. An alpha protects the pack and the ground the pack stands on. Therefore this rock is hers and if she stands on it just so, she'll take power from the darkness and increase her own strength. Her claws with be sharper, teeth that much meaner. And this strange woman with her almost-dead heart won't stand a chance.
Theoretically. Part of Sol really wants to try. She could bite her a little. See if the skin really tastes bad.]
no subject
I'd taste awful. I'm half dead.
[Mostly dead?
No, no, now is not the time.]
Yes. Fine. Your rock, not mine. Can I go without you chasing after me?
no subject
[Possibly by rolling in something nice-smelling. Or at least less offensive than dead-not-dead.
Sol chuffs, snapping her teeth.]
Maybe.
no subject
[Oh god she's terrifying. That thing she does with her teeth.
Liv takes half a step back, her eyes on Sol.]
For your sake, you really shouldn't.
[Damnit, wrong thing to say if you want to book it immediately after. That sounds like a threat, and this girl doesn't look like someone who takes kindly to threats.
Hopefully the fear in Liv's whole frame lets her know she's not being threatening.]
no subject
Part of her really wants. But it's bad to kill people. Or people-shaped things. Sol's eyes gleam yellow in warning.]
Don't run. Or I catch you.
no subject
Got it. No running. Flower petal baths. No touching your rock.
[See, creepy fanged lady? Liv is listening! Even though she's fighting back full-on zombie mode, she's listeninf.
She takes a few steps back before turning and walking slowly away. Slowly, even though she wants to bolt. She may be undead, but she doesn't want to actually die.]
