Four Truths and Two Lies

- I once had my face stolen and worn by someone else
- One of my patients tried to kill me with a chess piece then threw me over a bridge
- I sometimes pretend to have "old people problems" such as a bad back, bum hip to get out of unpleasant situations
- I killed a priest. Shot him right in the chest.
- I doomed almost a hundred patients to imprisonment and experimentation in a government black site
- I was once one of the leaders of a cult that believed transcendence could be achieved through utilizing the powers of a particularly powerful Alpha

Kate, I must confess now that this one was one of the lies. They did start with just trying to throw me over a bridge, but they did not succeed.

'Cult' is a pretty vague word, and you don't necessarily have to intend to be a leader of one to end up that way.

[He doesn't think Rosen would set out to form a cult, but from what he's heard of how things work with the Alphas and such he could see it accidentally happening somehow.]

Well, you are right about the chess story. But I'm afraid the priest story is a truth.

There was a particularly powerful Alpha, one who could induce a strange vision-like state. As a priest he used it to gather a following, placing them all in a state of what he called 'transcendence'. He claimed his visions were really of heaven. But one by one they were dying. He kidnapped me, ordered me to treat them but when I told them what they needed, that they needed specific medical intervention, he refused to allow it, and more so refused to let anyone leave the premises. The situation got more and more desperate and then a fire broke out in the compound and he refused to let his followers leave. He was determined to believe that death was preferable. So...I felt I had no choice. There were dozens of people who would have--

I have to confess I have pretended to have a bad hip, but in my defense I have never done it to get out of work or my responsibilities.
